Benedict fixed his bow tie as he watched guests enter the ball. Part of him wanted to go up as one Plumerian caught his eye, but he remained in the corner, tapping history in tandem to the music the band was playing from their area. His curly hair stood up in a mop behind his raven feather mask, his ears perked and listening in.

Disappointed at the lack of substantial food, Rice quickly looked over the dishes. He grabbed a couple of cookies, nibbling on them as he continued his stare down with the table. It wasn't long that a small plumerian (Mocha) came in with her punch and he found himself watching her, he jumped in some surprise him as she started to remove more platters from her bag, though soon after nodded to the ingenuity of the idea, though soon his glaze fell steadily on the salad. Now that looked like something he could get into at least. He put down a couple of cookies he was still holding, including the slightly nibbled one, and inch his way closer to her. He cocked his head as he stared at the desired dish, "You made this leafy dish yourself, right?" He asked as he reach over to grab out a slice of a pear out, before curiously looking at girl.

Mocha was startled by the question, she turned her head towards the noise and looked at the plumie who had asked.
"Yes, wan't some?" She asked, taking the salad tongs out of her bag and placing them in the bowl. She tossed it gently so that everything was in the mix.

Nibbling on the pear slice, nodded, "Yes. Why did you do that?" He said it bluntly, interest in the progress as he didn't know how to prepare food, he wonder briefly if lost something by taking a bit of before hand.

"Why did I toss the salad? So that everything is mixed evenly," she explained adding the dressing into the mix. "We don't want anyone to have all leaves and no pears or nuts." She said thoughtfully. Mocha grabbed a bowl and carefully put some of the salad in. She made sure to put in a few extra pears in as the other plumerian seemed to enjoy them. "Here," Mocha said, handing him the bowl with a fork inside.

Nodding, Rice listened the explanation, yes, that made sense, it was for the purpose of making sure everyone got the same amount of the varies, maybe for nutrition values? It was good idea.. He noticed the extra pears added, and began to wonder is she thought he needed them in his diet? He shrugged it off and took the bowl, staring at the fork before grabbing a leaf and eating it. His attention turned to the dancing couples, finding this girl a very good person for information he looked back to her, "That motion they are doing.. does it serve a purpose?"

"You mean the dancing? Well yes, its an act of appreciation." She explained wondering if her words were right, this plum seemed quite unfamiliar with parties. She didn't quite know how to explain dancing, it was magical... and sweet, and charming? "Friends do it for fun, and couples well... it shows love I guess." Mocha tried to explain to the best of her ability... but she didn't really know what dancing was herself... not ever seeing it before.

"Well maybe you should be less curious." Dae replied trying to make it clear that he wouldn't answer. He really didn't feel like talking to her and his previous experiences with women was that they tend to draw too much attention when they get loud. He was hoping to end the conversation quickly and quietly before things could escalate. He didn't want her to draw attention to him. Why does nobody ever leave me to my notes? Dae pondered as he finished the drink in his hand, This is why I hate coming to social events. Why am I even here?

"I didn't ask to see the notebook, I was just curious," she retorted, feeling like a child. Dae made her feel uncomfortable, and perhaps that was because he was a lot like her. Except male, and a bit more reclusive. "Sorry," Veronica said glancing over at him, "I tend to speak before I think, and things just come out." She stared at her empty punch glass, wondering where things were headed. She wasn't having a fantastic time, but at least she was meeting someone new.

Cocking his head, he pondered what she had told him. There is was again, friends! But used in this way it didn't make sense for it to be an item.. well if she was addressing a couple of plumerians as one group, then maybe friends meant a different number of a group? Then again, why would someone be looking for friends if it was so? Shaking his head, he choose to ignore it, it didn't seem like his business.
Though he now remembered what she said beforehand, appreciation.. he was appreciative of what she had told him and for his bowl of food.. and her and him made a couple of plumerians.. but what about love? He cocked his head again, thinking up a way to remedy this. He gave up quickly.
"I am on a puzzling thought, if there are two of us and I want to show that I am appreciative of what you have done, how will I be able to show it when I don't know where to put the love?"
