Lady has a custom...?

Tessa gave me my custom in exchange for the Avian pangolin she now has on her account; I did not expect to receive a custom when I made it for her. Don't go making art for Tess in the hopes of getting anything special in return, especially because when Keroberos and I got our customs there were less than a thousand people on CS... Just had to make that clear, to keep you all from bugging poor Tess ^^'

Exactly what I was going to say --> Don't start bugging Tess for art. She doesn't make customs for art anymore, and if you start bugging her about it she'll ignore you. Like Moonflight said, she used to make them when CS was much smaller, but CS is giant and if everyone starts thinking that sending her art is going to get them customs, customs might end up being banned in the worst case scenario.

And that post from Maus is from one of the first days this thread was up.

PEOPLE, if you find a custom that is not up on the list, please, PLEASE notify me first so I can contact the owner and ask if they'd like it added to the list. Do not go ahead and assume it's fine to post the link right away because if the owner didn't want their custom posted and saw you went ahead and posted it anyways, it IS RUDE and they could get really upset.

If this continues to go on perhaps I should get rid of this thread, or at least lock it to stop people that aren't listening from posting- this thread is for enjoyment but all that seems to come out of it is custom chaos

I have a question about that rule...
I know its kinda like.. not allowed but to be honest. How many people go through others accounts or trade with them. They are kinda free to see so how come we can't post them?
I guess I would feel odd if people posted my fursona around but as long as they aren't taking it I don't see a problem?

It's a person's personal pet - maybe someone just doesn't want it showcased? It's no different then posting someone's Moondog, or Sundog. How would you like it if people just started posting your pets around the forum without permission? It's an invasion of privacy. Not to mention a person's Custom Pet often has some sort of sentimental value to them, and maybe they just don't feel like sharing it with the rest of CS.

If someone doesn't want their pet shown, it is perfectly in their right to not have it put on display.

Because it brings attention to the account and to the custom. Let's pretend no one knew I had a custom, and it wasn't in a blaringly obvious place, and hidden well out of the way. If you trade with me, most people would really only see my trade groups, not every single group. So you really don't know its there, unless someone is super bored one day and sifts through my bazillions of pet categories. Once someone knows that custom is there, there's a rush of an entire set of feelings by the person who's seeing it altogether. Besides "wow, Cool pet!", it also raises "What did THEY ever do to earn a custom? I REALLY want one too, JUST like that! Why can't we buy one with ChickenDollars?? I REALLY WANT ONE *insert impatient bratty feet stamping* " It also keeps people from trying to beg for the pet itself.

To question why I would deserve my custom in the first place is really kind of rude, and that's for Tess to judge and gift, not anyone else. Then people want dogs/armadillos/sea critters/etc just like that one custom and start begging for them. If I made totally new line art of my custom, I wouldn't want anyone else to have it either. Then it becomes "Well THEY have a custom. If I do something special, can I have one too?" ...and quite frankly, that's not how it works. Nobody really expects their custom.

You would not believe how many PM's I've gotten asking for customs in general because they saw that a staff member had one, and wanted one JUST like it. They weren't even asking about mine, but a hidden one.

That's understandable (for some people it might cause stress too I suppose), though it's always nice when people are willing to let us see 'em!
(A CS armodillo would be awesome)
