Ashclaw thought, I thought he would've liked it better to play 'the game' all over again. But he said nothing, not wanting to give Hawk any ideas. "So you destroy Clans to build your allies and for entertainment?" Ashclaw asked.

Hawk shook his head. "Only half correct. Yes I do it for the fun of it, but my allies are not a clan. They are rogues and loners who want me to help them steal food or territory, or just commit a good old fashioned murder. If there is a bad deed to be done, they come to me to help make it happen."

"They have no loyalty to you. Not true loyalty. Someone could twist their minds to work for them. To kill you. Just give them better wages," Ashclaw purred.

Hawk snickered. "That's the best part! Each one has something they care for deeply. Something they would do anything to protect. Family, things like that. If they try to double cross me, well, you can guess what happens next...."

"You wouldn't dare get your paws dirty," Ashclaw meowed. "If they dare to double-cross you... What if they killed you? The others would scatter, you wouldn't be able to give them orders to kill the double-crosser," He continued.

Hawk winked with a smirk. "There is more to me than meets the eyes. You can't possibly tell what it is. Another thing is that why would I need to be double crossed. I give them what they need, they assure their allegiances to me."

"Oh, I forgot something," Ashclaw smirked. "If one cat happened to double-cross you... But perhaps they didn't mean it? Perhaps it was just a slip of mind? You would destroy what they loved, all the same, yes?" He said, then continued, "What if she happened to love nothing? Nothing... other than you?" Ashclaw laughed. "Would you destroy yourself then?" He meowed.

"I would kill her." Hawk said simply. "Love is a weakness almost all living things have. Loving someone can be dangerous. All things die, sooner or later, so no need to get attached to anyone or thing."
