CookieLittleKitten - I don't know if you understand the contest the way I worded it. You'd don't enter a pre-existing story. Each person is assigned a scenario and they create a diary based upon it. Here's the explanation I gave to someone over PM:

I'll start at the beginning. You do not actually start writing until the competition starts. During the first round of the competition, each contestant is assigned a different, random scenario. For sake of example, let's say that you end up with the scenario of a girl who lives in a yellow house (this is just an example, as this is an entirely stupid scenario). You would then have to write an introduction for the diary of a girl who lives in a yellow house within a certain time limit. After the time limit expires, the diaries will be read, judged, scored, and someone may be eliminated from the competition.

After this, the challenge for round two will be announced (after round one, the prompt is the same for everyone, and will usually be much more general.) For example, let's say the challenge for round two is to have something crazy happen to your main character at school. At this point, you would create the next entry in your pet diary (the one you wrote the intro for in the first round, about the girl in a yellow house). So, for round two, you'd write about something crazy happening to the girl who lives in the yellow house. After the time limit has passed, the diaries will be judged and someone may be eliminated.

This then goes into round three, which will present everyone with another challenge that you have to write about in your pet diary. In short: you will write one entry for your pet diary every round.
