What is an akoraz, anyway?

The akoraz, commonly called akors, are a species of winged feline. All akors have a cat-like appearance and large, feathered wings that are capable of flight, but only adults wear the special tail ring that signifies maturity. However, the most characteristic feature of the akors' appearances are the lanterns they always carry. Akoraz lanterns are always lit with the life energy that fills their body, and this life energy color will shine through their eyes, paw pads, and tongues as well. As babies do not have enough life energy to keep a lantern continuously lit, they are not given lanterns until they reach adulthood. However, akors are very shy around humans. Akoraz sightings happen only once a century or two. As they are so rare to find, there are many mysteries surrounding them. The only thing we know is that an akoraz can live for hundreds of years and, if one bonds with a companion, will forever stay loyal. If you wish to participate in the akoraz community, there are some rules you need to follow. If
you do not follow these rules, your actions may result in a ban from all akoraz threads.
Remember that all normal CS rules still apply!

1 ▏Absolutely no art theft whatsoever. This includes claiming the akoraz species and/or lines as your own, claiming others' art of akoraz as your own, tracing the official lines or another's art of akoraz as your own, removing someone's signature from their art (including my sig from the official lines), using art without permission, or copying the species lines/ideas and posting it as a new species. Art theft is not only against my rules, but is also against the official CS rules as well. I don't care whose art it is, whether it be mine or someone else's. This rule will be strictly enforced.

2 ▏Do not ask to be a part of staff or to get special privileges. When I would like a new staff member, I will post a form and/or hold a competition for one. I may also invite friends to be staff, but I will not just let everyone who asks be staff. The same goes with customs and other special privileges. Customs go to staff and people who have worked very, very hard for the adoption center, and quite possibly some of my friends. As they are super special, customs will only be awarded to deserving members of the akoraz community.

3 ▏Spamming is strictly forbidden on all akoraz threads. Spamming, like art theft, is against the CS rules as well as my own. All spamming will do is get our topic locked. You're probably spamming if you are posting random things like "hi", "trade with me", or "how are you doing today", as well as bumping the topic before it's off the front page, using excessive smileys, replying to other spam, or spamming in any other way listed in the Spam Guide. I will also consider using a lot of excessive chatspeak as spam, as we should all be trying to use the proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation as our primary school teachers taught us. (I will not call you for a few spelling mistakes, however! I just want to prevent posts like "hi can i adopt a akoraz thx brb oh gtg sry")

4 ▏No guilt-tripping, whining, or other rude behaviors. Nobody likes it when you whine, argue, or even worse, guilt-trip somebody else. Guilt-tripping is when someone loses something and says something about how they never get to win and it was their dream character or something. I don't care who you do this to, but it is extremely rude. I also don't want you whining at or arguing with anyone, whether they be staff or just a regular user.

5 ▏There will be no reselling or co-owning of akoraz. Gifting must be with permission. If akoraz will ever be for sale or need payment to be adopted, it will be in the initial adoption and not in a form of gifting. I doubt that reselling will ever be part of the akoraz adoption process, as all readoptions are free. I don't allow co-owning because it's just way too confusing and may result in too many unnecessary reports. If there are two people at the end of a competition who both deserve the akor, a runner-up will be made. Gifting must be with permission from me because I'd like to keep track of who owns what and I want to make sure that all homes for akoraz are good ones.

1 ▏You may make three total akoraz. These can be whatever gender/life stage you like, even PPS. You may not make more than 3 akors on a single guest artist period, but you may get multiple guest artist periods and, if your designs are good enough, get invited to be a full-time artist. If you only want to make one or two akors, rather than three, that's fine as well. Just PM me so I know in advance c:

2 ▏You will probably not get a custom or special privileges from being a guest artist. I know that GAs get some special privileges at other adoption centers, but unfortunately this is not the case with akoraz. If your designs are exceptionally good or you have been invited many times, you may get a custom or something, but this will not happen in most cases. Don't expect anything amazingly special if you are a GA.

3 ▏You may not make an akoraz with major edits. I don't want any akoraz to be floating around without wings, lanterns, or tail rings or with a different kind of wing, horns, or whatever. You can add little accessories or hair or something, but no crazy special edits. I'd also like it if you cleared all your designs with me before putting them up for adoption. Thanks!

Here are the characteristics of various akoraz, including rare mutations and oddities that occasionally
spring up. Be sure to read up, because this information could be very important later on!

Maturity and growing

Most akoraz are considered adults and fully mature at the age of twenty years (or four weeks at this adoption center, to save you waiting twenty years real time for your kittens to grow). They are old enough to get a mate twenty years (four weeks, again) later, and can breed another twenty years (four weeks...) later. Gestation lasts nine months at the minimum, which we will count here as yes, four weeks (do you see where this is going?). Then, it will take, at the minimum, another twenty years or four weeks (depending on how you're looking at it) for your nursery babies to grow.

However, like many CS pets, akoraz can suffer from Peter Pan Syndrome (PPS). Akoraz with PPS are stuck as babies forever, never being able to gain a tail ring, lantern, mate, or kits. Yes, they may have friends or even girlfriends/boyfriends, but they will never be able to have a true mate.

Hair

Some akoraz have hair! It's pretty uncommon, almost rare, but occasionally an akoraz does spring up with hair. This hair can be any color or style, but the owner of the akoraz cannot change it without special permission from me, Sno Leopard.

Wings

Every akoraz has a large pair of falcon wings that are capable of flight. Akoraz wings are never clipped, so if an akoraz has wings, it can fly. Occasionally, an akoraz may pop up without wings, but this is an extremely rare occurrence. Wingless akoraz have an enormous natural disadvantage compared to other, winged akoraz, since so much of their lifestyle depends on flight. Akoraz without wings can pass on the wingless gene to young, but that prospect is, again, extraordinarily rare.

Tail rings

Every adult akoraz has a tail ring, and no young or PPS akoraz has one. The tail ring is a symbol of maturity to the akoraz, and an akoraz is given a tail ring along with its lantern at the age of twenty years, the childhood-adulthood transition. There will be no adult akoraz without a tail ring and no young or PPS akoraz with one. Ever.

Lanterns

Lanterns are not given to young akoraz because their life energy, a special magical substance that fills akorazs' bodies and lights their lanterns, isn't strong enough to keep a lantern fully lit all the time. Only adults have lanterns, and they receive them with their tail rings at the age of twenty years (four weeks). An akoraz will only ever have one lantern. Lanterns usually resemble an antique European candle lantern, but they can take on many other shapes too, as long as it's some kind of lantern from around the world. Chinese lanterns, oil lamps, and even simple torches have been seen on akoraz!

Lantern flame and life energy

Life energy is a special kind of energy that fills the akorazs' bodies. Lanterns are always lit with life energy. Life energy can be multiple colors. The colors of an akorazs' lantern flame, eyes, tongue, and paw pads will tell you what color its life energy is. However, if the akoraz is blind in one or both eyes, the blind eye(s) may not be the color of the life energy.

How do I adopt?
If you want to adopt an akoraz, there are normally many to adopt! Just scroll through the thumbnails underneath the main drawing until you see one you like that has an "adopt" sign (should be right about the color palette). Then, you fill out the form according to the rules for that adoptable and post it. The artist will choose the best form to win and will give them the akoraz. You can also go to the Sanctuary, our readoption area, and see if there are any readopts up.

Will an akoraz ever be first-come-first-served?
Nope. I really doubt if there will ever be a first-come-first-served akoraz, because I like to see the effort that is put into a form that shows how much people want it. I'm not saying that first-come-first-served owners are necessarily bad owners, but it is certainly more likely than with regular competitions. I really want all akoraz to go to good, loving homes.

What do I do if I don't want my akoraz anymore?
You should post at the Sanctuary, the readoptions area, and it will go up for readoption. You can have some say in the competition if you like, but it won't be much. You can also gift your akoraz to a friend, but please clear it with me before gifting.

Can my akoraz be my fursona?
If you feel that our akoraz represents you well, then yes, it can be your fursona. However, let an akoraz staff member know first, because we like to keep track of what the akoraz are being used for. Please be aware that if you think an akoraz that is up for adoption represents you, but you don't own it, you still have to try out for and win it in order to use it as a fursona. You may not use someone else's akoraz as a fursona or character.

Can I give my akoraz a mutation?
Unfortunately, at this time there is no way for you to edit an akoraz's mutations. The only time you may add/edit an akoraz's mutations is if it is a custom that has been awarded to you. If your akoraz doesn't have a mutation, you may not add one. Of course, there are special exceptions to this rule, but don't expect one.

Is there a limit to how many akoraz I can adopt?
The current limit is three. You can always find the current limit at the top of the front page. If and when you win your third akoraz, you must either drop out of all competitions you are in or donate one of your akoraz to the Sanctuary (or otherwise give it away). This limit may be raised in the future.

Will I need to pay to adopt?
Nope! All akoraz and akoraz-related events are and will be absolutely free c:

Can my akoraz be my character's pet?
No, akoraz cannot be pets or have pets. However, they can be equal companions to any characters you may have. An individual akoraz may have only one companion, but they can have many friends.

How can I edit my akoraz?
After you win/breed an akoraz, you may add a few small accessories. Clothing, fake wings, and other major edits are not allowed, but small items such as bracelets, charms, piercings, and small toys are perfectly reasonable and in fact encouraged. It should also be known that many akoraz love hats, so be sure to consider adding a hat to your akoraz. c:

Do I get to keep art/writing about my akoraz that were included in other peoples' forms?
Unless they explicitly said you may keep it, you may not. However, if the original artist requires try-out art to be given to the winner, you should contact them about it and you may use it without any other permission.

Akoraz seem to be a lot like this other species...
Please don't say things like this. Akoraz were completely my idea and if they bear any resemblance to other species, it is completely coincidental.

What do I do if I don't want my akoraz anymore?
You should post it at the Sanctuary, where all readoptions are held. The artists will be sure to find a good, new home for the akoraz. However, once you post your akoraz at the Sanctuary, it is very unlikely that you will get it back.

When will an akoraz with a mutation be released?
I really cannot tell you. Usually every fifty or so akoraz have a mutation, but of course there will be akoraz with mutations in between these periods. Simply watch for akoraz to pop up and if you are patient enough, one will.

I don't like my akoraz's name any more! Can I change it? How?
Yes, you can always change your akoraz's name! Simply contact the archivist and they will change it for you in the archives c:

Will Akoraz Adopts ever close?
I don't know if AKoraz Adopts will ever close, but I'm not planning on it any time soon. Don't worry!
