6. Look for the attacker
7. Find the herb patch
Roll says... 5: Find the herb patch.
Locating the plant that disguised the assaulter is probably the best option right now. You sort of know where the herb patches are around the territory, so you just start on the south-east border and work your way around from there.
You can't remember the exact smell of the herbs - but you do know that it was so overwhelming that it even covered up the fresh blood. You don't think it was lavender, nor was it tangy enough to be dock or feverfew. In fact, that wasn't a familiar scent to you. Hopefully that's a good sign.
You cruise through the hemlock, horsetail, and watermint, but your search nets you nothing. In hopes of any other clues, you go through every patch of herbs you can find, and you halt when you see the lavender patch has a gap where the plants have been flattened. You can guess that someone rolled in this, but it wasn't the smell that you're looking for...
Unless...
A voice jolts you out of your rumination. "What are you doing?"
You look behind you and notice Rowanpaw and Fogpaw. The toms are standing next to each other, looking puzzled. It occurs to you that you're sitting right in the middle of the patch.
"Oh, uh..." You quickly step out. "Nothing. What're you up to?"
Fogpaw looks amused. "Applefoot wanted us to check on you. She said you were 'acting weird' and that you 'wanted to be left alone'."
"Well, I didn't say that," you reply, a little annoyed that you've been interrupted. "I'm just tired is all."
"Is that why you're sitting here?" Fogpaw gives you a crooked smile. "The term 'taking a break in the lavender patch' isn't literal, you know."
"I wasn't-"
"In any case," says Rowanpaw, glancing sternly at his friend. "We just wanted to see how you're doing."
You hesitate. Maybe you should tell them.
Ask about a cat with scratches.
Tell them what's going on.
Ask for their help with the scent.
Make something up.
