I know you can't import any type of aquatic animal into australia without a permit and that's quite expensive
I doubt you could take him on the plane with you with all the liquid restrictions

If it's in the same country you might be able to ship him
But you will probably have to leave him with a friend or family member or look for someone near you that can care for him

As I explained, I'm going to the UK, and nobody I know can care for him. I have no other choice, I have to take him with me or leave him to die, which is definitely not an option.

And you're right, I completely forgot about the liquid restrictions. Looks like I'll have to fly/ship him out to my friend to care for until I can pick him up.

I know you said you are going to the UK
But I don't know where you are flying from or what the restrictions are like there
You will have to look up import restrictions
If you attempt to import him without your friend having an import premit (if one is needed)
He won't reach his destination

You find you can't take him with you you may have to place an add on a facebook fish page, or forum in your area and find a good home for him, atleast you know that they will know what they are doing

I live in Canada.
I'll look into the permit, I'm sure it will be fine though. I know we (most) likely don't need one here, not sure about the UK.
I really don't want to give him up though. I've done that before and it ended badly, I don't trust that method anymore.

You could maybe ask some local fish store some tips about shipping your fish. Since the packaging has to be pretty good for the fish to be at least semi comfortable... Airlines might have some instructions/preferances as well...
Though it's stressful for the fish any way, so you do have to consider the fact he might not make it to UK alive...

Yes I have considered that. But I do believe it's the best option. I'll get a pet store that I know knows what it's doing to maybe help package him, and give me some tips.

If you could find a good LFS in the UK as well, your two pet stores may be able to coordinate and your fish could be shipped from one the other in the event that there's weird permit requirements and he can't be shipped right to your friend.

Sorry, not sorry, picture spam.
I finally got a dinosaur bicher for my 55 gallon!

I was going to use one of my other tanks to grow one up big enough to go with my oscar so that he wouldn't see it as food. I wasn't going to go buy one big enough either cause the LFS's around here that take in bigger fish charge an arm and a leg when reselling them.
BUT! Turns out one of my pet store co workers was looking to rehome his that had gotten too big for the other fish in his tank. He has a 55 as well but he's keeping smaller fish that the bicher was starting to think were food so it had to go.
Luckily I was at work that day because he was asking around and no one else was able to take it off his hands, so he was about to resort to selling him to a different LFS, since we can't take in fish at our store. He asked the right person though and she told him I'd been wanting a bigger one and so he came and snagged me out of my department to ask me. Of course I said yes cause omg they are so cute!

So now we have Stallone the Oscar and Statham the Dino Bicher.
Such a cute stinkin face!
Not shy at all either.
He loves swimming around all the plants and decor.
Good shot for size comparison, that's a top fin 75 behind him.
Stallone doesn't see him as food at all, he doesn't even care he's there.
Statham is a little curious about Stallone though. He nudges into him randomly but no nipping from either of them.
Bonus Shot: Stallone thought he could snag up an entire cube of beef heart in one bite. >.<

He is so pretty! Mine is only 4-5 inches long right now so I must wait until he gets around a foot in length so that our foot long Oscar does not eat him lol.

Guys, what type of fish would be good with Mystery Snails?
I'd like to start breeding the snails, but while I'm cycling my tank I need
a fish or something (and odds are I'll not get rid of it after cycling). So,
I'm wondering what to get. Would Cories bother the snails? Guppies?
Tetras? I could take this opportunity to get an African Dwarf Frog...

That is an AMAZING idea! I know the fish store I know would do it, especially since I know them personally. And they are a good fish store as well, always making sure that the well being of the fish comes first. Thank you for telling me this option!
