What is an Adonera?
history
Adoneras have been around for quite some time and were even mistaken for dragons in some cultures. In early ages humans sought to capture them and use them for circus shows and keep them for pets, since they were easily taught. Adoneras, however, found these situations abusive and terrifying so they secluded themselves from the human race. For a while they hid in caves, dense forests, anywhere there were no humans. But, recently they have been stepping out of their comfort zone and there have been more sightings.

demeanor and intelligence
Adoneras are typically very social and curious creatures. They interact with each other as well as other species and form close bonds. Adoneras mate for life, given that they grow very attached to their intimate one.
As far as their intelligence goes addies are extremely intelligent, figuring out new ways to go about doing things or even just being curious. This contributes to their ability to adapt well to new environments. Also, they are able to communicate with each other and even learn new languages (i.e. talk with many other species) as well as capable of taking interests in the arts and academic topics. Of course, there may be an adonera with social anxiety or an extremely high or low intelligence, but in general, yes they are social and yes, they are intelligent.
On another note, but still important note, adoneras are able to have sexualities other than heterosexual and are able to identify as a non-binary gender. (if the artist has pre-chosen a gender for the adonera then that is the gender, but if not then it may be a non-binary gender if you so choose)

adaptability
Adoneras are extraordinarily adaptable and can live just about anywhere. Their capability to fly gives them a greater advantage in mountain ranges, but they are also swift on their feet which is useful in any other range as well. They are able to handle both hot and cold temperatures, but would prefer cold since they were built to handle the cooler temperatures in the sky. Adoneras are omnivores and and can eat nearly anything, although they typically have sensitive stomachs and should stay away from poisonous berries and older meat. Fresh food is best!

physical stature

Wings- It is clear that these are for flying, correct? Something that is not known about them though is that they also help regulate their body temperature. Underneath the wing is where adoneras can cool themselves or warm themselves. In colder weather they keep their wings close to their body to maintain body heat and create heat, but in warmer weather they open them up slightly to let the air cool them down. The underside of their wings works similar to a canine's tongue in this way.
Head- The shape of an addie's head is more aerodynamic to create less drag when they fly. Their eyes have a transparent eyelid that protects their eyes from the elements when they are flying. They also make great goggles! (adoneras sometimes find a pastime in swimming) An addie's sense of smell is simply average, they tend to go off of their excellent hearing and eyesight more.
Tongue- Adoneras have a forked tongue that picks up the chemicals in air near something and tells them if food is rotten or not. It also can be something that helps them find a mate. (this is because of the chemicals that addies give off, each has their own unique "scent" and instinct provides them the knowledge on if they are compatible or not)
Neck- Their necks were originally developed to obtain food easily (fish, fruits, nuts) but now are just something extra to hug! <3
Body- They have big cat-like bodies that are sturdy and quick. It comes in handy when they need to chase something or are being chased in an area that is not easy to fly in.
Tails- Adoneras have a long tail to balance out the weight of their long necks when both flying and walking. They also help with balance when they are climbing or resting on a small surface. Their tail also gives them more direction when flying. If an adonera decides to sleep in a tree or on a rocky cliff, or something of the sorts, they can wrap their long tail around something to ensure they don fall when rolling around in their sleep.
Claws- They hare sharp, retractable claws which make climbing, hunting, and sparing easier.
