I have a few questions for everyone to help me out with writing a strong female character. You can answer as a writer or reader, or both.
What do you think makes a good female character? What traits do like to see in them? What do you think makes a female character "strong"?What do you think makes a poor female character? What traits do you dislike in female characters? What types of female characters do you like? What types do you dislike?Any other advice for writing strong female characters?- Code: Select all

I just want to gain some ideas and thoughts on writing female protagonists. I'm having trouble with one specific character of mine. I'm mostly afraid of her becoming too clichéd and as a result becoming uninteresting or dislikable. It's horrible, but I really struggle with writing certain types of female characters. XP I think it's because I haven't really found too many good female protagonists of this specific character type. So I'm not the best at writing them it seems. I've been trying to write up snippets that further explore her character so I can get a better idea of how to handle her, but she still comes across as... "off".

To be honest, I like to see a bit of bravery, but some brain cells are wonderful.
What do you think makes a female character "strong"?
I think a girl who is stubborn and headstrong, but knows when to back down.
What do you think makes a poor female character? What traits do you dislike in female characters?
A girl who acts like the stereotype girl, can be summed up with this one word: stupid.
What types of female characters do you like? What types do you dislike?
From my point of view, a... half-tomboy is the best.
Any other advice for writing interesting, strong female characters?
Be yourself.
