I'm sure most of you saw my posts about moving to the UK, right? Well the friend I'll be moving with, I told her oh, by the way, I'm gunna need to go pick up my fish after we get there. And what's the first thing she says?

"Omg it's a FISH"

I really, really hate it when people say that. "It's just a fish" "you can just get a new one"
It's not "just a fish", it's a live animal that I brought into my home and it relies on me to take care of it. And I'm not going to play god and take away its life for something like this when there ARE other options.

And this is why I'm getting a betta tattooed around my ankle. So when people ask "oh, why did you get that tattoo?" I can say "to show appreciation to fish some more, cause they sure as hell need it"

I hear the "it's just a fish" thing all the time. I hate it. And your tattoo idea is cool, I like it. It sounds pretty too.

Would it be okay to house a Male betta in a 55 gallon bowfront alone? or with a school of neons?

...Are you sure you ment 55 gallons as in 208-ish liters?
Since like 55 gallon is HUGE for only one betta. I mean it's totally fine for male betta to be alone(sometimes it's better that way) in such big tank, but it might get little boring to you as the tank will look fairly empty(unless you are planting it with ton of live plants). So a school and maybe some bottom fish could live it up a little more. But totally your choice. :)
As for neons you could probably easily put something like 40-50 in with it in 55 gallon(I got 33 blue neons in 33.8 gal) or maybe even more. XD They are pretty small fish...

I would get big harem of females for him to be with(with that size tank, I would get 10-15 females). that way you have more bettas to watch, just get a good flow of water at the surface(to prevent babies).

Actually the reason i had asked is because I don't want a ton of fish in that tank. Maybe i could get 3 or 4 fancy goldies instead. The reason is that i have OCD and i have to count my fish in my tank three times every time i enter or leave the room to make sure they are all alive. I don'y like dead things. and with my other tank, fish tend to go "Missing" and i only have a couple small barbs and a large spanner barb that had a huge growthspurt while the others didn't.

So i was looking to maybe get a betta and a couple neons, or a couple bigger fish, maybe even one. Don't get me wrong, i love watching tons of little fish, but i spend too much time counting them to make sure that they are all there, well in the past when i had 24 neons in a 29 gallon. then one caught some sort of parasite and they all died over nigh. i had to redo the tank.

Edit: And yes i mean 55 gallons. Huge tank about 3 feet long i wanna say.

I'm sure a betta would be very happy in a 55 gallon. There's really no such thing as too big of a tank for them. Since its a lot of water try might get tired of swimming in such a big tank, though. If you put a betta in there you'd just have to put a lot of taller plants or decorations in with him to give him a lot of places to rest, just in case. Also, large open spaces can be a bit stressful for them so the more plants and decorations you have in the tank, the safer they'll feel.
It is a lot of space for one fish, but you'd definitely have one of the most spoiled bettas around, haha.
Just please don't mix males and females, or put males together. You could do a sorority of females, too, but they might be a bit more difficult to keep track of since they're small and like to zip around.
Oh, and you could keep some cories with them. They're pretty fun.

Goldfish would be fun, too. Once they grow larger they'd be very easy to keep track of, too.

You could do a betta and get a school of cories. :D
I've always wanted a big tank with a betta (or a sorority of females) with a couple of variations of cories. xD

We are getting Max, my betta, a 5-10 gallon tank, is that enough room to have a few females? It's a relatively small tank, do you think a small group of females could feel comfortable in the tank with him?

He's pretty old, and he stopped making "Bubble Nets" a while ago on the surface of his water. Is there still a chance of him breeding with females if we were to put a few in there with Max?
