@Wild.One Does the tank have a filter? And is it sitting in direct sunlight?
Does it have any live plants?

Hi guys!
Long time no see
After a minor set back I got out of the fish hobby for a while, sold my 4 foot and just kept my betta
I decided I missed my goldies too much so I'm current in the process of getting a 3 foot :D
Pretty excited right now

I have a betta fish and I was wondering ways to help slow the current of the filter he has. ^^ Or maybe a certain brand or type of filter that would be better. He has an internal filter. It came with his tank and it doesn't have any way to slow the flow of it at all. {I think it's an Aqua Culture, but I may be wrong.} The top that spouts out water pushes him back down when he tries to swim up to eat. I make sure the water is just below the lip of it but that doesn't seem to help. And the part that sucks in water tries to pull him towards it when he's at the bottom of the tank. I've tried putting a plant in front of it but it only helps just a bit. If I turn it on, he gets thrown all about and will go hide in his little pirate ship until it gets turned off. So for now, it's off since I don't want to scare him or anything. :c His tank is a ten gallon if that helps.

I used this to make a crappy baffle for mine, haha. So far it seems to work well, so no complaints!

Hello! I have a question for anyone who owns a koi pond c:

Well I have a koi pond and we're planning to put goldfish in it (Not deep enough for koi) but to avoid my little fishes from frying in the summer heat I want to put something around the pond to shield it from the summer heat, does anyone have any ideas on what to put around the edges to keep it cool? I just wanted to point out I already know about keeping the water oxygenated and such but I'm still worried about fishes dying during the summer heat, if anyone has any tips on keeping the water cool I'd love to hear it.

Sorry about not filling out the forum but I don't have the fish yet.

I don't personally own a pond but I would put an overhang or something over the pond to keep the heat off, as well as keep birds from being able to snatch them from the pond.

/proud mama screeches/

Augustus made his first bubble nest today! It's pretty small and sort of wimpy-looking, but he's guarding it with all his might, and I'm so proud of him! :'D I didn't know if he'd make any at all, so I'm glad he's settled in enough that he wants to! ♥

Thank you for the reply c:

@Mnemosyne Congrats on his first bubble nest! Ive had about 3 bettas but I also had a filter when made the water wavy so they all gave up in the end. Every so often one of then would try and it was kind of cute to watch them try so hard to make a little nest, bettas are such cuties.

Hey guys um I just came here to ask a question to anyone who has bought fish before. If this is the wrong forum to be posting on, sorry. >_<
Anyways, I want a fish that will be pretty cheap, and will only require a small tank. I don't want to have a filter either, I would much rather prefer buying those little bottles of water that you fill up your tank with. I also would like a fish that is a bit complicated, as this might sound weird but, I love pets that require a lot of care. I would love a fish who's tank I have to clean every day! A fresh water fish would be the best. Oh and hopefully one with personality, as well. c:
Also, can you link me to some tanks on Amazon or eBay (no bidding please) that are less than or equal to $50? Some places that have good information about the fish you suggest would be very helpful as well.
Oh, and a couple more questions, where should I buy my fish? Male or female? Thank you so much!
Sorry I am so clueless. I'm learning!

You don't have many options if you want a cheap fish that can live in a small tank without a filter and needs a lot of care. Pretty much all aquatic critters need at least a filter so you might want to really reconsider not having one.
Bottles of water don't replace a filter and that's going to work out way more expensive.

If you're willing to have a filter and a heater than a Betta makes an awesome pet and fits nearly everything you're looking for. They have loads of personality and don't need a massive tank. 2.5 gallons is the absolute minimum, ideally 5 gallons or more. You're going to struggle to find much else that can live in such small tanks. Depends what you mean by small.
You cannot eat love, nor buy a horse with it, nor warm your halls on a cold night
