Show Name: Let the Trumpets Sound
Barn Name: Fanfare
Age: 18 years
Gender: Stallion
Breed: French Saddle Pony
Height: 14.2hh
Colour: Palomino
Markings: Blaze and four socks
Genetics: A/A, f/f and Cr/cr
Personality:
Fanfare, like his name indicates, is loud and proud! He is the first horse to greet you in the field, and will try to follow you out the gate. He can be impatient when he's being saddled, but he stands very still when his hooves are being picked -- especially if he gets a treat! He sometimes tosses his head up when being bridled, but once he is in the arena he's a good boy. Fanfare is bombproof, and won't spook at anything. He can be a bit mean to the other horses, and likes his personal space. Overall, Fanfare is a good beginner horse. He often runs out on vertical jumps, but he'll trot and canter over little jumps and poles with no problem.
History:
A few years ago, Fanfare was owned by a family who treated him almost like a pet. They would call him in (he knows his name), and he would get the royal treatment: a full grooming and a bag of feed before being let back out into the field. The family moved away, though, and sold him to a close friend. His new owners were just as loving as the first, but couldn't keep him due to financial instability, so they sold him to us. He was a bit spoiled, and all that food from his previous homes had added up! He quickly learned to be patient, and he is very well-adjusted now and gets along with our other lesson horses.

What is your favourite aspect of the trumpet as an instrument? (Bonus points for detail)
Hooooo boy. If you had asked me this question two years ago, I wouldn't have had an answer. Now, though, I do. And it's a long one.
About two years ago, I joined my school's band. At first, I wanted to play flute, but I couldn't make a sound on either that or the clarinet, which was my next option. I settled for the trumpet, partly because I liked the instrument, but it was also the smallest brass instrument -- I didn't want to have to carry home a trombone!
Now, after two years, I wouldn't have it any other way.
As for my favourite aspect, I couldn't pick just one. The trumpet is versatile, portable, and sounds great! I play in the jazz band as well as the concert band, and I love the fact that I can play the same instrument everywhere. (If I ever decided to join a mariachi band, I'd be all set too!) The trumpet is small -- just like this stallion -- which makes it easy to hold and carry, and it's not too heavy or awkward to hold for longer periods of time. Plus, that characteristic trumpet sound is fantastic!
As you can tell, I love the trumpet as an instrument, but also because I've met friends just by playing it. If I hadn't decided on this instrument, I probably wouldn't have met one of my closest friends. The trumpet has also helped me be more outgoing.
This is probably too long of a rant already, so I'll wrap it up.
To me, the trumpet is the perfect instrument, not only because of the sound, but also the small size and the good feelings I associate with it. All in all, all I can say is that I just love that shiny bell!
