How would we identify that? I don't regularly look at my daemon's genitals or insides. Are you suggesting their behaviour would change? Or that the human's would?
Hello everyone! I don't actively talk here often, but this question really stood out to me.
I think by means of behavior changing due to sterilization, a common house cat or a dog would be a good example (and probably the only examples as far as my knowledge.) There's always the joke that with un-fixed animals, they'll get increasingly lazy and sad, almost 'depressed' after being fixed, especially if they are a male animal. This all stems from the fact that cats and dogs really do mellow out after the procedure. My cat, who is female, has become a lot less high-strung, and also doesn't experience her 'heat' period, which means no more annoying meowing in hopes of bringing a male cat closer.
The way I've interpreted the question is that they're asking whether your daemon experiences the mellowness, or the more active side. (Although, as is with all generalizations, these behaviors don't always apply to sterilized/unsterilized situations.) As for my answer, Sil is a platinum fox for the majority of the day, so sterilization hasn't had a lot of documented behavior in her species. But she's more on the calm side by nature, so I would say she doesn't exhibit these changes.
Thank you :) Yes, that's exactly what I meant. A regular stallion is way too upbeat for my daemon to be, but since I know that he takes the form of male animals, I figured that it must have been a gelding since they are a lot more calm.

Thanks for the compliments on my needlework! ^_^
Do you get along with your dæmon, or do you have fights?
We agreed from day one that fighting would be absolutely pointless as he's just my mental construct, so arguing with him is arguing with myself and that doesn't get me anywhere really. However we do debate situations together, he might be the devil's advocate and become brutally honest with me, though sometimes it's vice versa; I'll be upset or angry with something and he'll be offering comfort and optimistic words. So I guess it just depends, but, as noiverns phrased it, it doesn't have any effect on our relationship with each other.

That's not how daemons work. Their personality isn't dependent on the form they take, e.g. your daemon can be a hyper, happy-go-lucky, easily-excitable rhino, or a stoic, calm, unruffled ferret. Just because your daemon's personality is a little different to what behaviour you'd expect the animal to exhibit, it doesn't mean they're somehow an altered version of the animal. A lot of daemians report their daemons don't even
have genitals and/or that they imagine their insides to be Dust or light or galaxies etc. You could project your daemon as castrated if you really wanted to, but your daemon doesn't
have to be fixed just because his temperament is not in line with an unfixed animal.

That's not what I meant by "a regular stallion is way too upbeat for my daemon to be". I meant that the form would not fit my personality. I realise that the daemons personality has next to nothing to do with the form it takes. My daemon acts nothing like a binturong though we're pretty sure that that will be his settled form since it fits me almost exactly.
I never project the genitals of my daemon but for a horse to fit my personality, it would have to a gelding, not a stallion or mare. That's all I meant by it.

What form(s) does your daemon take when swimming?
Usually he will take the form of a marine iguana (though I doubt they fit my personality), though he has also taken the form of a german shepherd puppy once. I liked the marine iguana the most ^^

Chi really detests transforming so he doesn't really change form. When I swim he kind of grabs onto my shoulder and lingers at my side. Sometimes he'll "dog paddle" in front of me. Since he has small limbs and thick fur he's not really built for swimming – if he was real his tail would get so heavy with water he'd probably be pulled under. :P
Honestly he doesn't change a lot. I suppose that's because I've had him as a character and imaginary companion long before I even knew what dæmians were and while he'll/we'll hop on the dæmon bandwagon sometimes and play around with shapeshifting at the end of the day he's physically settled into his current appearance as a squirrel and it just doesn't feel right to always play around with something that had been stable for years I guess.

I get what you mean.
Sol usually sits on my shoulder as a crow, but he will change form to suit the occasion, like when I'm swimming. If I'm running, he will change to a canine-like thing, sorta wolfish but not quite a wolf. As I said before, he tried an otter while we walked past a river. He has also been a polecat, a giant stag, and I think a barn owl.
