I find it really easy, honestly.
That could be because I'm a very picky eater and only eat a small variety of foods, so my characters usually only eat those foods.
And since I have those foods all the time, I'm pretty good at describing them and how they taste.

Thank you.

Not exactly. Most of my characters are animals, so all I have to do is research how a specific animal eats it's food, then go from there. It can get a bit gory where the carnivores (which pretty much all of my animal characters are) are concerned, but I never meant it as a children's story anyway.

I think eating scenes are a great way to express a character's personality. If they're meant to be sensual, they will end up savoring their food and slowly licking their fingers at the end of the meal. If they are meant to be scary, they will wolf it down like a... well, a wolf. xD And so on.

Honestly, I've never really written one. I always have problems with skipping past detail like that so my characters never really have time for eating. Or else, I'll write something like "they had supper and then did this."

Not really. It depends what the scene is about (since it's never about the eating in and of itself). Like Off The Falls, I think it's a great way of showing character. The way people eat, their manners, in different situations. E.g. a peasant will have different eating manners than a prince. Or a person out with his friends will be eating differently than a person who has just lost his whole family. Or the same character will behave differently in a relaxed situation than in a pressing one. Same goes for eating - e.g. eating a normal meal with his family vs. being given food in prison or in the interrogation room.
Or, you know, when the character is being poisoned.

Yep Rijo!
Eating scenes.. hmm..
It's actually never occurred to me to write one, but I agree with Rolly on it. I probably have written one, but I'm so caught up in the mood of my story I don't even notice that I've written a food scene. Either way, mine usually end up all classy and stuff since in two of my story ideas, the main human characters in both are woman and they both have those easy going, gentle attitudes with a small formal hint. (One is a French photographer and the other is a zoologist that's studying a life of a big cat.)
Signature under construction.
