@ Exema.~ I love to read those old realistic fiction books like black beauty and the black fox and good timer books like that. I could get lost in them, I love Warrior cats aswell. Though I throw a random mystery or historical fiction(Which is another one I soak up into.) now and then.

I find it easier to write Fantasy as I roleplay animals and writing an animal based story would probably turn out good for me. I'd probably be able to write a nice mystery involving animals or a human- horse book like those good ones I love <3
I really want to get better at realistic fiction though, that is why I have 3 ideas to write. A human - horse piece, one about a photography and a wild pack of wolves, then this one I am doing since it will be based off of my character gameplay (Its a big cat position game) where the writing position will be from a girl who has graduated college and comes to africa to study big cats, and hence starts the study of watching my big cat.

-- I love to write and draw at the darkest time. Inspiration seems to come around 11 pm- 3 am for me xD With a pair of headphones and dubstep, I can do a masterpiece! Though nice, quiet, silent times during the afternoon work aswell.

Uhm, guys, why are you closing a perfectly fine discussion? Nobody insulted anybody else? As far as I can see, we're pretty calm here.

RunningRace wrote:The hunger games has a female lead, hunger games was over played, but I haven't seen people going.. "I HATE THE HUNGER GAMES BECAUSE KATNISS IS A GIRL MAIN CHARACTER." I'm just pointing out here that I haven't seen females being hating for leads, even male + female main characters. I've read plenty of amazing, good selling books with females.

I don't know where you have been, but I have seen loads of negative comments beside the positive ones. She was especially trashed for being indecisive about the boys.

@space deer
Thank you for phrasing that so well. THANK YOU. And bless you.

Also, yes, I would like to agree that just because there is a debate doesn't mean the thread is going to be locked. We're allowed to discuss things.

I closed it because at signature sourcerers everyone was just having a normal (well, they thought so) conversation, and it turned into something like this... and the topic was closed for good.

I really don't want this topic closed off, do you?

From what I understand, the signature thread is because the discussion constantly came up and everyone kept reporting it and it was a mess. This isn't really a mess, it's just a discussion about writing female characters.

Okay fine but if it gets locked don't blame me. I am a fun person but I'm still here to enforce the rules on this topic.

I don't know if there is much more to say about this whole thing, or why it was even brought up. I'm still confused up to now about this entire thing. I don't know why we needed to discuss it, female-male, we may not have the same exact rights but does that really matter?

It's important to discuss because girls everywhere are tired of being told that they can't be in books because they're ""too complicated."" Also, the fact that women are treated as less than men is so so important to bring up, because it affects womens lives so much.

Welcome! Anyways, I just discussed it. It's important to discuss because it affects people so much, and since I"m sure a lot of people on this thread wish to be authors when they are older, its important for them to know that female characters are important.
