This is Styx, and he is living breathing proof dinosaurs are far from gone. He resembles what archeologists would call a Stygimoloch, which translates to "demon from the river Styx". Stygi's lived 65 to 70 million years ago in the Late Cretaceous period. Styx here is very similar to his Stygimoloch cousins; but he thrives in the present. Archeologists digging in the secluded areas of Montana, USA, were surprised to find what looked to be a nest of Stygimoloch completely intact and above ground. They took the eggs with them and after hatching, the humans knew they had found a miracle. With a few key evolutionary adaptions, a new species emerged and was dubbed Novo Daemon, or "the demon revived". The species is extremely elusive and wary to strangers, and few aside from the three first eggs hatched have ever been captured. None have been tamed.

Stygimoloch's were similar in size to humans, weighing anywhere from 170 to 200 pounds. This is also true for Daemon's. Though Daemon's have been recorded even heavier than that, presumably able to put on more weight since they have few natural predators. One of Novo Daemon's most signature features are the brightly colored feathers that cover parts of their bodies. Females have significantly less feathers, commonly only seen with plumes along the back of their front legs and back legs up to the beginning of their tail. Males also have plumes on their shoulders and under their chests and tails. Generally, males also have larger horns and more spikes on their face/tail. The hard "cap" on their heads is dense bone material, used for self defense and to earn mating rights. A similar strong material plates their hind legs and feet, also used for defense. They have three toes on both their hind and forefeet, and males also have a curved dew claw on their hind legs. Daemon's come in a wide variety of colors. Females are always natural in color, whereas males sometimes have brighter colors. Patterns range from spots to stripes and everything in between.

The western region of Montana, USA, is so far the only place Novo Daemon's have been found. The plains leading into mountains provide a diverse environment for the species. Dense forests are what has kept Daemon's from human eyes for so long. It's most common to find more females in the higher altitudes, often raising young in the protection of the many caves and crevices in the mountainside. Young bachelors favor the open plains where they can strut their stuff. Daemon's are herbivores and plant-life is plentiful where they live.

Not much is known about Daemon lifestyle. From what scientists have found, females often life in small harems while bachelors are typically loners. The main purpose for Daemon's hard heads and horns are to attract mates. The tougher they look and the more bachelors they can fight and win; the better they look to the ladies. Their armored and clawed hind legs are also used in brawls for mates. They don't always mate for life (more often they mate once and never see each other again), but on some occasions it has been reported that a male favors a female and they remain together until death. Rearing the offspring is left primarily to the females. The average amount of hatchling's per cycle is 2.
