What is a minx?

A minx is a small, shy but curious creature that has been living among us unknown for years. Scientists believe that the earliest living minx walked among the dinosaurs. Why no fossils have been discovered of these creatures is unknown. One theory is that the bones of a minx are so delicate that they disintegrate in soil after a few decades. With pollution levels rising and feral animals around, minx are becoming critically endangered. At the Minx Conservation Centre, a team of scientists have been trying to discover more about these creatures and try to save them from extinction. Here, at the centre, you can help the minx by giving them a loving home.

What is the Conservation Centre?

The Minx Conservation Centre (or the MCC) is the only centre in the world that you can see captive minx. The centre looks after injured minx and works at keeping the environment a safe place for minx to live. Visitors can come and see the minx and learn a bit about them. Since minx are becoming endangered, you can become a carer and take home a minx that can't be released back into the wild.

How can you help?

Adopting minxes and taking care of them helps the cause greatly. The Centre keeps tabs on how you care your minx and how he/she is coping in their new home. Donating and taking part in clean ups at the Centre also contributes hugely. The Centre runs on funds from the government and from you.

Scientific Name: Minxius squirriarlis

Scientists at the Centre are constantly finding out things about the Minxes so
it is hard to say if any of this information down here is accurate. It is constantly being
updated so you can know everything about the minxius!

All About Minx
Minx is small, cat like creatures. They are 50cm in height and are endangered by dogs, cats and pollution in their environment. They can live up to 5 years in the wild and 7 years in captivity. Minx have small, shovel like paws for digging, long ears, and dark coloured fur. Minxes have small, bony horns on the tops of their heads. The purpose for these is unknown, but one theory is that the Minx evolved from creatures with longer, pointer horns. Their tails have thick tufts of fur on the end of their tail can detect vibrations in the soil. Minx females have pouches on their belly that can't be seen. Minxes have one litter of babies once in their lifetime. A litter can be from 1 – 4 babies. Minx are trusting animals and curious about anything.

Habitat
Minx lives in shallow burrows near water holes. Since their burrows are close to the surface, dogs sometimes dig them out. Minxes constantly move burrows so don’t be alarmed if the minx desert your property. If you would like to encourage minx to your home, make sure your water hole has lots of shade and leaf litter for insects. Trees and small shrubs make good burrow entrances.

Diet
Because they are only small creatures, minxes eat insects and occasionally fish. If you are lucky enough to spot one in the wild, don’t feed it any processed sweet foods such as cake, muesli bars, lollies, or biscuits. This gives them stomach aches and tooth decay and can be fatal. If you want to feed them, carrots and apples are the only suitable thing for them.

Predators
Cats and dogs are the main predators for minx. Cats like to eat their babies, so if you own any cats, please be careful when letting them out. Dogs can also eat minx. If you are walking around minx territory with a dog, please keep the dog on a leash at all times. When spooked, minx will hide for days, sometimes losing their way to their burrow. They get confused and sometimes run out onto roads. Pollution in water holes and on the ground have seen an increase of diseases and deaths over the last few years.

Other
If you are lucky enough to see a minx, do not approach it as they are easily scared off. Keep dogs away from any burrows if you want to keep the minx in your area. Rubbish and pollution harm minxes so try to keep the waterhole free of rubbish. Cats and dogs like to eat minx babies so keep them away from burrows. If you would like to encourage minx to your area, plant trees around the waterhole as it provides cover for the minx. If you would like to see some minx, the Minx Conservation Centre is the one and only place you can see minx in captivity.

How to win a minx

    Intro
There are many adopts around the place and many require you to make a form to win the adopt. Sometimes, depending on the popularity of the adopt, there is a lot of competition to win a certain adopt. You can use these tips for not only minxes, but other adoption centres as well. Here are some tips and helpful links that will help you win your dream adopt!

    Requirements
It depends on the judge, but most people like good presentation, effort and extras. When you are trying out for an adopt, read all the rules and what the artist wants you to do. Breaking rules only lessens your chances of winning an adopt. Most forms will look like this:

      Code: Select all
      Username:
      Name of adopt:
      Gender:
      Personality:
      Extras:

    Names
Sometimes, adopts will have naming competitions. Choosing a good name helps you build the characters personality and mayve the way they act. 'Maria' sounds like a quiet name, while 'Charlie' sounds cheeky and mischievous. Obviously, try and make the name fit the design. Making up names and combing names/words such as the MLP 'Applejack' which is catchy and remember-able. Make sure the name is relevant to the adopt, but try not to be too boring. Naming a pink minx 'Pinkie' is not creative at all and rather childish/silly. A name such as Strawberry Strudel is more creative and gives you a general idea of her personality.

    Personality
This is one of the main parts of your form. If you have spent all your time coding your form and only spent two minutes writing 'friendly, good looking, nice' in your personality, you are not likely to win that adopt. The person giving away that adopt wants to know all about the character.

      ● Good grammar, spelling are very important when writing your personality. If the artist cannot understand you, you're not going to win anything. Text talk is also not fun to decode as it is very basic and doesn't look good. You'll loose points immediately.

      ● Content. Make the personality believable. No one is perfect, so neither is the adopt you are trying out for. If they are bright, happy and have lots of friends, it's a bit boring. If the adopt seems dark but has a passion for art and small things, that sounds more interesting. Tell the artist what their flaws are, their good points, dislikes/likes, quirks etc. If you're stuck, Google character profiles and you'll find some info to use there. Make your personality different. You can tell it from your adopt's point of view, or your point of view. You could write a journal for your adopt, or make an interview. The choices are endless.

      ● Length: Some forms will limits. That's fine, you'll just have to make sure you include everything you want to say into that limit. If there is no limits, great! Go for it! Don't make it boring though. Break it up into sections such as this post. Use different colours, fonts and characters.

      ● Make it believable: Most of the time, the adopt you are going for is an animal. So, that means they have fur and claws instead hands and skin. It's always helpful to read all about the species you are trying out for. The minx are clever creatures, but they can't mow the lawn or go shopping. They can run around the house and knock everything over or get into the fridge. If you want something believable, get familiar with the adopt you are trying to win.

    Visual Presentation
If your form looks great, you are already have an advantage. Some people on CS have BBCoding shops that might help you if you ask them nicely. Yes, it is hard to get used to, but sometimes a simple form is the best form.

DO NOT: Make your form in bright colours. Judges can't read it and it hurts your eyes.
Don't copy other people's ideas with coding/layout. It doesn't give you a better opportunity to win.
Do not use flashy gifs. Some judges hate them, and it's not that creative

DO: Use nice, natural colours for your writing. Your headings can be colourful and exciting. It's even cooler if you can use the same colours your adopt has. You can ask the judge to supply hex codes for you to use in your form.
      Make your form simple
Do ask artists to make you art for your form
      Do

    Extras
Extras are sometimes what are the winners. If a judge asks for extras, go wild. Usually there are no limits. Extras include stories, poems, songs and art. You don't have to be the best artist, as long as you have a go. Lots of artists do commissions for try-outs. Make sure to give them lots of time to complete their art.

    Notes
Always credit any art/work that you don't own. Stealing is not acceptable on CS.
      Always use original ideas.
