Trivia for Story One
This is where information that generally isn't relevant to the story can be found.
CLAN TRIVIA
- Certain parts of the culture are changed from canon Clan traditions. For example...
- Toms are not allowed near the nursery if there are kits less than a moon old. This rule originated from the days when the Clan was relatively new - toms were still aggressive, even murderous towards kits that didn't have their blood. In order to keep the community in harmony and the kits alive, any tom who was not the medicine cat (and thus selectively chaste, therefore not seen as a threat) was disallowed from the nursery altogether. As the Clans became more 'civilized', the rule was slowly reduced to simply one moon.
- Like the aggressiveness in toms, the cannibalism in queens was eventually bred out. However, some still believe that in times of great stress, the queens will devour their kittens, and some will still just straight up abandon their kittens if their nerves are pushed too far. As a precaution, most cats leave the nursery alone, unless they're bringing food or checking up on a patient.
- The cats are technically diurnal, meaning that they are active during the day and the night. This is where the culture differences in the two Clans are most apparent - BrookClan tends to be more active during the day, while ForestClan prefers to be active during the night. For this reason, ForestClan has better night vision.
- Another difference is the diction and tone the Clans use - ForestClan cats tend to speak quietly (so as to not scare off prey), and use more literal phrasing. BrookClan cats are usually louder (as their prey lives underwater) and use more slang.
- The mythology of the big cats is still present. However, there are some differences - Leopard, Tiger and Lion are three individuals, rather than a species, and were noted for their actions and colors. It is said that they serve as the guardians of the Clans, with Tiger favoring ForestClan, Leopard favoring BrookClan, and Lion serving as the balance of power.
- It's not entirely uncommon for kits to die before they turn a moon old, especially for first-time mothers or large litters. However, Clan life provides much more safety and health than loner life, so it's more likely that the kits will survive than not.
- Leaders do not gain nine literal lives when they become leader - instead, they supposedly receive the memories of nine cats, so they can lead their Clan better than the previous leader. This is supported by leaders having knowledge of things that they have never interacted with before, as well as almost all leaders becoming vastly mature than they were as a deputy.
CHARACTER TRIVIA
- The father of Sparrowpelt's kits is not in the Clan - it's rumored that she had a one-nighter with a loner.
- Rookpaw's father is unknown, and she was the only surviving kit out of her litter.
