When Frenchie was young, she lived in a lonely pasture with her dam. Frenchie, always complaining about being bored, would be instructed to count the flowers. The only flowers in the field were dandelions, so instead of counting them, she would eat them.
As she grew in size and strength, she was sold and no longer lived with her only friend, companion, and adviser.
Forgot-me-nots surrounded this new, perfectly groomed field. She wasn't alone, but she was loneliest without her dam, who always smelled like these flowers that lined the neat, white fence. So instead of spending time with other horses, she counted the flowers like she had been told to do so many years ago. After counting them, she held the number in her head, saying it over and over until she remembered it. A young colt meandered by as she was whispering her important number, and asked her what she was doing..
Frenchie only said. "Little colt, do as your mother says, and you will live a happy life."
She lived happily with the other horses, always holding that number in her mind, and leading the rest of her life with jokes, and pranks, and always, always saying that number in her head.
