~*Amber*~ wrote:Name: CrimsonFox
Gender: Male
Rank: Deputy
Personality: He kind be kind of quiet and secretive at points yet of course like most clan cats loyal. He is extremely overprotective to his apprentices. He sometimes relays most on his strength and may even seem like a brute, but he is really sweet.
Description: He is rather large and fluffy. He has dark red/orange fur and dark forest green eyes. He has a long fluffy tail, large ears and a lightly tappered snout aka longer.
Bit of history: The Pre name Crimson comes from his pelt. His mother and father both being cream cats makes this cat a of an oddball. A rumor was swept out in the clan that when he was born, he was the first and most likely largest kit to come out and in the process it killed his mother. The bllod that came out was said to soak over his once white pelt to make him the crimson color he is today. The ending Fox, is from an experiance as an apprentice. He was out in the forest even when he was told to stay in camp due to foxes being in the territory. He relied on his strength and fought a fox in the territory very close to camp and managed to drive the creature off, but got extremely wounded in the process, so injured that his warrior ceremony was postponed until he was given the title CrimsonFox, in honor of his bravery to protect his clan
Name: Fangfeather
Gender: Male
Rank: medicine cat
Personality: He has a dark aura about him and can get aggrivated easily by other cats. The tom really is a brainiac in what he does and is people smart, able to trick them if he really wants to and worm his way into their mind, though he does not do it anymore like he did as an apprentice. He was rather rude to those older than him and now rude to those younger than him for now he is rather old.
Description: A medium dark grey tom with dark stripes and dispite his rough appearance his fur is rather soft, as he hates filth. He has oddly large teeth, his fangs never concealed as they poke out. He is lean with very long legs and a long tail
Bit of History: He was never really bitter from the start, yet not the kindest. He was picked on by his litter mates who all loved to fight and beat him up because he would not fight back, calling them all brutes and saying he already won, not wanting to be like them. while his littermates became warriors apprentices, he saw fighting pointless and decided to be a medicine cat apprentice. He exelled and even surpassed his young medicine cat mentor as he studied non stop. He began to snap at those who interfered with him and slowy becan to sever his connection with his littermates, seeing his studies far more important. Though he still cared for them, they never spoke to him out of fear and he became more distant as each one of them died, out living them all in their warrior years
CrimsonfoxName Rating: 5/10
Name Type: Lyrical
Name Reasoning: Crimson- is a name that could possibly work, but it's really just an overly fancy way of saying Red- (the general rule here is that once you have a name from something, there's no need for extra possibilities - for example, we don't need Blaze- or Flame- because we already have Fire-).
It's nice that he managed to fight off a fox, but he doesn't need any particular name celebrating that - lots of apprentices have done something like that. Plus, it's naming him for a past event, which, at least traditionally, fails to provide an image for who the present cat is. The purpose of a warrior's name is to show off who they are, not what they did.
I can assume, from what you've told me, that he's a good fighter - after all, he held a fox on his own, and that takes a lot of skill, not just strength.
Alternative Name: Redclaw/Foxclaw. Both prefixes allude to a red-colored cat, and -claw represents his fighting abilities.
Character Rating: 9/10
Character Reasoning: The biggest issue here is the "dyeing his coat red" thing. I don't know why that would be a rumor - cats are spiritual, but not superstitious, after all - and there's also the fact that blood dries and turns brown after a while, which would defeat the rumor entirely, but whatever. Other than that, he's solid. His name and the rumor are the only two issues here!
FangfeatherName Rating: 4/10
Name Type: Creative
Name Reasoning: His prefix doesn't work, mainly because kittens are born toothless, and his mother would have had to waited until his baby teeth fell out to name him, which is too dumb of a move to actually happen. It also doesn't describe his coat color, which is a lot more noticeable than any funny teeth, and naming someone after something so tiny is just an irresponsible move on the mother's part - you can't convince me that a mother would see her son's fine grey coat and think "tooth".
-feather has been dashed to death, so I'll just quote from the front:
As a descriptor, it's useless. Feathers can be any color, shape, or size, and even if they were to suggest a personality type like "soft and gentle", it would still fail due to feathers coming in many varieties besides downy.
With that said, let's get to the suggestions.
Alternative Name: Shadeleaf/Stormleaf. Both prefixes cover his dark grey coat, and -leaf makes the assumption of his skill in herbs. It's said that he excelled even his mentor in herbal treatments, so unless his mentor was incredibly incompetent, he's earned the name -leaf.
Character Rating: 7/10
Character Reasoning: The whole pointless bullying thing continues to baffle me. The thing, I guess, is that people make the assumption that warrior life is anything like human life, and it isn't. While humans will rush to defend bullies and blame the victim, warrior life is focused entirely around family, whether or not they're blood-related, and supporting each other to be the best they possibly can. A Clan wouldn't tolerate bullies in the least - they threaten the harmony of Clan life.
Especially considering that these kittens had no actual reason to be mean to him, other than some misconceptions about what it means to be a great warrior (which, I assume, was not what their mother was telling them). Kittens may mistake being a great fighter for being a great warrior, but they would no doubt see cats being praised for their hunting, or the medicine cat for saving so many lives.
As you can see, the whole bully thing just falls apart under inspection. However, there are ways to keep him grumpy.
He could have been a low-energy kitten, who rarely joined in the others' games and as a result felt a little isolated, or he would find it easier to talk with adults, who would recognize the intelligence he has. Heck, he could have even had misconceptions about warriors by himself, which would lead him to feel inferior around his siblings, who were all action-oriented. The complete focus on his work and irritation at being interrupted is great, so that can stay and add to the grump pile.
