Willowtail stared at Berrypaw in shock, her memory shot back to the conversation she had heard on her way to catching the mice. The two words she had caught, flood and fire bounced around in her head. A sudden pang of fear and urgency hit her, the prophecy was clearly warning them about a flood, and then a fire, a major fire which apparently they couldn't survive without this new hope which they had yo accept. Lilystar had to know about this! She looked at Berrypaw in fear, "Does Lilystar know about this?" Berrypaw crawled under Rosepetals leg and nodded shyly, as if all of his excitement had drained out of his paws, "Daisyleaf has just gone to tell her. I'm in charge!" Announced Berrypaw as he slowly regained his confidence.
Willowtail finished of her mouse and smiled at Berrypaw, "Have you any jobs to do?" Asked Willowtail trying to encourage the young Apprentice to talk about and thrive his medicine cat, it would make him better at it when Daisyleaf retired or was took by starclan. Berrypaw shook his head, still quite shy, "Nope I had some herbs to mash but I've already done that, the only real job I have us to treat any warrior that walks through my den." Rosepetal looked down at her son, "Don't you mean Daisyleaf's den?" She reminded her kit, "Yes, but it will be mine one day, won't it mother?" Rosepetals softened her face and groomed the young apprentice, "If that is what starclan wants from you then yes." Berrypaw grinned brightly at his mother, before stopping and looking in the complete opposite direction, ears twitching. Then the two warriors also heard the noise, a distressed shout from the camp entrance.
"Berrypaw, Daisyleaf! Come quick Blazepaw has been attacked by a wind clan cat!" Berrypaw quickly jumped to his feet as the words became clear, Willowtail looked through the camp to see where the yell had come from, it was Fernpaw, standing at the clan entrance her chest heaving from having to run from Windclan borders to Lunaclan entrance. Berrypaw dashed inside the medicine cat den and raced out with a mouthful of cobwebs and horsetail, "Willowtail can you get Daisyleaf for me?" Willowtail nodded and raced to Lilystar's den.
Daisyleaf was just padding out of the leaders den the end of her tail was flicking slightly and Willowtail could only guess why, "Daisyleaf, you must come quick Blazepaw has been attacked by a Windclan cat." Daislyleafs pelt tensioned, "Where is he?" She asked tension clear to hear in her voice, "This way." Called Willowtail as she ran out of camp and began to follow the scents of Berrypaw and Fernpaw, Daisyleaf at her heals. The pair finally caught up with the two apprentices, as they approached Blazepaw, Thornheart and Shadowtail. They were all crowding over Blazepaw as Berrypaw administered the cobwebs to stop the deep scratch marks in his shoulders from bleeding.
Daisyleaf bounded up to help Berrypaw, and they nothing pressed on cobwebs and added herbs to help him, Willowtail didn't quite know the names of all the herbs neither what they were used for but what she did know was the scent of Windclan and blood lingered in the air around them, "What happened?" She asked to try and figure out how Blazepaw had been injured. Shadowtail spoke, "We were just patrolling our border and a small patrol of Windclan cats decided to try and take our territory. They pounced on Blazepaw before we even knew they were there. We could smell them but we couldn't find the exact position, they were closer than we had expected. We managed to chase them off but Blazepaw got injured pretty badly." Explained the brown she-cat.
Berrypaw turned and gave a sigh of relief at the patrol, "Blazepaw should be fine now, did anyone else get injured?" He asked, his eyes darting from cat to cat. They all shook there heads, "No just minor scratches and bruises." Answered Shadowtail. Willowtail had noticed that Thornheart hadn't spoken much but decided not to mention it, the old warrior could get annoyed with the most simplest of things and with the recent Windclan attack the warriors might be already quite angry. The warrior nodded at the patrol and stood up to reveal his tail flicking with anger, "Let's head back to camp, if we're all able to walk" The warrior stared down at Blazepaw and the apprentice quickly struggled to his feet and nodded at Thornheart to confirm that he was able to walk back to camp.
The patrol walked back to camp slowly, pausing whenever Blazepaw asked them to although it seemed to bug Thornheart whenever they did so, the warrior seemed to be in an awful hurry for some reason. As they padded through the camp entrance the patrol was greeted by Rosepetal, who bounded up to Berrypaw and smiled brightly, "You did good, Blazepaw will heal quickly now, right Daisyleaf?" She asked as she looked up to the apprentices mentor, and the medicine cage nodded warmly, "you did very good Berrypaw, Blazepaw should be fine by morning as long as he gets some rest." She said and flicked her rail towards the apprentice den, to indicate to Blazepaw to rest for a while, "Come to my den in the morning then you can get back to training." Blazepaw nodded and dropped his head and walked towards the apprentice den.
Willowtail padded towards the warrior den, followed by Rosepetal, a clump of bracken in her friends mouth, she dropped the bedding next to her nest and moulded it in to her nest. Willowtail had noticed her nest was rotting but hadn't had time to get any new bedding yet, she decided to fetch some more later on, "Your son is a talented apprentice, both your sons are, I saw Crowpaw at noon today, I think he's on night patrol with Stormdrop, Foxfur and Fireblaze," Rosepetal nodded and grinned at Willowtail, "Yes I am proud of both of my sons, me and Darkclaw, actually I haven't seen him since this morning, have you?" Willowtail shook her head, slightly worried but guessed he must just be hunting, "No i haven't seen him all day." Rosepetal nodded she didn't seemed to be worried, if anything she seemed to be drifting of into a day dream, "maybe" she said simply. Willowtail stood up un comfortably, "I'm going to go fetch some more bedding"
She padded out of the warriors den and bounded through some trees, and looked for some ferns, moss or bracken, any would do. She found a few moss scraps at a fallen tree trunk. She pulled them off and headed back to camp, moss dang eking from her jaws. As she did so she met up with Darkclaw a rabbit and a pigeon hung from his jaws, her spirits rushed, "Darkclaw Rosepetal has been looking for you, she's in the warriors den." She said her voice slightly muffled through the moss that she was carrying. Darkclaw nodded and Willowtail knew if he tried to speak he would drop all the fresh kill in his mouth. Darkclaw ran to the fresh kill pile and Willowtail padded into the warriors den. Rosepetal was sleeping when she walked in so she silently pressed the moss into her nest and curled up inside of it and she could feel Rosepetals thick brown fur against hers as she drifted off into a light sleep.
