"No no, it wasn't you. It was just....I try not to remember what happened to my brother. That's what makes me sad," Zeke said softly as he sat down. Absentmindedly, he picked up the plate of food and started eating.

"oh, i see." Sapphire replied. she didn't really know what to talk about now. that happened a lot. she really had to get over her social problems! she just ate in silence.

Kaiiyen searched the dark corners of the grove, finally hitting something that felt like a book. She reached under the shelf and grabbed the object, dragging it out. "I think I got it."

"So, how long have you been here? Are you on your own out here?" Zeke asked softly, looking up at Sapphire and sensing her nervousness.

"um, well, i used to live in the one of the eastern kingdoms with my mother. after she died i didn't really feel like i was wanted so i moved over here." Sapphire answered. "sometimes there will be the occasional traveler and i go to the nearby kingdom to sell my jewlery but other than that i'm alone."

"Have you ever thought of moving into the kingdom? There is one not far from here and I am sure you would be welcome there," Zeke asked, setting the empty plate down on the table.

"well, i've thought about it. it's just... i'm not very good with people." Sapphire replied. "it's part of the reason i didn't get along with the people from the last kingdom."

"You seem to be doing fine with me. Why don't you do well around people?" Zeke asked as he stretched out on the couch.
