Roll says... 5: Just tell me.
"Just tell me what it is, Knotpaw," you say impatiently.
She shakes her head, looking distressed. "I, uh...we should wait until we have Jayface in camp."
"Look, either tell me or I'll go check it out myself."
But Knotpaw insists on bringing Jayface back to the territory, so you give up for now. As you near the border, you can hear a few cats talking, but it's hard to make out what they say. You have to focus on Jayface for now, since she keeps glancing around for a possible escape route. Her earlier willingness to face the consequences has faded at this point.
Your curiosity finally gets the better of you, and as soon as you near the camp entrance you tell Knotpaw, "Bring her in without me. I'm going to go look at whatever that was."
"Rookpaw-" she says, alarmed.
"It'll just be a second." You jog off towards where you heard the commotion, ignoring Knotpaw calling for you to come back. By now, you're a little worried at what you might find, given her reaction to it, but you just need to know.
By the time you arrive on the scene near the water, there's four or five cats walking away. Each of them looks startled to see you, but just hurry along and don't respond to your questions. Your view of whatever it is is blocked by Hailfang, Eveningstar, and Divercloud.
"What's going on?" you ask as you approach.
Hailfang turns around and starts, "Rookpaw, maybe you shouldn't-"
But you've already pushed past him and peeked around Eveningstar. Your stomach drops into something cold.
Stretched out and utterly motionless on the beach, stiff claws unsheathed and jaw slack, is your mother.
