Appledawn let out a hiss at the black tom, tail lashing. Nudging her kits out of the pocket, She raced after The two tom cats. What were they thinking, Trying to fight a badger? Pft. Slowing down as she approached The cats and the Badger, she quickly stood over her three kits.

(Did anyone notice Larkkit? He was by the badger den, watching the fight.)

{Yes, Icewing "noticed" him, and took him back to the nursery with his siblings and Dawnstripe uwu}

Riverstorm strides through the bramble, into the open, finally out of the forest. He could see the gorge just about 20 fox-lengths away. 10. 5. When they got to about three, he looked over to Blackhawk and nodded. "Stop!" he called.

Blackhawk skid to a halt, stopping just whisker-lengths from the edge, but he was safe.

Riverstorm began to do the same as his brother, but was suddenly knocked off balance by a sharp rock jabbing into his paw, sending him tumbling backwards, and nearly falling into the gorge. He gasps with fear, latching out at anything he can grab for safety, and clings on desperately to the ledge, only adrenaline keeping his strength high enough to stay on. He watches helplessly as the badger tries to stop too, but falls off the ledge aswell. The second after he though he was safe, the felt a horrible, sharp pain in his tail, and yet out a shriek. The badger had clung onto his tail with its teeth. Panicing, he kicked down at the badger with unsheathed hind-claws, the Badger growled with pain, and (like anything would in pain) bit harder, and finally fell... taking Riverstorm's tail with it.

Blackhawk gasped in shock and ran over to his brother, grabbing him by the scruff and helping him up. He instantly realized what had happened, and tried to help him walk back to camp, but he could tell; Riverstorm was already to faint from the large amount of pain he was in. He dragged his dear brother along behind him by the scruff as quickly as he could, back to camp. When he came back across Appledawn, again, he did not recognize her, and just ignored her as he tried to rush his brother to camp.

Appledawn raised her eyebrows in surprise. "Like Berrynose!" She gasped. Still standing over her kits, she watched them leave.

Sorrelkit suddenly felt sheer pain, And she let out a sharp wail, Before she went perfectly still.

{ No JK But still XD Oh Great Starclan Poor Heatherblossom ene I was actually thinking Halftail, because in Bluestar's Prophecy it's said that his tail was bitten off by a badger aswell, and has to retire early, while Berrynose's tail was lost by a... Fox trap, I believe? When he was being made a warrior I thought he was gonna be Berrytail XD}

Heatherblossom returns a few moments later with some herbs she assumes will help Sorrelkit, looking down, at she looks up at the kit. "Alright, Sorrelki-- Great StarClan!" She gasps, nearly inhaling the herbs she had been carrying as she rushed over to the kit's side. She gently pressed her ear to the kit's side... but could hear nothing. {Did she die?}

*Looks for a nemo "Did you die?" Meme for like an hour uwu*

Blackhawk drags his brother into the medicine den, strait past Heatherblossom, and gently sets him down in a nest, giving her a desperate look. "I'll explain later. Can..." He begins, looking down at Sorrelkit, his eyes widening with horror at the tiny, still body of his niece.

Dawnstripe watched as the kits fell asleep, and she trotted to the medicine cat den. Suddenly seeing Sorrelkit, Horror struck her gaze.

Heatherblossom hadn't even looked at Riverstorm yet, and looked at the couple in worry, backing away a bit. "I swear, I didn't do anything that Would've hurt her. I left for just a few minutes, less than five, to get her some herbs, and when I came back..." She trails off, blinking down at the kit. "Nobody else was in here... I would've heard them..."

Blackhawk takes slow paw steps forward, laying down beside his niece. He gave her a slight nuzzle, hoping this wasn't true, and cringed at how cold her tiny body already was. He touched his nose to her forehead, as if to say goodbye. "May you have swift huntings in StarClan, little one. I hope Bramblepaw, Goldenwing, and Cloudstar all take good care of you..." He whispers, sitting back up. "It wasn't Heatherblossom's fault... Sorrelkit probably got hit pretty hard by the Badger, and she's so small.. so fragile... There likely wasn't anything we could've done." He sighs. "Riverstorm and Tallspirit will be crushed..." He cringes. His brother didn't need this right now... They both risked their lives to save their families and their clan, and other than Sorrelkit, Riverstorm had been the only one to get hurt.

Heatherblossom sighs, remembering that Blackhawk had brought Riverstorm in here for something, and turns her attention to the tom. She nearly fainted when she had seen what had happened to him. "Oh my..." She mews faintly rushing over to her brother's side. She learn her head gently against his chest, afraid of what she might hear, and lets out a deep sigh of relief. A faint heartbeat. She rushed to the herb storage, gathering as much cobwebs and healing herbs as she could carry, and hurried back to her brother.

Larkkit tried to scramble away from Icewing. He grunted with effort as he struggled. "Daddies! They need me! I want to help! Badger!" he gasped desperately.

Icewing crouched down infront of Larkkit, blocking his path. "Hey, Hey. Easy. Your daddies are good, strong warriors. They can fight the badger. They're really smart, they can figure out something." She promises, not yet knowing what happened to Riverstorm. "Besides, you're still little. They wouldn't want you to get hurt by the badger. They care about you."

Heatherblossom bandaged her brother's tail, doing her best to stop the bleeding and use the proper herbs for healing. She'd try to get him to lick up a poppy seed or two to ease his pain every once and a while. When she finished, she gave a deep sigh. She was worried for her brother... Would he have to retire now? He was still young... She padded back over to Blackhawk and Dawnstripe. "I've done the best I could for him. All we can do now is wait." She announces. "What happened back there?" She mews to Blackhawk, a worried flash in her eyes.

Blackhawk sighs. "Riverstorm said he had a plan to get the badger away from camp for good. After everyone else was safe back at camp, I begin to help him with it. The plan was for him to lead the badger into the gorge, and i stayed along behind it to make sure it followed him." He began. "But than a rogue she-cat messed with the badger, ruining part of the plan. I had to grab its attention, and make it chase both of us. The plan changed to where we'd lead it in together, but it didn't work that well. Riverstorm was still trying to focus on me I think, and he wasn't paying much attention to the ground or how close he was to the gorge. I was following the new plan, and slid out of the way to let the badger go past us and fall into the gorge. But.." He sighs, trailing off with a hard blink. "But Riverstorm tripped on something. He slid off and clung onto the edge, and when the badger fell, he took Riverstorm's tail with him."

Heatherblossom blinks solemnly. "I see. Should we tell Tallspirit and Icewing, or should we wait?" She mews.

Blackhawk shrugs. "I think we should tell Icewing, but wait to tell Tallspirit. She'd be less shocked because she wouldn't be able to see him, but she'd still care, and she knows not to panic." He suggests.

Larkkit sat down in defeat with a huff of annoyance. He kneaded his paws nervously on the ground and stared around intently, waiting for Riverstorm and Tallspirit to arrive. "Th-they will come...Won't they?" he asked slowly, as if afraid of the answer.
