If you could choose to take a role in the Harry Potter books/movies as a new character (as if Rowling edited the series) who would you be, and how would you affect the story without bending the plot?

i would become a girl, pretty shy, but still nearly always be up to no good. either i would try to get with draco myself, or try to pair him up with hermione. i don't care if that bends the plot, i'm still doing that.

I'm not keen on inserting myself into stories (I prefer subtle things with original characters that don't ever affect canon events in any way), but if I was asked to, I'd just be a Ministry worker. Maybe I have the misfortune to be assigned to Magical Law Enforcement as Yaxley's secretary? Haha, I'm sure he'd be rotten to me as well as everyone else if I didn't do everything he wanted right away.

This is literally me except I wouldn't be shy. I'd probably like tease everyone and annoy the heck out of snape.

oh, and i'd be using magic every chance i got. summer would kill me gah no magic for months

also, this brings a question to mind. they made sure it was known that there is no magic outside of hogwarts, so why, in one of the movies (i think it's Ootp) starts with him trying to do lumos maxima...

It was Prisoner of Azkaban. I think that's a pretty well-known blooper! I actually didn't like that movie as much as the others. It changed way too much for my tastes, which is sad because I loved the casting choices for Sirius and Remus.

That is a cool question. I'd still be a Ravenclaw, I think, although I might ask the Sorting Hat for Gryffindor just to be in the middle of the action. I'd probably be a huge jerk to Cho Chang, but otherwise I think I'd be my typical Ravenclaw self, quiet, constantly reading, and knows-everything. It would be my life's mission to get Hermione and Draco together at all costs. It may actually go bad if I were to join them because in POA I'd ask Lupin and Sirius to marry me.

Speaking of the Lumos thing, they're always using it in the books when they shouldn't. Harry used Lumos in OOTP when the Dementors came (Chapter 1 or 2 I think) and everything went dark. This was before his Patronus Charm, and they didn't catch him for the Lumos, just the Patronus. I'm pretty sure he also uses it to do his holiday homework (POA, I think...).

Maybe it's so easy to disguise/pretty much useless spell it doesn't need punishment?
