Over a century ago, mankind faced a new enemy; the Titans.

Titans are unintelligent creatures that greatly resemble male humans with a lack of reproductive organs. Still they all are deformed by human standards as they posses a variety of different abnormalities as well as the ability to regenerate. They are driven by their sole desire to devour humans. However, they appear to have no need to feed. As of now the origin of the Titans is still unknown.
The difference of power between mankind and the Titans was so overwhelming it drove humankind to the brink of extinction. The surviving humans built three Walls: Maria, Rose and Sina. For the next century they lived under their protection.

However, this roleplay is not simply about the people within those three walls, like so many are.

This one starts out in Hirakata, a small village located a fair distance southwest of the three walls set in the original Attack on Titan

story. This is uncharted land to the Scouting Legion, being in a direction never explored in expeditions. This village is completely

unknown to the three walls, and there is nobody within Hirakata that knows of humanity's main territory. Surrounding this small

plot of land is a 15-meter-tall wall that is short enough for taller titans to peek over and stretch their limbs over in feeble attempts to

reach the humans. The entire territory is of a 15-mile diameter; the outskirts belonging to livestock and agricultural lands on the

west- southernmost side, the horse ranches on the southernmost side, deciduous forest on the northernmost, and the main village in

the center.


The town's most plentiful food source is livestock, namely cows, sheep, pigs, chickens, and occasional fish from the river. Because of

the surplus of protein and calcium-rich meats, the diets of these civilians lead to a very robust and strong build to contrast with the

three walls' skinny and underfed people. Crops are of the usual norm: grains, corn, beans, potatoes, carrots, greens, etc. Metals are

also a necessity that can be found in the local mines, as armor and weapons are necessary for competitive combat and jousting on

horseback.


In addition, horses are the most common farm animal to be seen. The horses of this village are the means of transportation, many of

them specially bred by the Sterling family to trot and run at normal speeds, though be capable of very short (1-2 minute) bursts that

are of unbeatable speed, even by Scouting Legion steeds. However, horses are not limited to transportation; many times in the

outskirts of the village people use horses for plowing fields, and it is not uncommon to see competitions such as racing,

cross country, jousting, and just plain horseback combat.


In Hirakata, currency is not necessary, food products and basic household tools replacing coins to help in the proper lifestyles and

survival of every family. The goal of the population is to survive as a whole instead of bickering over money and power.

But, all that is good does not last...
All was well and thriving in Hirakata until a forbidding storm crept its way into the secluded town's skies. Thunder boomed furiously in the black clouds and lightning blasted its way through trees, homes... and the wall. In that moment, through the crumbling stones that once made the solid, unyielding wall, a bone-chilling smile and a fan of blonde hair could be seen through the large, charred gap.

Meanwhile, Eren felt his gut twist as all the titans surrounding him and the others suddenly turned towards a certain direction- southwest of the three walls. He directed his horse parallel to the titans' path, and sped away, the others following suit behind him with hands on their hilts, prepared for battle.

Will the untrained village of Hirakata

survive this turmoil with the aid

The storm will occur a bit after the roleplay begins. In the beginning, all of the OCs will be living life in the village. Canon characters will be preparing for the excursion, and once they have left that will be when the fun begins. I will say when the storm approaches. If you want a bit of information about what's somewhat planned for the roleplay, here: After the titans break through the walls, a large massacre is going to ensue. Your OC characters are going to be the only survivors, and the Survey Corps will take them back to the walls for questioning. Your characters can choose if they'd want to join the Survey Corps, and then live out as a "normal" soldier- albeit under suspicion of the wall residents. After all, in their eyes, who knows if you're really on their side or not? You'll be aiming to take revenge on a rather specific titan... the one that further broke the walls, allowing the other titans in. The Smiling Titan.

Brace yourselves. These rules shouldn't hinder you too much if you're armed with common sense, but they may seem intimidating through sheer number. Don't worry, and READ ON ;D

Please read this.

-All of Tess's rules apply.

-No godmodding or controlling another person's character.

-No Mary-sue or Gary-sues.

- E c h o is my co-owner. Treat her with respect.

- ALL OCs start out in the village. This allows the roleplay to be a true combining of worlds- Canon meets OC.

-Keep romance down. Light kissing is all right, and walks somewhere together, but seriously. This is Attack on Titan, not Romeo and Juliet. The only reason to need to fade to black is going to be in the attack scenes.

-Please, at least try to play canons accurately. All I ask.

-This is Attack on Titan. A good number of ((OC)) characters may die eventually unless something gets in the way. However, the major protagonists, like Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Levi, Jean, ect. aren't going to die. Obviously xD Characters that do actually die in the show... well, they're not invulnerable.

-Your characters need to have regular human names. They can be uncommon/rare human names, of course, just... human names. Trust me, that actually needed to be addressed xD

-Your characters need to be human. Fully human. This is Attack on Titan, not Black Butler. There are no demons, angels, et cetera.

-Please, make your characters semi-natural at least, like in the series. Don't have neon green hair, bright, rainbow eyes, blue skin... you guys sort of get the idea, right? Right?

-For the villagers: I have the feeling a lot of people want their characters to end up in Levi's squad, and that's okay. HOWEVER: you're going to have to try and impress Levi enough with your abilities through the progression of the roleplay. However, in reference to rules two and three, do not create the "perfect character". Even Mikasa has flaws, and will make mistakes at times. The person playing Levi is going to be making those decisions as to who should be part of his squad. However, obviously, not all characters are going to make it. After all, there can't be ten people in the Special Ops.

-If you can, try to make at least somewhat of a good male-female ratio. If you have four characters, make sure at least one of them is a guy/girl :3 However, I won't nail on you if you really don't want to play a male or a female character, I'm the same way.

-You NEED to post, at a minimum, 4-5 WELL DEVELOPED sentences. Correct grammar and spelling would be much appreciated, as this is semi-lit.If you're having SEVERE writer's block, or if you are posting for more than two characters, you can post 3 sentences. Just don't make a habit of doing so.

-When you make your form, say you have three characters, it doesn't matter if they're related or something, please make a separate form for each character. The same goes for when you're posting with your characters, don't mesh multiple people together into one paragraph. Separate them into different paragraphs.

-Please, keep language down! This is a child's site. Starring them out or this weird stuff "(#)*$#$!" doesn't make them any less of a swear word!

-Please refrain from having OOC coversations without posting for your characters. The only time that rule may be lifted is if your characters are stuck because a person isn't posting and you're discussing what to do with your characters. It is required that you use (( )) when OOC.

- If you do not respond within four weeks of your last post, and do not PM me or a mod about your absence, a PM will be sent to you asking if you will continue to be a part of this roleplay. If the response is "no", or a reply is not received within a week, your characters will automatically be removed from the roleplay.

VILLAGERS:
-Your character shouldn't be automatically really, really good at Maneuver gear when they join the wall residents and begin training. That's just common sense. Don't make your characters extremely good right off the bat to get attention.

-Basically, don't make your character understand everything as it's thrown at them. They've never interacted with these oddball wall people, it wouldn't make sense that they would take everything in stride without a question.

-In terms of what they know of titans, here's the summary: They're tall. They appear dim. There's a lot of them.
They do not know what their weak point is, what they actually do to humans, or their origin. They don't exactly understand that they need to be terrified of them. For all they know, they could be beating on the walls so they could enter and give all of them flowers or something.

{{ Hey, guys. I see that there are still some people who don't totally understand what I mean with this whole village/Survey Corps thing, so I think I need to explain before everyone gets confused.
NOBODY within Hirakata knows of the three walls, and the same goes for the people in the three walls. There is no interaction whatsoever between them, and there never has been, so there's no way to have, say, a family split between the three walls and this village.
The storm is going to be the first time ANY of the villagers have an inkling of an idea as to what the Survey Corps is, or know of humanity's main territory. That's why I said in the rules that none of the OCs should have a clue as to what's going on when they enter the walls, and why none of them should be good at 3DMG without a good bit of training. None of them have ever experienced anything like this.
I'm sorry for not making thay clear, like I said in the first post this is the first roleplay I've ever made and I'm probably making a lot of mistakes ^^' I am so sorry if I sound like I'm angry, I am honestly not. I just want to make stuff clear so this roleplay can go smoothly like the way I was hoping for it to do :')

Also, as a repeat just so people understand: At this early point in the roleplay, all OCs need to be villagers. Your characters will later join the Survey Corps after the roleplay runs through.

See above. I am somewhat skinny compared to my peers, though I do have a good amount of muscle on my bones as well. I can't weigh more than 125 pounds. I am 5'4" tall.

~Personality~
I am very bold, if not brash, at times. I can stand through some harsh things that would send people running back to mommy, though I may overreact to other, less dire things. Depending on who's giving the order, I can be pretty obedient, though even I have my limits if it goes deeply against my conscience. I have impeccable loyalty, so if you're my friend, I will have your back. I hate having control over people in fear that I'll mess up and humiliate myself, so I feel more comfortable as a follower. I find life in general extremely interesting- maybe that's just because I was raised around horses and I'm growing into the family business of breeding and training, but yeah. I am an extremely adept rider, and I love horseback battles. I can be quite a sweetheart to people whom I have respect for. I find myself really shy around guys- not even just crushes in general but just guys. I can have a very fiery temper, though- depending who it's directed at- I'm not too bad at keeping it in check. I find myself as a decent strategist, though it's very obvious that there are many who are better than I. I can be very ambitious, so when I want something I have an aching desire to achieve it and a burning determination to seize it. Oh, I also love to draw and write- my most common subjects are dragons and horses.

~Family~
My father is the major horse breeder and trainer in Hirakata. My mother is very good at working leather, so she's adept at making pieces of tack. I don't have any siblings.

~Quirks~
I hate seeing blood. I'm okay with seeing my own, I guess, but if I see another person bleeding- badly- it makes me lightheaded and I can't look at them without spooking.
Oh, and... I can really suck at talking. My words are often kind of choppy and irregular, and I have a habit of stumbling over them. I've actually started fights on accident because I didn't word my phrase properly.
... I'm capable of making odd noises. Like, animal noises. I can roar like a wild beast, snarl like a mad dog, hiss like a snake about to strike... you get the picture. I can also make this whooping howl sort of noise, which I use to call Hawkeye if he happens to be particularly far away from me. Otherwise, I use three sharp clicks to summon him.

~Strengths And Weaknesses~
Strengths: I live for horseback riding. I can ride my horse bareback and stay balanced even when I urge him to use his rapid burst.I am a powerful fighter, and I expertly use my two sterling-silver cavalry swords in horseback battles. Oh- I also love hand to hand, even though I've never had official training. I guess we don't really have hand to hand training anyways, as it's not done often in Hirakata. I am very quick and precise on my feet, and I have a keen sense of what's about to happen. I am a master sneak, too. I am very quiet and- well, for lack of a better word, sneaky. I'm also good at blending it, and if that doesn't work, I am a very good runner.
Weaknesses: I am very brash. I have very little stamina overall, so while I can be extremely fast, I can't keep it up at all. I guess that makes me a bit like a cheetah. I also have a bit of a habit of overestimating myself, which ends up with me being in sticky situations. Oh, I also have an extremely low tolerance for stupidity.

~Other~
I have my own horse, whom I have named Hawkeye. He is a dark bay with dapples on his haunches, and a very clever face. He and I are as devoted to each other as a married couple. He would walk through fire for me, and I would do the same. He is very, very intelligent, and he has a burst of speed that really can't be matched by many horses. I ride him in jumping competitions, and I also love horseback battles- something that he and I are very, very good at.

Well, let's see. I do try to be respectful, though it doesn't always work out that way. I hate stupid people who don't want to do anything, being quite the "action" person. I would prefer to not plan out my attacks- after all, there's no point wasting your time trying to make sure that every attack is just right only to have it ruined when your opponent does one thing that's unexpected. If I get embarrassed, I laugh and try to throw it off. However, if someone's the reason why I got embarrassed. I will take revenge. I'm not a good person to irritate. {{I will roleplay the rest of her personality out. She's a new charrie, I haven't fully developed her >w<

My mom's a jewelry maker, she likes using jasper in a lot of her stuff- it's not that common around here, but we do have a lot of variety in what we do have. My dad goes into the mines and brings her the stuff. We live in the inner town together.

~Quirks~
If you say something stupid, I get annoyed. Like, for example, "Oh, I can take you down in a fight, easy!" You'll get a fight. And I won't be holding back, either.
I'll admit, I'm iffy around horses. One took a bite at me when I was younger, drew blood and lots of it. I mean, I guess I know that it was really just that horse, but... I'm very hyperactive around them. I don't trust them that much.

~Strengths And Weaknesses~
I'm a pretty good fighter, if I do say so myself. I love my two-handed sword, which I use often in sword battles. I can take a lot of blows before I go down. My dad's also said that I'm freakishly persistent. To the point of which, if you don't knock me out, I will keep getting back up, and I will keep hurling myself at you. Well, that's in one way.
Well... I'm not exactly willing to strategize. I don't plan very well, and I'll admit it's messed me up sometimes. I also don't know when to stop. I don't always follow orders well, even though I may intend to. Oh, yeah- I suck at using two swords. I tried to before, it didn't work well.

Hanji is very passionate and driven in pursuit of new knowledge. Hanji can be seen as very hyper and very active, often diving into projects without thought for personal safety, instead preoccupied with observing and documenting their subjects. Hanji is often excited by Titans and is always eager to experiment with them, coming off as extremely emotional regarding titans. However, Hanji still cares deeply for humanity, and takes threats to comrades very seriously.

"Personality? It is curious that you would want to talk about this, out of all things.
Next to people like Erwin, Hanji and Levi, I'm not the one who draws the most attention. Most the time everybody seems content with writing me off as the tag-along who doesn't like to talk.
And truth be told, I don't talk much. I prefer watching people over interacting with them directly. It's what I do best, and what the Survey Corps needs me to do. I'll leave talking to Erwin, fighting to Levi, and asking questions to Hanji. Not that I cannot do these things if I have to, but it is my opinion that it's better to leave a job to its specialists, if possible.
My specialty is watching people and judging them from the impressions they leave on me. I've always been good at that, and the others rely on that skill as much as I rely on theirs.

It would be wrong to say that I prefer silence. I don't mind crowded, noisy places. In fact, I find them to be the most interesting. I simply prefer not to interact, which leaves people thinking I'm uncomfortable.
However, this doesn't mean that I don't enjoy it when others talk to me or want to be around me. I do like the company of my friends and comrades, and am glad to know they don't mind that I'm not talkative.
I figure some of them even prefer it this way. I've often been told that I am a good listener.

I'm usually a calm person. I don't see the point in getting agitated, because to me, that means losing my ability to fully take in my surroundings. Getting upset messes with my perception of things; something I don't want to risk, for the sake of my comrades as well as my own. I am relied on to be vigilant, and don't take such trust lightly.
Luckily, I didn't need to train myself for this - I have always been naturally calm, always hard to get a rise out or put into panic.

I can be fierce if I must, though. I am not bad at combat at all, and if I have to, I will assume authority.
In fact, I suppose it's my normally silent demeanor that lets others know it's better to pay attention to me when I'm talking. I only interact when necessary, so this alone serves as a warning.

I may be a lover of details when I'm looking for information, but a a talker, I like to put things short. I'm a man of few words.

On the topic of trust: there's a saying that trust "needs to be earned". I disagree. Trust, to me, is nothing that anyone can earn, or is guaranteed to have. Trust is not permanent.
I don't trust. There are those who I am comfortable around because I came to the conclusion that they share my interests, and those who make me wary because they seem to work against my goals.
And those things can always change. I prefer to watch and evaluate.

Don't take me as a heartless person for this. That trust doesn't come to me naturally does not mean I don't care for people. I am willing to give my life for those on my side, and don't like avoidable sacrifices.
I try my hardest to protect my comrades, and, by extent, humanity.
And for those who need comfort, I always have an open ear and a shoulder to lean on."

~Quirks~
"As Hanji put it: "He likes to sniff people". You can learn a lot about a person by their smell. Most people think themselves above this, saying man is no longer a mere animal. But aren't we? We still smell, and I came to realize that I can use this to my advantage. My comrades like to joke about this and tell people I can smell whether they're friends or enemies. It is not as simple as that, though.
People's smell changes. Someone who is nervous, or embarrassed, or afraid, usually sweats. Sweat stinks. Combine that with my ability to read faces, and you have a reliable first impression of a person. It's not so much that I know how you smell, than knowing why.
But since I do have a fine nose, I obviously use it to my advantage in other situations as well. I can smell things before others do. Food, rain, Titans - you name it.
When I was a trainee, my peers derisively called me "dog". Not that I mind any more. Thinking about it, it's a compliment."

~Strengths And Weaknesses~
"I believe I already elaborated on my strengths and weaknesses before, but to make it short:
I am good at evaluating people and their intentions. I am not easily deceived. I rarely lose my nerves and can keep a cool head even in dangerous situations. I take note of details other people often miss.
I am also a formidable fighter and work well in a team. I am not a leader, but I can take charge if I have to.

However, I come across as unapproachable, and people tend to be intimidated by that and my appearance. I don't trust people, and therefore find it difficult to form strong emotional bonds with anyone. This means that I never manage to achieve the same kind of teamwork that you see in squads that trust each other deeply. The little extra that makes them perfect, if you like to express it like that. My silent and withdrawn attitude also makes it harder for people to trust me. I am often regarded with wariness, and it's not unusual for others to describe me as unsympathetic and antisocial.
I come across as cold and distant, and to be honest I've never been one of the emotional kind. I don't like risking my focus, after all.
There are people who I call my friends, but my definition of friend is not what most are expecting. Many times, they end up disappointed because I cannot give them what they want.

btw may I uhm, offer a complaint?

Sasha isn't going to see a potato and think, "oh, I have more important things to bother with." No. SASHA IS GOING TO EAT THAT POTATO.

I'd edit it to simply "keep everyone in-character" because tbh I find both examples to be pretty OOC. Sasha is not one-dimensional, she does have a sense for priorities. Levi CAN be emotional, just very subtly and on rare occasions.
