You duck behind a tree and do your best to huddle amongst the sparse grass. It won't shelter you for long, but it may give you a head start if you need to run.

To your relief, it's only Divercloud and Eveningtail - Eveningstar, you remind yourself. She looks a little more serene than last night, though she's still tired and unhappy. Divercloud walks next to her, looking his age. Both are grave and silent.

Somehow, they don't notice you, being so immersed in their own thoughts that they just walk right by. You wait until they're out of the woods before continuing your investigation.

There's not much else here - the strangers' scent certainly isn't ForestClan, but your own Clanmate's is clear enough. By the smell, this is a regular meeting place, so they might show up soon. You're tempted to wait until they show up so you can privately confront them, but you have no idea how long that'll be.

Sit around and wait.

You're not willing to stick around for much longer - it's not certain when they'll be coming back, and besides that, you're getting hungry. You skipped out on breakfast just to catch Thistlenose as quickly as you could. You did say yesterday that you would be training with Applefoot, anyway.

You stroll after your new leader and the medicine cat, making sure to keep off of their backs (stopping and waiting if you catch sight of them) and just enjoying the rising sun on your back. It's still pretty early in the morning, but as you reach camp you can hear the patrols organizing themselves and greeting Eveningstar when she walks through the door.

When you pass through yourself, you can see the camp really waking up - cats are crawling out of their dens and stretching, there's already some cats at breakfast, and even the kits are poking their heads out of the nursery.

You're about to go for the food when you're stopped by Beefur, who narrows his eyes.

"Now, where have you been?" he says sternly, looking you over. "Knotpaw said that you left very early this morning to hunt."

"Well...yeah." You try to look indifferent.

"And yet you don't have any prey?" He peers at you suspiciously. "And, for that matter, you smell a little odd. Care to explain that?"

Before you can respond, someone shouts for him to come join the patrol. He gives you another look before following after the group. You sigh in relief, and head for the fresh-kill pile.

Applefoot finds you after a while, and when breakfast is over you're out for training again.

"So, what do you want to do, kid?" she says once you reach the sandy hollow. "Do you want to keep tracking, or something else?"

Swimming.
Hunting.
Fighting.
Climbing.
Keep tracking.
