Aw, Dixie is adorable -
I had a german shepherd + golden mix
his name was Charlie but we called him Bubba

Here was the beautiful babe, using me as a pillow;


He had to be my childhood best friend - miss him to pieces.
Watching the Dixie videos, I actually teared up remembering him.

He was my dog since I was a baby - loved him to bits too
( and I wanted to use him as a horsey XD but that's besides the
point! )

My neighbor found out [that Dixie is DA] and all of a sudden Dixie is a vicious animal who is going to possibly maul her 11 year old daughter.
/After/ they'd been playing together for months.

^Anyone remember this from Dog Owner Chat?^
I was leaving to take Dixie on a walk with the daughter, and Dixie was barking out of excitement and doing her happy growls while grabbing her ball when we walked up. The mother was giving Dixie this disgusted look, I swear, I've never wanted to slap someone so much. >__> SHES NOT HA! My gosh I just- AGH, I just had to let some this out. >__<

I'm so so proud of Dixie. It's been...wow, what has it been? 6-7 months? since Dixie's had a bad incident with our dogs. For the past week or so, I've started letting her out around the house with the other dogs for a little while each day. She plays with Murdoch on the couch every morning and they play in the evenings in the house too. It's so, idk how to explain it XD, it feels so good watching them play and interact again like when they were pups. I'm happy <3
AND BEST OF ALL, DIXIES GROWL IS BACK (to stay I hope! It was hard at first trying to see her warnings without a growl).
The tension between myself and my relatives has diminished somewhat too. I don't hear talk of getting rid of Dixie near as much as I used to, or at least they don't speak about it around me.

Dixie will still react on leash, if there's another dog on leash, when she sees one - I've been trying to shower her in treats and praise before she sees them/reacts and while they're walking past; I hope I'm doing it right. (Or I take her behind some trees/a car/or a trashcan and try to avoid them completely XP)
But for the most part, concerning dogs barking from windows/doors/in fenced yards, she chooses to not react and to ignore them.

The pitbull that rushed into our yard and got Dixie worked up back in May, hasn't been running loose anymore as far as I've seen. They've either had him chained or on a leash.
