╚════════════════════════╝ Isobel played with her long, curly red hair, sending little currents of flame down to the ends and smiling as she felt the warmth against her fingers. Of course, she had been doing it for a while, and she was feeling a slight pull on her strength, despite the fact that she felt power coursing up her arm from where the fire met her hand. Sighing, she let her hair fall, and started bouncing sparks off the cement of the sidewalk. She was hidden away in an alley, so of course nobody who had any sort of business would find her. This was how she spent her free time; creating fires and striving to build endurance and push her strength further. There had only been a slight pull on her energy so far, and she'd made little sparks and flames all day. Izzie could handle pretty much anything she ever had to do with her power, which was, of course, mostly just entertaining herself.
However, she'd lit herself up before, and while it had been so dangerous and thrilling and powerful- she felt like she could conquer anything -it was a major drain, and it could only be done while she was tucked away, in some safe place where the stupid mundane people wouldn't scream and assume she was dying. Izzie had never been a people person. It could partially be blamed on her hostile personality- which could be blamed on her crap childhood -but it was mostly because she scared people with her flames. People loved heat, she'd learned, but nobody ever wanted to take the chance to get too close. I'm just a pretty thing for them to gawk at, she thought bitterly.
A light suddenly flooded the alley just as her next spark hit the cement, and she leaped to her feet, assuming she'd blown something up and had to run yet again to avoid the hard questions. However, it wasn't even remotely as warm or powerful a blaze as Izzie would have made had she accidentally blown something up. In fact, it was quite distant and cold. Scowling, she looked up toward the center of the dome, where- sure enough -there was the source of the bluish-white light that was flooding the street. Brushing off her shorts, Izzie made her way toward the light. After all, if it was light, it couldn't be that bad, however annoyingly lacking in heat it was. She was a short distance away from it, and when she got there, she saw that several others had already shown up.
Isobel tensed. What the heck? This light wasn't natural, and the people who had also come to check it out mostly stuck to the shadows, except for one girl who had approached it. She seemed slightly startled, as if she'd never seen a light before. Izzie was glad she'd managed to fireproof a hoodie as she drew its black hood up over her hair. Sometimes, she created fire absent-mindedly to mimic her emotions. People had no idea how hard it was for her to have to make things that would deflect her power; it wasn't natural, and she hated doing it. It was a long and hard process to fireproof anything, and she'd burned through many articles of clothing, blankets, and pillows, but she'd finally managed to figure out how to make things mostly resilient against her power. She had to, if she was going to be a normal person. In fact, she kept everything she owned in one book bag, which she usually kept on her back at all times. Since pretty much every building was susceptible to the flames she could produce- she couldn't even imagine trying to fireproof an entire house -she was mostly nomadic, only occasionally returning to the abandoned underground bomb shelter her father had left her in.
This allowed her to observe phenomenons like this peculiar beacon, which for the life of her Izzie couldn't understand. Why the heck would someone shine some stupid giant light from the center of the dome? To prove some petty point? She pressed her lips together. Whatever it was, she hoped it would be interesting. Crossing her arms over her chest, Isobel waited for something to happen.

Being alone wasn't something Erasmus necessarily enjoyed. It was just something he endured. He had no family here. It was just himself and his own thoughts. The only thing he had ever spoken to, aside from himself, were the occasional rodents that could be seen squirming around the muck and grime of the old city. Mice, rats, raccoons, and the occasional squirrel. Most the animals didn't pay any mind to Erasmus, and he could care less if they were actually listening or not. It just helped to talk sometimes. Other times, not so much. Sometimes it just made him feel like he was slowly spiraling down into madness. Not good.
Erasmus glanced over the edge of the roof he was standing on, hands shoved deeply into the pockets of his ripped up jeans. His only good pair of jeans left, really. The other clothes he had either grown out of or were ripped too badly to actually be considered pants anymore. And Erasmus wasn't the kind of guy to go flaunting features he didn't have. Toned legs were such things. The view was nice enough; for overlooking a practically abandoned city. He hadn't met anyone else in this godforsaken place. And he couldn't figure out of this was some kind of punishment for something he'd done earlier in his childhood? But that didn't make much sense, since he doesn't remember anything outside of the city. It's always been the city. Purgatory, maybe? Erasmus thought, sitting on roof, kicking his legs out over the edge. Purgatory seemed like his best option. Neither living nor dead; maybe he reincarnated here and some Being was testing his strength. Erasmus wasn't even sure what deity or Godlike figure existed anymore - if there was one. He had lost his faith awhile ago. Well, not that he necessarily had any. He just didn't like the idea of someone forcibly keeping him here; someone with that much power.
I have powers. Erasmus thought, amused at himself. He had been working on his powers recently, not having anything better to do. Which consisted of him teleporting to different places; such as the roof he was now sitting on. He found that the closer the distance he teleported, the less energy and stamina it took from him. The farther away he got, the more sick he felt. So far the max distance he could teleport was a mile; and that had been enough to make him double over, out of breath, and with a headache. I just don't know how to make myself strong- his thoughts were cut short when a bright light caught his eye.
the hell? He stood to his feet, peering over in the distance. Maybe a quarter mile or so away, tucked behind some building, was a ray of light. A signal? A beacon? Whatever it was, it made butterflies twirl in his stomach. Anxiety, nervousness, and a sense that he should follow it.
He teleported as close as he could get to it, eyes widening when he spotted someone standing next to it. a girl? She was sticking her hand into the beacon, colors dancing out from around her hand. "Who are you? What is this?" He found himself asking, his voice sounding strange now that it was actually directed towards another living being.

※Sandy ※ "ShadowMan"※
I’m increasingly aware I’ve been painting things in gray,
I’m increasingly alarmed by the pain,
I’m increasingly alive to every cloud up in the sky,
I’m increasingly afraid it’s going to rain.He might have been lonely had he ever experienced anything but loneliness. Fortunately for Sandy, he had nothing to compare his current situation to. It had always just been this way. Just Sandy. Sandy and his shadows. For as long as he could remember he'd been cloaked in darkness. He made friends with his shadows, and he spoke to them. Eventually they started answering him; he was never completely sure that it was actually the shadows talking, but when you hear whispers when you're all by yourself who else could be talking to you other than your shadow? He wasn't sure how old he was when they started calling him the ShadowMan. He wasn't entirely convinced they knew his real name, but how was he supposed to argue?
Sandy resided in a building that might have once been an office. It was barren and crumbling, as he had known most of the structures in this urban decay to be, but it had several floors and the comfortable cool of darkness he found so comforting. The lack of large windows and electricity often had Sandy sitting on the floor in the dark, which he was more than okay with. Aside from his shadows, he had books to keep him company. Occasionally he'd find them around the abandoned buildings, but sometimes they were left with his food. He'd started a nice little collection, stacking them haphazardly in pillars on the floor.
He contemplated a lot. What else was there to do? Sometimes sleep would never come simply because his thoughts occupied too much space and too much time. It had been this way the past couple of days. He was sprawled on the floor when something unusual caught his eye. There was a glimmer of light outside. It twinkled through the window, throwing the shadow of the pane onto the floor near Sandy. He swept his feet underneath him, going from lying down to a crouch in one swift movement. He looked more creature than human as his fingertips brushed from the pale light on the floor to the shadow cross. Standing up quickly, he grabbed a black button-up shirt that had been lazily discarded over a stack of books. Tarnished silver dogtags jingled around his neck. There were two of them: one was imprinted with 'Sandy Alerteyes', while the other said simply 'Male'. He'd had them since he was little, probably since he was a baby, he figured. It was the only thing that tied him to a life outside of all this and he clung to that as if it were necessary for his survival.
The shirt that he slipped his arms into was missing several buttons, but he he buttoned it as well as he could. There were two missing at the top, revealing a bit of his chest and the chains of his dogtags, one missing in the middle, and two at the bottom. One final item, Sandy retrieved a butterfly knife hidden under a loose tile and slipped it into his one good pocket, the one without a hole.
He trotted down the stairs and out the front door, watching as he had apparently spooked an elk, for the silhouette of a stag was fleeing until it disappeared from sight completely. Now that he was outside he could see that the light that invaded his window seemed to be coming from the center of the city. And for some reason, Sandy felt... drawn to it. He figured it was morbid curiousity, and maybe even irony? The ShadowMan being drawn in by a blinding beam of light. He walked as far away from the light as he could as he sauntered towards the middle of the city. The shadow that was thrown onto the walls and concrete was not his own, but rather a shadow that had hung around Sandy since he recalled noticing that darkness was drawn to him and vice versa. The shadow looked human enough. It was tall and skinny with long legs and disproportionately long arms. Its fingers were extraordinarily long as well, almost appearing to drag on the ground. Sandy called this one the Skinless Man. Its gait was far bigger than Sandy's, but it seemed slow since it was keeping the same pace.
The closer Sandy came to the center of the city the harder it was becoming to stay out of the light, until he finally gave up and stepped into the beam. As his body was bathed in the silver-blue light, he held back a hiss. The Skinless Man vanished, as did all of his shadows. He did not like this at all. Rather than hissing, he looked bewildered for a split second. He proceeded to squeeze his eyes shut and grab his head, walking forward until the beam thinned a little bit and he was able to step out of it. The Skinless Man returned and Sandy felt normal again.
His comfort lasted seconds, just until he looked up to see several other people gathering. Wait. Was that right? There were other people here? Why had he never seen them before? His eyes were wide and darkness started manifesting around his feet, slowly crawling up his legs and starting to envelope his body. He jumped when someone started speaking, and the darkness creeping up his body melted, seeming to spill down onto the concrete.
"Do you...live here?" He asked no one in particular, voice reasonably quiet.

┏XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX┓xxxxxxxxpicture of the scenexxxxxxxxxxxxxXXxxxxxpardon the brother bear-nessxxxxit was the closest thing i could find┗XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX┛ Minuet's eyes widened when she hit the cold ground, shivering. The light was so... Unreal.
What if the light wasn't actually there? What if she was going crazy? Honestly, she could be
going crazy. I mean, why else was she locked up in a city with a dome over head and big
fences all around? Maybe none of it was real.
But all of her thoughts were washed away when she heard someone speak. Her stomach all
but dropped her her knees and a pit in replaced it. 'Who are you? What is this?' The voice
asked. Minuet had no response at first, she just sat there with wide eyes. Then, she heard
another voice, more demanding, saying 'Do you live here?' Minuet was taken aback. Real
life voices... Other than hers... Directed to her. Yup, she was definitely going crazy. So,
Minuet had no choice but to answer them, because there was that 2% chance that she wasn't
crazy. She turned to the both of them, still on the ground, hugging her knees to her chest.
She kept her bloody hand up a bit, so she didn't smudge blood on anything.
Uh... I don't know why we're here... I live here, though. She peeped, her voice wavering like
a candle. When she saw the bigger boy of the two, with paint on his face, she almost let
out a small whimper. Why? There was darkness cloaking him. She couldn't help but mimic
the power, letting the darkness cloak her so she would like she was blending into the dark
ground.

"I'm the invisible man. Incredible how you can see right through me."
eighteen years old | invisibility | tagged - everyone at the beacon, no one specifically
________________________________________________________________________________
Frank glanced around nervously, his dark eyes hidden behind his thick spectacles. In all actuality, he didn't need glasses. He had almost-perfect eyesight, but he wanted to have perfect vision, so he got a pair, one that would take up half of his face and let him hide behind the accessory. It was times like this that he had some consolation that something was resting on the bridge of his nose. There were other people around now. He had been the first to arrive at the beacon, attracted by the bright but not blinding light. He took a step back hesitantly. He hadn't expected to see so many people. He had hardly seen any people at all in his whole life, and now there was a group of teenagers, just like him. Had they been trapped their whole lives as well? Had they been abandoned, thrown aside because they were different?
There was darkness in the corner of his eyes, which was queer because the light from the beacon was so bright. The boy was surrounded by shadows, by darkness. And then there was another girl, who followed suit. Were they siblings, then? They looked to lost and unfamiliar to be. They had powers, though. Strange and unnatural, just like his. The others had asked questions. So much uncertainty, so many queries. He answered the questions in his mind. My name is Frank Castle. Yes, I do live here, in a house, locked up for years of my life. I've never seen such a light and I have no clue what's going on.
Perhaps he should go. His rational mind was telling him to go, and he nearly turned and walked away. But another part of his brain told him to stay, controlled his body and prevented him from moving. The rational part asked why. The other part had no answer. And so it was left like so, him standing there, not really having full control over the muscles in his body. He could feel the gazes of all the others, looking around, searching for answers to questions, be it voiced or not. He thought about disappearing. That was his very first thought, in fact. But he didn't. He had already been seen. Someone who glanced his way, blinked and saw him gone would be suspicious. He'd bring to much attention to himself. Sometimes the best way to be invisible is to be seen.

Caitlyn soon heard several other.. beings come out and examine the beacon? She watched each one of them closely, before she came to a girl- covered in darkness. She stumbled back, not sure of what to make of the scene. Sure, what Caitlyn could do was weird, but that? That just wasn't normal for a teen. The girl stared at the beacon, just trying to will some information out of it. Sadly, that wasn't her superpower, if you will. Cait took a deep breath, thinking this was all a dream. But.. it wasn't. What.. is going on? Cait spoke, not to anyone in particular. Her voice came out weaker than it was supposed to sound, but when you're frightened, that's the results. Something was wrong. Why was she here, with.. them?
Caitlyn didn't know what to say or do. It was as if she were frozen, but that wasn't the case. She looked down at herself, only hoping she had brought her sling bag. Nope. Her belongings were in that bag, and she didn't have it. Cait cursed under her breath, clenching her fists for being so foolish. Now she was powerless, or so she thought. Caitlyn could tell that these other teens weren't normal, especially after what she had just witnessed. But what was Cait supposed to do with that info? Go to the FBI and report aliens? No, that was bizarre and well, stupid.

Erasmus was having an incredibly difficult time wrapping his head around what was going on. Now there were two people. Two of them! And while two might seem like a small number to anyone else, in this scenario, it was an incredibly large number for Erasmus. Two people that had been living in the same freakin' place he'd been. When the entire time, he thought he was alone. It made him angry. Almost to the point of punching one of them square in the face. Why had they been hiding the whole time? Surely they had felt the same insanity that Erasmus felt, not talking to anyone real. With the ability to actually comprehend the words coming from his mouth. But now there were suddenly people? Did they just get here?? No, that couldn't of been right. Because the scared-looking girl with red hair had said she lived here. And oh, lovely, another one, with blonde hair, showed up that pretty much asked the same question as earlier.
If there's a God. He hates me. Erasmus thought bitterly, running a hand through his blue and brown hair. He fiddeled with his lip ring, his face growing increasingly more distraught. And who the hell's this guy? Erasmus's eyes swiveled over to the guy cloaked in shadow. If he's got powers then surely -- but the girl was already cloaking herself in shadow. two shadow benders? lovely. And what can I do? Teleport; what joy. And I used to think I was cool. He turned his arm over, pinching the soft inner skin of his arm. He winced. Welp, I'm not dreaming. Can't tell if that's good or bad yet.
"So...great," Erasmus said out loud, tossing his hands in the air. "We've only managed to establish that we've all lived in this city together for God knows how long and that it's obvious none of us have probably ever made contact with human life. Now, on more important terms, I'd like to know what the hell this...thing is." He said, teleporting closer to the beacon, hands pointing towards it -- as if to prove a point. "And why the hell you're hand is red, are you bleeding? Do you need help?" He had teleported closer to the girl with red hair and shadows wrapping around her, but not close enough to (hopefully) scare her. True concern had entered his voice. Even if these people had been trapped like himself, that was no reason to leave a lady bleeding in pain...right? This would be the 'human' thing to do...at least, he hoped.

Caitlyn turned around to see a boy teleporting. Wait.. Cait stepped back, watching him care for a girl on the ground. Letting curiosity run wild, she bent down with the two and examined the blood. I may be able to stop it, but you'd have to give me a few minutes to gather what I need. Caitlyn said, still examining the wound. She had seen many things like this, and this was easy. She stood back up and looked around, sensing fresh herbs nearby. Hold on.. I will be right back. Cait started a slow jog to a nearby maple tree and pulled off a few leaves and sniffed them. Perfect for what she needed to do. Caitlyn ran back, taking off her jacket and setting the leaves down on it.
Caitlyn began her work. She began smushing the leaves, only leaving the sticky paste. She looked around for some source of water, but saw none. she cursed under her breath again, trying to figure out what she could use. the girl stood up, glancing around for a stream of some sort. caitlyn had to get home and grab that bag of hers. taking off, caitlyn sprinted into her house, trying her best to be quiet. she grabbed the bag and dashed back to the girl, then poured the water from the water bottle onto the sticky paste. she divided it into two seperate piles.. one for eating, and one for rubbing. she can choose which one to eat.. caitlyn murmured, not lifting her head.

blue light reflecting in her big, scared eyes. For once, she wanted to cry. She wanted this to
be over. She didn't know why they were here, and why strangers were coming. The redhead
watched the boy teleport to her, and her eyes grew big with fear. Minuet looked over to
another person, a girl, who ran off to get something. When she returned, Minuet felt the
girl put paste on her hand. Out of fear, Minuet teleported over, behind the boy who spoke
to her, lowering herself in fear. And... Why did she just teleport? Maybe the girl was trying
to heal her? Maybe she was trying to poison me. Minuet thought, looking around. There
were others, as well, looking at them. So far, Minuet had made the worst first impression.
She had cloaked herself with shadows, and teleported. I'm nothing but a power thief. She
told herself, looking up at the girl who tried to heal her. What did you put on my hand?
She asked, her voice wavering again.
