What do you think makes a good female character? What traits do like to see in them?
I like when they have self-confidence. I'm not drawn to read or write specific traits. I could like a character for being one, but hate another character in another book for being the same way. It depends on their outlook on life and how the writer handled the trait.
What do you think makes a female character "strong"?
When she has emotional strength, (she's not scared to deal with her emotions) and she can take responsibility for her actions.
What do you think makes a poor female character? What traits do you dislike in female characters?
I don't like whiny, catty, insecure characters. I hate to read a book and the girl MC wishes they're "more developed" and generally is extremely insecure about their body or anything else.
It's easy to be insecure. Everyone is. But when you read a book and the character doesn't believe in themself at all, it's a downer. Especially if it's a character-lead plot. How can they get what they want when they're that way? If they change, great! I'll read it. If they don't I won't like it much.
What types of female characters do you like? What types do you dislike?
I like characters who have something to give through their story. Like Delly in True... Sort Of. She has an interesting voice and I love all the words she makes up.
I also like characters who are strong enough to (at least try to) support their own problems. They try to fix them or they get help. (Both are good.)
I really don't like sarcastic, angsty characters. That's a huge trend in books, though. (Mainly YA, I guess.) If they sound like Katniss, (their voice, I mean) then I tend to dislike them.
Any other advice for writing interesting, strong female characters?
I think the first thing people need to work on is creating a real character and then a strong female. But only focusing on a creating a strong female might make her flat.
I think a strong female character learns from her mistakes, gets help if she needs it, and doesn't purposely get in a problem over her head.
I agree with Tesalong, strong characters grow.

What do you think makes a good female character? What traits do like to see in them?
I think a good female character is caring, kind, but strong and builds others up. she stands up for herself, others and what she believes in, but knows when to dismiss problems as just silly, not worth a huge out roar. she knows how to stop problems and cope with her surroundings.

What do you think makes a female character "strong"?
most likely her spirit and her brains. she know how to deal with problems as they arise she has enough spirit to stand up when she needs to and back down when she needs to.

What do you think makes a poor female character? What traits do you dislike in female characters?
a character who thinks she better then everyone else or someone who isn't portrayed right.

What types of female characters do you like? What types do you dislike?
the ones who are not afraid to fall, will get back up an start again.
the ones who think that different is bad and that everyone she be dumb and pretty and boy crazy, the basic poplur girl in movies.

Any other advice for writing interesting, strong female characters?
don't make her perfect, let her fall but let her get bake up ament her mistakes and fix them.

What do you think makes a good female character? What traits do like to see in them?
The only requirements I have for good female characters are: 1) she has to be interesting and 2) she has to be a round character (as opposed to flat) - means she has to feel real.
What I like in them is entirely subjective, so I take that as a separate question. I like many types of characters, but I guess the ones I like the most are those that are intelligent, sassy and sarcastic. Other than that they can be anything. (I don't really care what gender, either. As long as a character is intelligent, sassy and sarcastic, that's almost a guarantee I'll like them).

What do you think makes a female character "strong"?
Strong in the sense of "well-developed": well... being consistent. A character who is a quiet brooder by nature will never suddenly become a bouncing ball full of happy energy. They might grow into someone who broods less and enjoys life more, but they sure as hell won't go about it by becoming bubbly.
Strong in the sense of "being strong": Since being strong isn't really anything gender-specific for me, so anything that would make any person strong would also make a female person strong. That said, the most important trait for me would be being able to learn from mistakes. That and having integrity, owning your actions, taking responsibility.
I have to say that no person ever can be strong all the time. That's simply not possible. Which means that I regard those characters as strong who are the way I described most of the time or even just much of the time. The instant a character is all that ALL of the time, they become boring and unreal (=flat).

What do you think makes a poor female character? What traits do you dislike in female characters?
To make it simple - the opposite of what I said makes a good one xD Oh, and when they never make mistakes. Characters who never make mistakes are the most boring ones, to my mind.
Traits I subjectively dislike in female characters... when they are overly hysteric. I seriously can't stand hysteric characters. And I don't mean those who act hysteric when it's socially acceptable to act that way. I mean those who are way too melodramatic. Dunno if any of you still know "The Bold and the Beautiful" - it's a soap my mother used to watch all the time and it had Brooke Logan. Well, Brooke Logan is such an example. And it happens way too often to female characters (I'd hate male characters like that too, if there were enough of them out there). They are generally stereotyped much more than male ones (thank our patriarchy for that...). So I guess that's why I can't stand that trait. Also, I get headaches when they start screaming and hyperventilating. Reading about it is definitely easier.

What types of female characters do you like? What types do you dislike?
Actually, I see all people as people, not according to gender. Which is why I see characters the same way. For me, it's all about being well-rounded and about the mix of traits they have. Any gender can have those traits.
I like the interesting ones and dislike the boring ones. Interesting ones usually have an interesting drive / critical need.

Any other advice for writing interesting, strong female characters?
Think of them as human beings first, females second. Else you'll always write stereotypes first.

I'd do the questionare, but I'm on my phone and I can't correctly copy/paste things.
My Opinion:
I believe in feminism and dislike any boy crazy teens that practically obsess over clothes, shopping- basically the Bratz and Barbie.
I used to like them as a kid, but only because...I was a kid.
If I find a character relatable and I'd like to befriend her by the end of the book, then it's a "strong" female character.
To be honest, I'm not really a Katniss Everdeen type person.
I'm sensitive, a bit naive, soft spoken, and insecure. I can't slay dragons and whatnot.
Not everyone can be powerful, as long as they can take up for their friends/family/loved ones or theirselves, that's good enough.
