The Shadow Plague

This story starts as two separate stories with two separate characters that eventually intercept. There will be two parts, the first when the characters are separate, the second when they're together. If you have any ideas, just PM me. I am always open to suggestions!

Here's a little backstory, just to explain things:

Calliope-
I'm a fairy. An honest to goodness fairy. But fairies aren't exactly what humans think we are. Yes, we have butterfly wings. Yes, we have pointy ears. But we're not tiny. We're human sized. And we don't dance in mushroom circles or anything; I actually hate mushrooms. We also don't have magic or anything, though we can make our wings disappear so we seem like regular humans. We can just fly. And most recently, fight. Ever since the shadow plague, which is turning people and animals evil, we fairies have been training to protect ourselves, through martial arts and regular weapons training.

Max-
Though my father, the greatest warlock of all time, started the shadow plague, I don't agree with it. Forcing all the people and animals to be your personal army? I don't think so. But my father expects me to, because I'm a warlock like he is. I've been studying, and I think I've found a way to reverse the plague, I'm just missing some ingredients...

Calliope:
Age: 16
Appearance: Pale skin, silver eyes, maroon hair. 5'7, with purple and black wings.
Personality: smart, understanding, kind to friends, fierce

Max:
Age: 16
Appearance: tan skin, brown eyes, black hair. 6'0, muscular, carries warlock's staff.
Personality: wary, untrusting and suspicious at first, sweet to people he likes, nice to animals, strong

This is the beginning of the actual story:

Calliope-
I roll over in bed and look at my alarm clock. 7:43. Wonderful, I'm late. I jump up and conceal my wings. Pulling on a pair of jeans, a black and white t-shirt and my green hoodie, I jog into the kitchen. "Morning sweetie," my dad says as I twist my maroon hair into a knot. My mother stands at the stove frying bacon and making toast.

Max-
I wake up to a loud bang, and thick green smoke squeezing under my door. "Da-ad," I call. "What're you doing now?" Coughing, I get out of bed and change. I walk into our wide hallway, with is filled with green smoke. I walk into my father's potions room and lean against the door. "You forgot to close the door again." I accuse. "Yes, yes," he says absently. "Go away now." I stomp off.

Calliope-
I sit down at the kitchen table,and my mom puts a plate with bacon and toast in front of me,baloney with a glass of orange juice. "Thanks," I say, and begin to eat. My little brother Jake stands at the window, waiting for the bus to come. He loves school, because he's a huge sports maniac, and can do all that stuff at school.

Max-
I stomp into the huge dining room, and slide into my chair at the waxed wood dining table. Miretta, the cook, brings in a plate of pancakes and eggs for me, bows slightly with a smile, and retreats into the kitchen to prepare my father's breakfast. I finish my food, and as I hear my father's foot steps on the stairs, I jump up, grab my back pack from the hall, and run outside to wait for the bus.

Calliope-
"Finally!" Jake says. He grabs his backpack, sweatshirt, and football and heads towards the door. "Ah, ah, ah," my mom says. "Wait for your sister." I finish my bacon and say "Coming, Jake!" I grab my backpack and follow him out the door.

Max-
The bus pulls up in front of my house, and I get on. My best friend Alex waves me over from a seat in the back. I sit down next to him, swinging my bag off my shoulder as I do, and putting it in my lap. "Hey," I say to him.

Calliope-
On the bus, I slide into an empty seat to wait for my friend Dessa to get on. At her house, she mounts the bus, scans the vehicle for me, then waves once she catches sight of me. I wave her over and she sits next to me.

Max-
"Hi," Alex replies. "How's your dad?" "Eh," Max replies. "Same as ever. He made a bunch of smoke come into my room again." Alex knows me and my dad are wizards; he's one himself. He nods. "Did you do the math homework?"

Calliope-
When we get to school, I file off the bus in front of Dessa. We walk to our first class, Literacy, together, Dessa's blue braid swinging behind her. We get to class, and I pull open the door and walk in. We are one of the first people here, the only other people here are Drake, another fairy, Lisa, a regular human, Aria, a witch, and David, another human.

Max-
"Yeah," I say. "Why?" "I didn't do it," Alex replies. "Well," I say. "You don't want mine, it's all wrong." I really didn't do any work, just wrote down random numbers while looking over my plague cure recipe without my father finding out.

Calliope-
We walk towards our seats. Our teacher, Ms. Ivikin, sits at her computer typing something. She looks up, blond hair falling over her shoulders, as we take our seats, then nods and returns to her typing. I pull out my notebook and pens as the rest of the class slowly trickles in. I jump as the bell rings.

Max-
Alex laughs; he knows how I do my home work. He whips out his home work and randomly writes in some numbers, too. "200..43....5...17..67,900.." he says, while I laugh.

Calliope-
Principal Hawkins' voice comes over the PA. "Good morning, students! I happily welcome you to another day at West City High School and Middle School. Just a few quick announcements, then you will be off on that great adventure- education!" I look at Dessa and mime a heroic pose. "Education!" I mouth.

Max-
We get to school, and are immediately whisked off by our headmistress, Mrs. Cleevey. As well as Headmistress, she also teaches history, which is our first class. After we're all seated, she fixes us with a look, says "Boys, DONT mess around," and leaves the class room for announcements.
