Phoenix didn't liked it. Not the way his brown-grey gaze wandered over her body. Not the smirking gaze on his unshaven face, telling everyone that he liked what he saw. Not the way he leaned over her. His scent - disgusting. He really smelled like wet dog. Underneath this scent he had this typical "men-scent", at all that wasn't too bad in the end. Lifting an eyebrow the young witch gazed up at him fixing his gaze for a moment until he leaned away. His words cheeky as ever. He really thought that she would be impressed by him. The reddish haired girl didn't understood the kind of girls who always watched him like he would be Mister Adonis himself. Some of them had started to visit the duelling club just to watch him, even they couldn't even fight an easy spell. And in addition to this misery, she was chosen as his companion. She, Phoenix Brookstone, the girl who could never be more unimpressed.
The positive effect was, that Xander left her side and sat down at the other side of AJ again. The negative effect, she now sat directly next to AJ. Phoenix didn't really cared about him. Well, maybe she didn't liked him. Actually she didn't even knew why, it was just his appearance. Everything about him. Mostly the fact that he acted to bad like Slytherin.
His question combined with his grey gaze sent Phoenix a cold wave over her spine. How did he smell? Like grass, damp and wood...and a scent she knew from somewhere, she just couldn't fix it from where.
Gladly Valkyrie stepped up to the two boys, leading all the interests back on the competition - away from her. Beckett had joined too, but he had decided to keep quiet instead of joining the conversation - by now a wise decision. Phoenix didn't had to look up to know that Valkyrie only sounded confident. That she rather would do something else, instead of lingering around the Slytherin members. She saw her sometimes on the floors. Valkyrie was a beautiful young woman and Phoenix was sure she was a talented witch too.
A feeling of relief filled her slender body, the moment AJ raised from his seat. The moment the Slytherin companion looked up, she already regret it. His grey eyes formed a wink, his silent words determined for Xander. For now she was bound to Xander - and in a special kind of way he was bound to AJ.
Sighing Phoenix turned over to Xander. Looking at him. Her eyes narrowed and the green mixing with the brown in a flash of colors.
        "So? Any plans by now?"

His plate filled with fruits, bacon and more eggs while he listened to Emma. The male Gryffindor was more then happy that she was chosen to be the female contestant. Emma was great. Not only gifted with a beautiful appearance but also with a strong and independent mind, a trait Tyler appreciated very much. It should be very interesting to work with her in the games.
For the first time since yesterday evening the contestant thought about her strength. Yesterday it was just an explosion of events. Celebrating the contestants deep into the night. He hadn't thought that this was actually somehow about winning. Of course Tyler was confident enough to think, that he really had a chance even he was a rather regular student, his only outstanding ability was doing parties and chaos. But he was good in transfiguration and of course flying. Beside his knowing about Mystical Creatures was far above the regular. Tyler only hoped that his talent for improvisations and his bravery would work to win some contests, maybe even the Tournament. It would be great, even if he had to admit that it was somehow often the Gryffindors who won contests.

By now Tyler nearly missed Emmas reply, swallowing down the last bits of bacon he turned back to her grinning.

"Of course it will be great. I mean - look at us - we two definitely have a chance. Besides all the chosen contestants are very interesting characters, that should get really funny. I'm not sure about the companions sometimes...I'm especially sad about the poor guy who has my sister as companion." he answered, his last sentence only a low murmur lost in thoughts. The black haired had looked up, searching for the reddish hair of his half-sister - of course she looked as bitter as always. Shrugging his shoulders he smiled at Emma, winking.
Just that moment Chelsea, his own companion joined the two. A bright smile appeared on Tylers face and his blue eyes glew when the blonde girl sat down next to his side.
"If that isn't my companion" he laughed, giving her a hug too. Tyler just could grin. This whole thing was just awesome - even it was somehow worrying him, that he wasn't worried at all. It would be could to have Chelsea at his side to keep him down. Besides she was good at Defence against Dark Arts - a subject that somehow didn't really counted to his favourites. " Ahh great, and now with a good breakfast in my stomach even better...buut I have to confess I have no plan for the Tournament. Therefore I'm really hanging on your abilities of somehow getting me through. I think without someone I would just stand there, smiling like an idiot and trying to look while I'm burned to my bones by a dragon." he laughed. Clapping Chelsea on the back. "Ah we will do it. And you Emma too, Gryffindor will rock this Tournament."

To Nathan's surprise, his contestant did not wave at him to go away. When she smiled, he couldn't help observing how white her teeth were. Nathan enjoyed studying people's appearances and habits, even though he preferred to be on the sidelines. "Kelpies, yeah," he muttered, casting her another look. He really hoped he hadn't bothered her, but she seemed to be fine. He reached out and grabbed a glass of Pumpkin Juice, while he continued to listen to her.

To his dismay, though, she began to list all of the things that had gone wrong during the last tournament. At her mention of loose beats, he couldn't help the image of a dragon cross his mind. There wouldn't be any of those, right? However, he tried to keep calm, and said distractedly,"Yeah, a bunch of stuff, uh, went wrong. I'm sure they'll have them all fixed up this year though. I mean, they need to put some graduated Ravenclaw's in charge! Then they wouldn't mess up so badly!" He smiled, hoping that he didn't seem as startled and upset as he had looked a few minutes ago. He had never wanted to even be chosen, yet here he was. He wished with all of his heart that he and his new red-headed companion could win the gold and the "Eternal Glory." He'd never be able to forgive himself if he was to fail. Like many other Ravenclaw students, he had a No-Failing Policy.

She did seem eager to help and strategize, a Ravenclaw's true love. Endlessly pouring over books, thinking, and strategizing. Although Natahn was a bright boy, he sometimes wished that he had been born with a different brain and personality. Then, maybe he could have become a Gryffindor. They were so brave, strong, and full of fun! Even the Hufflepuffs were pretty lively, not at all earning their bad reputation. The Slytherins made their dreams happen, even though all of their ways weren't the best. All of the houses had great, exciting, and interesting traits! Except for the studious and antisocial Ravenclaw lot, which he had been placed in.

"Nah, it's alright," he said, waving her apology off. "It's always better to be a realist. There's no disappointment set in store for you then," he said with a smile, surprised at how naturally it came. At her somewhat supportive comments, he let out another smile. Although she was like an average Ravenclaw, introverted and studious, she still was nice and helpful. "Yeah, I'd be happy for the help. I mean, I probably can't do it all on my own!" Without even thinking about it, he let his negative and insecure side show. "After all, I doubt I'll get through the first task alive. The cup was mad to choose me, there are so many better students." He blushed, not even thinking about what he said until it came out of his mouth. He was trying to stop being so insecure, especially around others. It showed his weakness. Still, he couldn't take back what he said. "Forget that, I was being stupid," he said with a sheepish grin.

A blonde girl was bent over the Hufflepuff table, scratching away with a quill on a old, yellowed piece of parchment. the muscles on her face were intent and tightened, and her eyes were baggy. Even though she was almost finished with her task, Genevieve paused for a moment. She picked up her small, compact mirror with her right hand, and started to apply concealer under her eyes with her other hand. Genevieve was a born and raised pureblood; however, this did not stop her from using Muggle tools. In her first year, she was introduced to makeup by a few Muggleborns. Now, she couldn't go a day without wearing it. After applying her concealer, she gave the rest of her face a quick check. She could do with some more eyeliner, but her finishing her homework was more important. With a sigh, she stretched her cramped hands, and then picked up her quill. It was a good fifteen minutes later until her Potions essay was finished. Sure, she had gotten a little redundant in the last paragraph, and might have made a couple things up, but it was still done. Her grade in potions was dismal, and there wouldn't be any point in trying to bring it up so late in their first semester. "I can settle with an A," she sighed, stuffing her essay into her bag.

Soon, other students began to file into the Great Hall. Genevieve stood up and sprang up onto her toes, trying to catch sight of any of the new contestants. She had been so excited for the Triwizard Cup and it's following celebrations that she had shoved her assignments to the side. It was a valid reason, right? Besides, the last Cup had been held twenty years ago, and before that one hundred years ago. "Might as well seize the moment" was her slogan for anything, especially when it dealt with pushing other things back. Still, she couldn't see any students that were chosen through the midst. "Probably still sleeping from the party," she said to herself with a smile, remembering the great celebration the members of her house had the night before. There was defiantly a benefit to having your Common Room near the kitchens. House elves were dying to give food away to them.

As she waited for other students, she began to reflect on the Tournament. It was so dangerous, that subsequently only students who were seventeen could enter. But, how dangerous could it really be? It seemed ludicrous to her that they would be putting underage students in these supposedly dangerous tasks. I'm sure there's no real danger, she thought to herself. They probably are going to look and feel dangerous, when it's really not. After all, they must have fixed the system after the death of Cedric Diggory twenty years prior. Some students in her house were still grieving for him, which left her quite sad. There could never be any danger, especially after the defeat of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, right?

Finally, Genevieve saw some contestants from her house. One, Roderick, was talking to another student, which made Genevieve stop from saying hello. However, the other, Lyssa, was just sitting by herself. She knew that Lyssa was quite shy, and maybe even lonely. Genevieve knew that she hated being alone herself, so why should Lyssa be alone? Slowly, she approached her, not wanting to startle the shy girl. "Hey," she said with a smile. "Excited for the tournament? I was so thrilled I could barely sleep! And well, the party didn't help either," she added with a laugh. "I hope we didn't keep you up," she said, while pulling up a chair. Genevieve could talk the hind leg off a mule, with her chattiness and outgoing personality. "What kind of tasks do you think there'll be?" she mused. "I'm sure they won't be too dangerous!" she added. "They couldn't be..." Her innocence caused her to be blind to the cruelties of the world and the dark hearts of others. She quickly realized she had never introduced herself, and said,"Oh, and I'm Genevieve, Genevieve Hawkins. I already know your name, obviously. Everyone does now!" she added with a beam.

Chelsea looked slightly incredulously at Emma as she said 'okay' and 'good' describing her feelings and the tournament. Was Chelsea supposed to be any less than ecstatic that she'd been chosen to be a companion? She wasn't sure if she even could have handled it had she been chosen to go into the tournament as a contestant from the cup. But then again, Chelsea thought, Emma was probably used to getting chosen to do amazing stuff like the Tournament; the girl seemed quite unique and skilled, and she was most-likely often favored for being a metamorphmagus, as that was pretty rare. Chelsea had honestly liked the girl for a long time, but she'd never really talked to her at all.

Actually, Chelsea hadn't talked to them much because they were both a year ahead of her. Sure, they'd played some house games together and had occasionally exchanged some friendly conversation, since she had talked to pretty much everyone older than her and younger than her by a year by then, but they'd never actually sat together at breakfast or lunch and had an actual, full-out conversation. However, being the socialite she was, she found it extremely easy to strike up conversations with people like she'd known them forever. To some it was profoundly annoying, but most people were just grateful that she was so un-awkward that it made up for all of their awkwardness. Really, Chelsea mostly didn't expect people to talk all that much to her; usually they either tuned her out or just sat there listening to her at she chattered away, even though she was a pretty good listener herself when she met someone who was willing to talk just as much as she always did. However, they were few and far between.

Then, Tyler replied to her appearance next to him by hugging her, and she laughed and hugged him back, a little shocked by the gesture. Maybe she'd just met someone that was a bit like her! It was sort of funny that she had, since she'd just been thinking about it. Tyler just seemed like that sort of guy, she guessed, but she definitely wasn't used to being hugged or hugging people. That was a new tactic for friendliness; she liked it.
"Yeah, Gryffindor definitely has this down. I mean, look at us; we're all amazing! And don't worry, Tyler, I won't let any dragon incinerate you. I hope there won't be dragons there to do that, actually," she said, frowning a little bit. "But if there are, I'm sure Gryffindor will top the charts anyways. What's good for breakfast?" she asked, mostly to herself, as she turned to the table. She was suddenly ravenous; Chelsea might be slender, but she definitely wasn't anorexic (or bulimic, either, for that matter.) Eating and talking were probably her two most favorite things to do.

Noah Riley
♦The Quiet One♦Age:16♦Gryffindor Contestant♦No Crush♦Single♦Current Locations: The Gryffindor Table in the Great Hall♦

Noah woke with a start as something landed on his face; he was immediately met by the clouds, their colours dull and grey. He sat up slightly disorientated and ruffled his hair, feeling grass fall back to the ground as he shook it loose. What am I doing out here?? He frowned as he stood, looking down and seeing he was fully dressed and ready for the day, I must just have come out here and ended up taking a nap. Yesterday was full on after all. He was a companion now, as announced by the headmistress the night before. It was his job to help the Gryffindor contestant win, whether that meant training with her, or researching things for her..the boy's eyes widened as he realised that due to the lack of people around he was either late to lessons, or missing out on breakfast.

Checking his wrist, he noted that it was time for breakfast and jogged steadily to the Great Hall. Checking his pockets to make sure he had his wand, the boy nodded to himself as he prepared to make a speedy walk through everyone to get to the table. His stomach grumbled, causing him to frown and with that he began walking. Noticing that the other contestants and companion were sat together, he decided that now was probably the time to go and introduce himself properly. He cleared his throat as he approached the group, and put his hands in his pockets sheepishly. It's not that he didn't like talking to other people, he just..tended to remain silent, and observe instead. "Morning," He murmured taking a seat next to Emma and grabbing an apple, "did you guys sleep well??" It was strange for the boy to talk, even when teacher's spoke to him he only uttered a few words; so he wouldn't be surprised if the people at his table were surprised to hear him speak up.

Lyssa May Hartley
❀The Shy One❀Age:17❀Hufflepuff Contestant❀No Crush❀Single❀Current Location:The Hufflepuff Table in the Great Hall❀

"H-hi," Lyssa fumbled for words as the girl sat next to her, she tilted her book slightly to make it look as though she'd been reading and not hiding, "it's nice to meet you, you're, uh, Hunter's companion right??" She questioned, not quite sure how this whole event worked. Upon hearing about the party a small blush took to her cheeks, "Truthfully I went to the party for a little while, but, I figured it was best if I got some rest," She smiled a little before continuing, "but as long as you guys had fun, that's all that matters." The party had not been fun, she felt like a different person with everyone approaching her; and the worst part was she didn't know what to say to any of them. She'd been flustered, and ended up going to bed to save herself from embarrassment. It wasn't that the people in her house were horrible; stereotypically they were known for being the complete opposite. She just couldn't talk to people without worrying about what to say. The night hadn't got much better, Genevieve couldn't sleep due to excitement, Lyssa couldn't sleep for a completely different reason.

Realising she's zoned out, she shook her head slightly and focused back on Genevieve, "I guess I'm excited for the tournament..but why I was chosen instead of someone else, I, uh, well I don't really know..as for what the trials could be..I don't really know, I'm hoping they're challenging but not too...dangerous." She echoed the word Genevieve had used, a new worry forming in her mind. She hadn't been worried about the dangers of the tournaments, just making a fool of herself in them. What if they were in fact really dangerous, and one of the competitors got hurt. "I'm sure they'll focus more on the..uh..like..the intellectual side of challenging people, not the physical stuff. That being said..I should probably get practising some new charms, I guess I can't really afford to slip up."

Roderick clasped his hand briefly, giving it a playful squeeze, his own discrete warning for what he decided to do, before pulling away. "I had also assumed that my name would also be known after last night. But I guess it is better that you are seeking a confirmation rather than a reminder." He paused to open the book, slowly flipping the pages without any pretense of reading them. He kept eye contact, only shifting his gaze away to glance at Lyssa and Genevieve, who were talking not to far down the table. "You are right, I am Roderick."

If he didn't think the question was rude, he would've asked Hunter what made him so proud to be a Hufflepuff. Roderick certainly found no reason for pride in his time as a member of this house; he was relentlessly teased by two of his older brothers because of this placement. The last Hufflepuff in his family, a distant great-uncle of his, turned out to be a loony and might as well have been a squib. Oh how he wishes he had been placed in Ravenclaw. But then again, he didn't care too much for reading.

There was only a short pause between his last words and his next: "I have as much interest in this book as a well-fed cat does towards a mouse it has just caught." He stopped flipping the pages. "It's fun to play with." With a swift flick of his wand, Roderick used the switching spell to neatly switch Hunter's and Lyssa's books. He chanced a very short glance at the girl, to make sure the the books had switch undamaged, and he was not disappointed. Closing Lyssa's book, he flashed Hunter a large cheery-looking grin, that was more sarcastic than joyful, and handed him the book.

((I'll post for Kelsey tomorrow, I kind of had to rush this post ^^'))

It seemed as if just the sound of his deep voice was ringing in all the ladies today. No sooner had Xander asked AJ who his contestant was when she was there, in the flash, standing right behind him. He turned, giving her the same once over he had given Phoenix and, though he would not admit it, he liked what he saw. She was slim and athletic with dark hair and almost equally dark eyes. Xander bit his lip.

A moment later, that same bite served to keep him from laughing as AJ steered the girl away from the Slytherin table, telling her they should begin strategizing for the tasks. This was, of course, just a way to get her away from them, which would have been evident to Xander even if AJ hadn't mouthed his intention to return.

"So, any plans by now?" His companion's voice came from his left and he turned his storm-coloured eyes on her. Now that AJ had moved, she was basically sitting beside him. For some reason, the idea that he was stuck with her as his companion for however long this Tournament took made him both angry and delighted. Maybe it was the challenge in her eyes?

Xander yawned in response. "Planning is for losers," he told Phoenix. "I'm a winner." He turned to Beckett, hoping for some back-up. "Right, my man? I mean, if there's anyone in Slytherin who could win this Tournament for their house, it's me."

Turning back to Phoenix, that lazy smile appeared on his face once more. "Then again, you don't need someone else's word to know I'm a winner. You've seen me duel - I've even battled you before. And you, my little fiery bird, should know that I'm a winner by now." Xander thought he was being quite clever, calling Phoenix 'fiery bird', as that is what her name meant, really, but she did not seem amused.

Vivianne smiled softly, happy she was getting to know her contestant. For one, she already knew she would have to stop being her usual blunt self if Nathan was to have any self-esteem left at all. He was already putting himself down and the tasks hadn't even started.

"Who else could the cup have picked?" she asked quietly, focussing her blue eyes on Nathan. "I'm sure you'll be the best contestant, or at least the best one you can be once the tasks roll around." He really was adorable, with his sheepish smile and slightly embarrassed look.

Vivianne's eyes flicked away from Nathan's face when AJ and Valkyrie approached the table. Her small smile was immediately replaced with a scowl at the sight of the traitorous Ravenclaw. She raised an eyebrow at Nathan and, under her breath, whispered, "If it makes you feel any better, you're definitely a better choice than AJ over here." Not particularly wanting to abandon Valkyrie, but very uncomfortable in AJ's presence, Vivianne pushed her plate away from her and got up from the Ravenclaw table, turning to the Hufflepuff table instead. She had seen Hunter reading a book and was curious as to what it was about.

Checking to see if Nathan would follow her, she approached Hunter and Roderick where they were sitting at the Hufflepuff table just in time to see Roderick switch Hunter and Lyssa's books. Vivianne immediately decided that she did not like Roderick - anyone who treated books that way was not worthy of her admiration or respect. Sitting down across from the them, she took her own wand out and reversed Roderick's spell, scowling at the boy. Then, she turned to Hunter with a smile. "What's your book about? I find I'm a little short on reading material lately and was curious."

══════════════════════════════════╝
Hunter had been content to wait for Roderick to give his book back. Keyword: had. When the guy talked, it was in an annoyed, mischievous sort of manner, and that made Hunter very uneasy. What was Roderick planning to do with his book anyways? Read it in front of him? Hunter didn't think anyone would do that, but with this guy, he wasn't too sure. From the way he said he'd assumed Hunter already knew his name from the night before, it was sort of clear that that slightly annoyed him. Actually, Hunter had been trying to avoid an awkward situation, since he'd never talked to Roderick before and hadn't noticed him until last night. What if he had been wrong, and Roderick hadn't really been Roderick, but just somebody who resembled the guy he'd seen briefly last night?

It was only when Roderick said that books were 'fun to play with' that Hunter really knew he was up to something, though. What the heck could that mean? Hunter started reaching for his book, saying,
"Give it b-" but Roderick had swished his wand and already flopped the book- the wrong book -into Hunter's hand. He gaped down at the cover of the book for a moment, feeling color rising in his cheeks. It's okay. Handle this, he thought, taking in a deep breath, and scowled at Roderick. "What the heck was that for?" he asked. He had almost added, Do you know how much it cost me to just buy that for myself? but he didn't because he knew it would draw attention to the fact that he was muggle-raised and, as a wizard, poor. Hunter didn't mind being poor; he'd been poor all his life, even before he'd been a wizard. It was pretty common knowledge that he was muggle-raised, especially with as clueless as he had been as a first year. However, it'd taken him a long time to get rid of all the ridicule he got for being that way. Even Hufflepuffs, though the house seemed to harbor the most muggle-borns, sometimes frowned upon muggle-borns and wizards that might as well have been muggle-born. Hunter personally found muggle-borns to be kind of amazing; they had absolutely no magic in their blood, and yet they were still witches and wizards.

Hunter had picked up his wand and was about to reverse the spell Roderick had placed himself when suddenly he was holding his own book again- The Odysseys of the Potion World' -and he looked up to see a Ravenclaw girl drop into the seat opposite him. Since she was holding her wand and giving Roderick a dirty look, Hunter assumed that it had been she and not Roderick who had reversed the spell. His suspicion was practically confirmed when she asked him what the book was about. So she loved books too. She was also quite pretty, with her dyed-red hair and blue eyes. Not surprising from a Ravenclaw, but nonetheless, it made Hunter happy that at least somebody understood him.

Maybe I should have been a Ravenclaw, he thought.
"It's basically just a compilation of really weird potions," he said, skimming quickly through it to make sure that nothing had been harmed in the process of it getting tossed around. "It's actually pretty interesting. I can lend it to you if you want." He smiled, closing the book again so that she could see the title and looking back up at her. This was Vivianne Finnegan; he'd often seen her in the library, both with and without friends, and from what he'd seen she shared the same care for books as he did. Plus, of course, she had been named a companion in the Tournament.

Nathan let out a small smile and a shrug at Vivienne's question. "I dunno," he muttered, allowing himself one quick glance at her startlingly blue eyes. "I'm sure I won't get too far without your help," he added quietly. All of his supposed intelligence aside, he knew he had no "street smarts" as others wizards put it. He earned from the book, and nothing else. Hopefully Viv would help him develop a different mindset during these new, grueling tasks. And maybe he would even make a friend.

He nodded at her comment, glancing over at AJ, who was with the other Ravenclaw champion, Valkyrie. AJ was a Ravenclaw, but he never seemed to stick with his own house. Instead, he was always with the Slytherins, and one Slytherin boy in particular. Nathan didn't understand why AJ wasn't sorted into Slytherin. He had the personality, cunning, and ego of one. How could Valkyrie trust him if he was always conniving with Xander. "Yeah," he added under his breath. "I wonder how useful he'll be." He glanced over his shoulder once again, making sure they weren't listening. "I bet he's a going to try and spy on our strategies, and then tell all the Slytherins." Nathan usually wasn't one for prejudices. For example, he didn't think Muggleborns were untalented or behind. He also didn't share the general idea that Hufflepuffs were a mediocre house. However, he still didn't like the general personality or attitudes of Slytherins. It made his skin crawl. So when Vivienne rose to walk to the Hufflepuff table, Nathan felt relived.

He followed behind the pretty, blue-eyed redhead like a puppy. He was trying to block out his sudden rush of affections that he felt for her. She's just a companion, nothing more. Only a friend, if she wants to be. Besides, why would anyone feel that way for me? He stood next to her, watching her interactions with the other Hufflepuff students with a distant exterior. He said nothing and dd nothing, other than observe. As Lyssa's book was swapped around, he felt a sudden, rising anger. How could Roderick just switch a book with ease? They were meant to be respected and taken care of. Not to mention that it wasn't even his; it was Hunter's. Viv and Hunter talked about books, leaving Nathan eager to jump in on the conversation. Potions was always a favorite class of his; the intricate mixing and blending of the liquids was almost and art form for him. As he stood by them awkwardly, he grew tired of being a third wheel. Soon, students began to file out of the Great hall for classes. Finally, he spoke up and said,"Uh, are you guys ready to go soon? I think classes are going to start momentarily." He felt a blush coming on at speaking up. Who even wanted to go to class, except him?

Even she tried to keep her eyes focused on the plate in front of her, Phoenix couldn't miss that Xander checked Valkyrie the same way he had checked her. The tense in his body was clear - even the Slytherin contestant was good in hiding it. If he should do this with every female contestant it could turn out to be a problem. Nothing against building up allies and friendships, but flirting with every girl distracted too much. For the moment these thoughts moved through her mind, Phoenix bite her tongue. Did she really started to think about how to win this game? Yesterday she had promised herself only to do the most needed, trying to stay back in the shadows as every time. But with Xander as assigned contestant this could turn out to be some kind of impossible. There were no reasons that would explain that she had been chosen as companion. Maybe some knew more about her abilities as she thought - there was no other explanation for her being put together in a team with someone like Xander. Overly confident, arrogant in her eyes - flirting with everyone. At the evening Phoenix had even begged for her being replaced by someone else, but only received a smile and encouragingly words.

Swallowing down a bit of orange she met his stormy gaze. He had a strong mind and heart, that was for sure. Maybe it wasn't too bad, he really had a chance of winning... Or maybe not, regarding to his answer. "Planning is for loosers...and you my fiery bird should know that I'm a winner by now." Pressing her light rose lips together Phoenix rose from her seat. She could feel the anger rising in her chest. In the edges of her glowing eyes she saw the fire at the wall flickering higher, making her biting her lips. Careful, she warned herself. Just a few weeks ago, the witch had discovered that she could play with fire without using a wand or even words - something she just couldn't control. The fear that someone might had seen it, calmed her down immediately.
Still narrowing her eyes, Phoenix focused back on Xander.

"First of all." she started, her voice quiet but determined "I am not your little fiery bird. Don't dare to call me like that again. Second I don't care. It's your reputation. If you think being you is enough to win this. Okay. Then I can lean back and do nothing. But don't come to me later and ask for help. The others aren't just some little sorcerers. Many of them can things you don't have a clue about - it won't be like a light mid-summer walk through a meadow." turning around, Phoenix was about to leave when she hesitated and turned back to her contestant. "You duelled me once. Years ago. I haven't participated any duel in your club since then. You should be careful." with her last words the with brought up a cheeky smile and gave Xander a wink before she made herself a way out of the Great Hall.

On the way to the classroom Phoenix had problems to calm down again. For some reasons she felt that this will be a hard time. By now Xander didn't knew that she was the eyes and ears of the school. If something happened she knew it. A look at someone and all their secrets laid in front of them like open cards. Her only fear was that he might discover more as she wanted him to know. Now one needed to know what her secrets were - and she had a lot of them hiding behind her masquerade.

Phoenix was the first, arriving at the classroom. Entering silently she searched for her place at the back. Opening her books, remaining in her thoughts she could only wait for the others to arrive.

Tyler laughed out heavily at Chelsea. Everyone knew her at the open-mouthed, humours student and it was very delightful to know that she was at his side for the Tournament. She was intelligent and a good plan-maker. As a team the two of them would definitely would look great. A cheeky smile appeared on his face gifting his companion with a long gaze. "I'm glad to hear this. Death by Dragon is not my favourite. If I die I want to look good - not delicious." he answered joking. He knew he should be a more serious about the contest, at all there already died people. But the excitement filled his blood with adrenaline and Tyler just couldn't get really serious about it. He hope this would be going to change later the day when the first task would be announced.
His blue gaze wandered over the delicious breakfast, his fingers pointing at the fruits, eggs and bacon.
"I think everything is great...but looking at the watch we should really hurry. DADA is going to start soon and I really don't want to get a look from Mrs Weasley. You know, that totally serious one. Besides I forgot my books in my room. Which sadly needs me to leave you girls. Will see you. Oh and Chelsea we do have a date later. A bit of planning wouldn't hurt" with a wink at Emma and Chelsea Tyler grabbed himself an apple and raised from his seat, leaving the Great Hall running.

Most times he just loved that the Gryffindor rooms were in the tower - but in hurry the stairs were sometimes really annoying. He remembered too well that he had often been surprised by the moving stairs. For his own sake he had learned to see when the stairs were about to change and Tyler didn't had the problem to end in some forbidden tracks.
In his room he raced to his bed, rummaging at his things to find his books. A squeal let him look up. Jester sat at his typical place and as always his orange eyes looked at him sceptically. Flapping with his wide wings and tweeting like a bird he commented Tylers search.
"I really should have taken the other owl. You just don't have any manners my boy" he snarled at his Barn Owl. A relieved sigh filled the empty room when he found his book. Stroking Jesters head, the black haired wizard turned on his heels, running back down.
He would be late for class - again.

Roderick

Roderick wanted to explain that this had been a joke; that the book was unharmed because he was good at this spell. He wanted to say that this was all harmless fun, "See?" He would have proved it by reversing his spell, his wand was held ready to do so, and Hunter's book would be back in the rightful hands of it's owner. What he was unsure of was whether he had switched the books to make a friend by portraying himself as playful, or if he wanted to show off some of his skills while he actually had someone's attention. But he was in no mood to dwell on the meaning of his actions, considering that someone had interfered with his 'plans' and ruined his fun.

Vivianne, followed by her contestant, Nathan, came over to glare at him and reverse his spell. She hadn't even given him the time, nor the option to explain himself. How was he to make sure Hunter knew his joke had absolutely no malicious intent when she just plops down at their table and starts a conversation with Hunter. He wanted to let her know how impolite it was to interrupt, but Hunter had replied to her as if he wasn't there. He had been forgotten.

Roderick didn't know why he felt surprised; this happened often enough. He would try starting or joining a conversation of some sort, but when the subject changes, it's as if he was not apart of the discussion at all. He just fades into the background. "Ya too queer to make friends, Rook." His brother has frequently said, to mock him of course, but the must be some truth in it considering how invisible he has been for so long. Not that he has anything to complain about, he often reasons, since he has grown used to being alone.

Unfortunately, reason couldn't stop the resentment, from being so blatantly pushed aside, from boiling at the pit of his stomach. Even though he should have expected the treatment, doesn't make it right. It's not right and it's unfair; he almost wants to scream, maybe they'll notice him then! But he doesn't. Roderick silently takes a deep breath and releases it, pressing down on his anger until it dwindles into a simmer. "Thank you Nathan." He speaks, feeling as if he was defiantly saying "I'm still here!" His words are just as polite and soft as he usually speak, though a little strained. "I'm off to class then." With that as his farewell, he stood up to leave the Great Hall.

    "Mow. Meow. Merow!"
Kelsey woke up with a mouthful, noseful, and earful of cat. Her cat, Shadow, was sitting on her face, something he only does when she sleeps in. "Honestly, Stinker, you couldn't have woken me up earlier?" She huffed as she noticed the time; breakfast would soon be over. She rushed to put on clothes and straighten herself out, all the while ignoring the smug, and slightly judging, look of her cat. "Don't give me that look; the party ran late last night. I had every reason to celebrate all night." She couldn't help but grumble as she bent to pick up her books that she would need that day. Shadow, who still looked extremely amused, lept onto her shoulders as she rose and hurried out the door. "I can't wait until you get so fat that you just slip off of me." The only response she received was a cat-like snort and a gently swat to the ear.

Entering the Great Hall and heading for the Slytherin table, Kelsey heard, with little trouble at all, Xander bragging. Without looking, she knew that Shadow was probably rolling his eyes. "He's so lame." She murmured to her pet, satisfied with the purr that she recognized as his chuckle. Thankfully, Phoenix was done tolerating him. Kelsey stood off to the side as the girl said her words before leaving. She hoped Phoenix could sense her silent support. Of course, she was none too quiet once Phoenix was gone. "Wow," she whistled, walking the rest of the way over to Xander and Beckett, "she told you." Resting her hand on Beckett's shoulder, she leaned in between the two to grab a roll and pop it into her mouth. "The only reason you were chosen was so that you could learn not to be such a prat." She said in between the three bites it took to finish off her roll. "The reason why I was chosen was so that ya'll will be humbled when I win."
