"I'm not gunna lie," you say, after a moment. "That was pretty cool to watch."

Knotpaw half-laughs. "Thanks."

"You did good on shutting her up." You grimace. "Now to see how she'll react, I guess."

"I don't care how she does." She continues walking along the beach. "I said my piece. If she wants to see me as an enemy, she can."

You walk the rest of the way in silence. Once you end up near the lake, Knotpaw begins fishing, and has you assist (by that, I mean you jump in the water and scare the fish towards her). She also teaches you a little while she works, and soon you're diving into the water and snatching up the slower fish (only to have them escape you if you don't hold on tight enough).

Swimming Skill +1.

As noon approaches, you both elect to take a break and rest on the more sandy part of the shore, admiring your small pile of fish. Knotpaw is dozing, and you're half asleep yourself. You lazily look around you, watching birds fly in circles and head for the pine forest.

Oh. Right, the forest.

You shoot a glance at Knotpaw, who's slowly going between being awake and asleep. If you're going to tell anyone, this might be the best cat to tell. And she's still riding off of the confidence yelling at bullies gave her, plus you're alone, so maybe this would be the right time.

Hey, Knotpaw...
