[ Please note that having read The Zombie Survival Guide and the same titled World War Z (both by Max Brooks) will help you to understand this RP better. Go pick up a copy at your local Books-A-Million! or Barnes & Noble. You won't regret it. ]

"Have you heard the news that you're dead?
No one ever had much nice to say,
I think they never liked you anyway.
Oh, take me from the hospital bed
Wouldn't it be grand? It ain't exactly what you planned.
And wouldn't it be great if we were dead?"

Some refer to it as "The Walking Plague," or newer more "hip" titles such as "World War Z" or "Zombie War One." I personally dislike this last moniker as it implies an inevitable "Zombie War Two."
Even though we have (temporarily?) defeated the zombie threat, the survivors still struggle to rebuild society. The stories that lie therein are the tales of those survivors.

I'm sure that introduction made you think the war is over. It's not. Despite the fact the government is back and running (in Hawaii, strangely enough), there are still outbreaks in safe zones everywhere. Our story takes place in southwest Virginia in a small fortress-like city named Troy ("As long as zombies don't learn how to make giant wooden horses, we should be fine" some have joked).
But Troy isn't perfect. While sniffer dogs weed out the infected before they enter, sieges still occur outside the twenty feet high thick concrete walls and reinforced steel gates. Houses are raised on stilts like homes on a flood plain, with retractable ladders and similar walkways between the domiciles. With the shielded wells, solar cell roofs, and gardens abound; it's obvious what the intent of the design was.
The weather is bipolar, peaking at nearly 110 degrees Fahrenheit and slipping down ten degrees below freezing during the winter. (Winters however come in handy as zombies freeze during that season, allowing for the residents to raid nearby cities.) The snow has turned grey from all the pollution and ash in the air.
Summers are almost literal Hell, with heat stroke taking its toll (thanks to no air conditioning).
Fights break out in the anarchic society within the walls, some leading to death. All there is for leadership is a small board committee, which is constantly conflicted with different opinions.
Though overall, it's better than being stuck out somewhere, alone, against fifty thousand zombies.
--.. Rules ..--
1. REALISM. I expect you to have rudimentary survival skills. I don't expect you to know how to purify water with nothing but copper pipe or anything that complicated, but knowing how to survive in the wild is a must.
2. No godmodding, powerplaying, Gary/Mary Sues, etc. You know the drill.
3. This is semi-literate and above, I therefore expect at least three paragraphs per post, more if you have several characters. (And I mean real paragraphs, at least five sentences, no half-assing.)
4. I don't expect anymore from you than I do from myself. If you have writer's block, just say so, so we don't think you're -specifically- brushing us off.
5. There is a limit of four characters. Though you may have more if some are "kill off" characters that may be murdered or infected.
6. More realism. Anyone who's shot a simple revolver knows how hard it is to get a consistant shot on center mass, let alone on a moving, albeit slow, object the size of a melon. You have to miss sometimes.
7. No drama in OCC. Got something against someone? Keep it to yourself. If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all.
8. Romance, infighting, and drama are the basis of this RP, and is therefore encouraged.
9. Follow all forum rules. I don't expect to have to stress this, but better safe than sorry.
