What the heckie is a Felidrac?

Felidracs, often shortened to 'dracs', are feline creatures that, somehow, have strains of dragon buried deep in their ancestry. They tend to be fairly moody, but this trait is less prominent in domestic dracs. A standard felidrac is just a little bigger than a Maine Coon. What sets them apart from most felines are a few unique features. Firstly, each drac sports horns. Secondly, the scleras (or white parts) of their eyes are always black. Thirdly, this perhaps the most interesting feature of the breed, very high ranking felidracs can breathe weak flames. Last but not least, baby dracs, or fellings, are born from leathery eggs.

Horns

Every felidrac sports a small set of horns, no exception. Fellings are hatched with small bumps where their horns will come in, and by the time that they can hunt or scavenge for their own food, the nubby horns are visible above their fur.

There are three types of drac horns that we are aware of right now, but more may be discovered in time. Tht types are standard, which features two small horns which point upwards from the forehead, ram, which curl around the drac's head and end in sharper points, and unicorn, which features one single horn that protrudes from the middle of the forehead. Horns can be broken by battle, predators, or other sources of intense impact, but this is rare and causes immense pain to the felidrac.

Tails

Dracs can be born with two tail lengths: short, which is by far more common, and long, which is fairly rare. Short tails occur more in the species because the typical long tail of a feline proved to get in the way while hunting.

Diet

A felidrac's diet is vast. They are omnivores with a preference for meat. They eat the meat of whatever they can catch, fish, large insects, fruit and nuts, stolen eggs, honey, and in times of desperation, ash. Domesticated dracs should be fed a steady diet of wet food (they are proud beasts and will almost certainly turn their noses up at dry pellets) with some treats, like fruit or honey, thrown in from time to time.

Breeding

One of the felidrac's most unique features is how fellings are made. Due to a very specialized reproductive system, the details of which won't be included here, any two adult dracs are able to mate, regardless of their sex. After a very short pregnancy, a clutch of large, leathery eggs, usually numbering between two and four, are laid. One more month later, the fellings inside hatch, with all their senses working and only lacking teeth and horns.

• as of right now, you may own up to five free felidracs; and an unlimited number of paid dracs that I sell on dA. (There are exceptions to this rule. I may grant an excellent staff member or close friend an extra drac if they've hit their limit.)
• official artists may make themselves two customs. Mods and GAs may each have one.
• arguing against a warning or a strike will earn you another strike.
