Roll says... 9: Help her look.
"I can help you look," you say.
"You should wait here and get that scratch looked at, really..." starts Eveningtail, but you shake your head.
"It's just a little scratch. It can wait."
Divercloud doesn't seem ruffled about it, only pausing to check and confirm that your scratch will heal by itself. Eveningtail doesn't protest further, just leads you out of camp. You decide to put your nose to work again, and begin sniffing around for any trace of the molly. Fortunately, she leaves a much more obvious trail than the deputy - one that has little droplets of blood every few tail lengths.
Tracking Skill +1.
It takes a minute, but you reach the southern border. Apparently Cinderpaw had stopped here for a minute, judging by the unusually large patches of drying blood, before crossing the river. You're willing to bet that she's left the territory. For how long, you don't know. Eveningtail isn't willing to follow her just yet, instead plopping down on the beach and sighing.
"We can still go after her," you suggest.
"It won't be worth it." Eveningtail closes her eyes. "If she cares to come back, she will. This isn't the first time she's trailed the goose, so to speak. I doubt it will be the last."
You sit down near the shore, using the refreshingly cold water to clean your muzzle. The two of you are quiet for a while - you're almost certain that the deputy fell asleep when she suddenly says, "Oh, right. I had something to talk to you about."
You do your best to not stiffen. "What was it?"
"It's just...a small matter." Eveningtail sounds uncertain; she's trying to word it carefully. "I noticed that you...left camp, in the middle of the night."
"You did too." You turn and look at her. "I was following you."
She flinches like she was swung at. "That's...yes, I did."
Why were you out?
We're equally in trouble, then.
I heard you talking to someone.
