Hunter landed with a soft, expert thud, looking appreciatively at his broomstick as he shouldered it. It was a very chilly morning, but he hadn't been on the field in a few days and had been itching to fly. He didn't own a firebolt- only wizards with actual wizard currency could own a firebolt, and since he was a muggle-raised half-blood, he was poor -but he'd gotten enough money that he could buy his current broomstick, and it was enough. It had helped him win many games for the Hufflepuffs, being a true seeker.

When he walked into the school, it was bustling with activity; professors were running around yelling at troublemakers, students who were still half-asleep dragged themselves to the Great Hall, and others who'd already been up for a while- like him -were making their way either to breakfast or from breakfast. Hunter descended to the basement, were the Hufflepuff dormitories were, tapped out the password, and made his way to his dormitory. As he expected, it was abandoned.

Hunter scooted his duffle bag under his bed, grabbed a book from his school bag, and hurried out of the deserted dormitories and to the main floor. By the time he slid into his seat at the Hufflepuff table, basically everyone had already started eating. Smelling of the crisp autumn air, with his brown hair windblown and his nose red from the cold, it was pretty obvious that he'd just gotten in from flying. Since Quidditch season was out, most to all of his team had already put up their brooms for the season.

Hunter flipped the book open- it happened to be a book called 'The Odysseys of the Potion World' -to where he'd left off, on a potion that would supposedly turn all writing utensils into pickles. He grinned as the page explained very seriously that 'these new and improved writing utensils should not be eaten, however; you'll find that unfortunately, the core of your pickle will still be made of lead or ink, a problem that many Potions Masters have puzzled over for centuries.'

Hunter wondered how so many witches and wizards didn't read as he took another bite of his bacon, careful not to drip grease onto the pages of the strange book. It was something he'd always found exciting, even if the book didn't necessarily have a plot line, like the book he was reading. Then again, even though most people assumed he was rather popular among the Hufflepuffs, he usually kept to himself and therefore didn't really have anybody to understand. Closing his book, he looked around his table. How could he have gone so long without really making any solid friends?

Chelsea yawned, stretching her arms into the air as she woke up. Jazzy, her cat, padded promptly into the room, a mouse dangling from her jaws and her yellow eyes alight with pride. Chelsea laughed. "That's gross, Jazz. Take it somewhere else." Jazzy stopped, giving her a scandalized look, as if she were saying 'How dare you insult my mouse in such a careless manner,' before she turned and stalked out of the dormitory.

Then, the events of the night before flooded her mind, and she suddenly found that she couldn't stop smiling. Who the heck knew why, but the Headmistress had chosen her to be the female Gryffindor companion, and she felt excitement stirring in her stomach. She was undeniably good at Defense Against the Dark Arts and Charms and she held up great in Dueling Club, but still... she'd been chosen for the spot! With a spring in her step, she fixed her hair into its usual braid and made her way down to the Great Hall. It was already crowded, as she always rose later than most other witches and wizards in the school, but she had no problem locating the two contestants. She was the companion to Tyler, so she sat down next to him, her eyes still sparkling with excitement and a smile still on her face.
"So, how does it feel to be the contestants for Gryffindor?" she asked, feeling abnormally cheerful. Tyler and Emma weren't people she usually talked to, but then again, Chelsea thought, she talked to pretty much anyone who'd be willing to talk back.

Then, Chelsea wondered if they would be willing to talk back. They seemed pretty close to each other, so she was obviously the third wheel, but as long as they didn't completely ignore her she wouldn't mind. Both of them seemed to be nice, at least, so she pushed away those thoughts. She was too happy for stuff like to spoil her morning anyways.

Smoke danced about the corners of his vision, like leaves soaring by in the wind. The taste of the air was acrid, burning his nose and lungs. sweat formed on his brow, due to the intense heat, but also his intense fear. A distant roar filled the air, but he was so focused on his task that Nathan paid no heed to it. Before him was a dragon. He had no idea what he needed to do; he was just thrown into the area. Tentatively, he took a few steps forward. It was a large green dragon, most likely a Common Welsh Green, but still terrifying nonetheless. Dragons had always been a fear of his, ever since he was burnt by a hatchling as a first year. A large scar wrapped around his arm from the burn, leaving him a marked wizard. Trying to abandon all pretenses of fear, he withdrew his wand from his pocket. However, the dragon must have sensed his movement, because it opened it's slitlike yellow eyes. Pupils dilated, it opened its mouth and let out a deafening roar. Nathan stayed in place, paralyzed with fear. Eventually, he was able to mutter,"C-confringo!" The magic, albeit his vast knowledge, was still weak, and only left the dragon feeling more agitated. As he shakily raised his wand for another shot, it broke free from the chains that tethered it to the ground. Nathan let out a scream, putting his hands over his face as the beast flew right at him...

Nathan awoke with a jolt, sending his blankets astray. Panting hard, he shrewdly observed his surrounding. "I'm in the dorms, it's just a dream," he muttered, sinking back into his comforting pillows. For a few minutes, he just laid there, thinking of the events of the previous days. Their headmaster gave them exciting news as they returned from their summer holidays. The esteemed Triwizard tournament was to take place at their school! Nathan, like many others was thrilled of the excitement that the tasks would contain. "Eternal glory" was the way the headmaster had put it. Nathan, like many others, entered his name in the Goblet of Fire. He doubted he would be picked, considering the vast number of students and the limited number of spots within each house. However, his name had been chosen, and now he was one of the two champions for Ravenclaw. His face had been completely slack and stunned. At first, he was excited, and rather proud. He allowed the other students to cheer him on. Besides, when had he gotten any spotlight or attention? Once he had time to think about it, though, he realized how dangerous it would be. Even worse, what if he came in last place? He was always book smart, but never good with dueling or athletics. How would he make it out alive?

Finally, he hauled himself out of bed with a groan. By the looks of it, most of the other students were already up. He put on his robes and attempted to get a brush though his bushy hair. He walked through the hallways, dazed and listless. His eyes were bloodshot, and he looked almost like a zombie out of those horror Muggle movies. He arrived at the Great Hall and sat at a random place near the Ravenclaw table. He reached out to grasp a glass of Pumpkin Juice, and noticed a girl, reading, in the corner of his eye. At closer inspection, it was Vivienne, He knew that she mostly kept to herself or helped Hagrid. However, he was desperate to talk to somebody, to take his mind off of his imminent future. He rose to his feet, approached her, and then peered over her shoulder, noting that she was reading Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. He cleared his throat and said,"Fantastic beats and Where to Find Them, huh? Good book, I've always liked it myself." Except the part about dragons, he added as an afterthought. He sat next to her, not in any rush to get to his classes, which started later in the afternoon. "Are you excited for the games?" he said, trying his best not to be the awkward boy he usually was. As an afterthought, he added,"If I'm disturbing you, don't be afraid to tell me. I mean I can go," he added with a look at the hallway. He desperately hoped he could make a close friend soon. He would need a companion to get him through the dangerous tasks.

(Will post for Genevieve later, this post wiped me out.

VALKYRIE NOX
ᴛʜᴇ ʀᴇsᴏᴜʀᴄᴇғᴜʟ ʀᴀᴠᴇɴᴄʟᴀᴡ
━━━━━━━━━━━━
17 female contestant
great hall no tags

Valkyrie gave a small yawn, turning over in the large chair in an attempt to make herself comfortable. The girls eyes were still closed, and she had no real intention of waking up any time soon. Groaning she turned over once more, her black hair a tangled mess that framed a delicate face. Blinking open her eyes, the girl rubbed them for a moment and turned her attention to the thin watch that rested upon her wrist. It took her a moment to make out the time, as she was sure she had seen it wrong at first. But, no, no she hadn't, and that could only mean one thing. "Shoot." She muttered, sending books cluttering to the ground as she jumped to her feet. Straightening her robes, Valkyrie quickly combed fingers through her hair in an attempt to regain some semblance of decency.

Nearly every day for the past week or so, Kyrie had been late attending most of her classes, and now she was once again in a race against the clock. If she rushed, she was sure she could make it to the great hall in time for breakfast, but she'd really have to hurry. The Ravenclaw was fast in putting away the books she'd used, and it didn't prove too hard to exit the restricted section of the library without being spotted. Stairs would be a different matter, though. Running as fast as her feet could carry her, the raven-haired girl was half-way down the steps when she pitched forward, her foot catching on the edges of her robe. "Glisseo!" She yelped, her wand having made its way into her hand swiftly. Valkyrie slammed into the stairs, now turned into a slide of sorts, on her stomach.

She gave a groan of discomfort as she slid to the bottom of the staircase, garnering looks of shock and disbelief from a passing group of first years. After nearly barreling into the group, the girl sprung to her feet, turning sharply she shouted out a 'sorry' to the young wizards and continued on her way. The young witch slid into the great hall, taking a few moments to catch her breath before squaring her shoulders. Though she could feel stares boring into her at her uncommonly disheveled looks. With a blush heating her cheeks, Valkyrie made her way to her usual spot at the Ravenclaw table, settling in and keeping her head down as she began to pick at her plate of food.

Gender - |Male| ☳ ☷ Age - |17| ☳ ☷ Wand - |Holly and Dragon Heartstring|

Breakfast is one of his favorite times of the day. Each morning he enters the Great Hall at the very start of breakfast, sits in a seat, a different one each day, and watches as everyone comes and goes. It's almost a stretch to call his morning activity "people watching", considering that he hardly takes notice of who enters the Hall. His focus is usually split between nibbling on his food, practicing spells non-verbally, and making sure he doesn't get caught. Though extra precautions, he finds, are completely unnecessary. No one has ever caught him before, or at least has never confronted him if they had. If he didn't appreciate the lack of attention towards him, he might've felt a little affronted.

It's times like these, the day after the announcing of the House Tournament's contestants and companions, that he's truly grateful for his 'ability' to fade into the background. More accurately, he's not a notable person; a large part of his house didn't know who to congratulate when his name was announced as Lyssa's companion. Of course, his pride finds it more appealing to believe that his very low popularity is due to a conscious effort to stay inconspicuous.

Roderick pulled himself out of his musings just as someone slid into the seat next to him and it took him a quick glance to figure out who it was. Hunter, one of Hufflepuff's contestant. With that mystery solved, he focused his attention back to the roll that he was moving across the floor, swerving between students' feet, with the levitation charm. A moment after the roll was stepped on by a third-year Gryffindor, who let out a disgusted huff, he heard the soft noise of a book closing.

A minuscule smirk tilted up the corner of his mouth; the boy next to him was looking around the table, almost as if he doesn't know where he is. With a slight wave of his wand, he cast the summoning charm to pull the book out of Hunter's hands and into his. "If you're looking for the Ravenclaw table," he spoke softly with a humorous lilt to his voice, "it's over there." He jabbed his wand, harmlessly, in the direction of the table.

Lyssa May Hartley
❀The Shy One❀Age:17❀Hufflepuff Contestant❀No Crush❀Single❀Current Location:The Hufflepuff Table in the Great Hall❀

It felt different waking up now, Lyssa decided as her eyes flittered open and shut again. She groaned as the sun abruptly hit her face and turned over with a pout. Sitting up and scrunching her face as she yawned, the events of yesterday replayed in Lyssa's mind. She groaned again, covering her face with her pillow as she realised that it was officially impossible for her to be invisible anymore. Before she'd never had to speak to anyone, and nobody had even attempted to talk to her. Since yesterday she'd had people that she'd never even met coming up to her and congratulating her as if they were best friends. To be honest the whole thing had made her a little nervous, and she was worried about going to breakfast. No doubt she would be the topic of a fair few conversations. Deciding that if she didn't get out of bed now, she never would, Lyssa threw down her pillow and stood, arching her back with a yawn. Flinging her windows open wide, the girl started to sing a bunch of cheery songs as she got ready. Braiding her hair and securing it with a yellow ribbon, she gave herself a nod of approval in a nearby mirror before picking up a book from her drawers and heading down to the Great Hall.

On the way there, her mind drifted to the tasks that faced her and she found herself wondering what the tasks would consist of, and what sort of skills they'd require. Being a Hufflepuff, most expected her to be a little dopey but she wasn't. Her grades were average..in most classes, and she was quite good at healing charms now. She could also ride a broom, not that anyone would ever know that, she only flew at night. Smiling to herself, Lyssa decided that would be her secret weapon, flying, and healing..if there were any tasks I could use that in, that would be great. Entering the Great Hall, Lyssa ducked her head as she walked through a cluster of students, desperate to get to her table unnoticed. She sat down with a sigh of relief, and immediately grabbed some toast. Propping her book in front of her face she looked over the top of it nervously, spying a few of her classmates. One of them caught her eye for a different reason; Roderick Geld. My new partner in crime, Lyssa rolled her eyes, wondering whether she should say hey or not.

Xander revelled in the attention. So what if he was loud, boasting about the House Tournament? Let the other houses stare and learn what a true wizard is like. He knew many of the students in other houses did not like him, but he really couldn't be bothered to care.

A voice behind him - a female voice - snapped him out of his momentary high and he turned to see Phoenix, who had been assigned as his companion. A smirk appeared on his handsome face as he let his storm-coloured eyes wander up her body, taking in her slim figure before landing on her pretty face. It was nicely shaped, her long and curvy hair framing her face the way her long and dark eyelashes framed her pretty green-brown eyes. Unfortunately, the words that came out of her mouth were not pretty or nice at all, which, for some reason, did not bother Xander at all. He liked it when pretty girls were unafraid to say mean things.

"A wet dog, you say?" Xander replied, blocking her path to the Slytherin table. A small smile slipped onto his face as he observed her reaction. "If the smell bothers you, then why are you planning on sitting next to me at all? I guess you'll have to get used to it, but still, it's a little counter-intuitive, is it not?" He leaned closer to her, having to bend over slightly since she was shorter than he was. "Don't worry, I understand that you just can't stay away." The Slytherin boy finished with a wink before getting out of her way and going to sit beside AJ.

Shoving food onto his plate, Xander turned to his friend, who was already enjoying breakfast. He narrowed his eyes as he studied the Ravenclaw boy, once again wondering why AJ was in the blue house and not the green one. Shrugging in defeat, he decided to strike up a conversation - both to learn more about AJ's contestant and in order to avoid further interaction with Phoenix, who was on his other side. "So, who's your contestant?" he asked non-chalantly, looking over at the Ravenclaw table. His eyes ran over Nathan, one of the other male contestants, and the two girls sitting near him - one with dark hair and the other with a fiery mane.

It was interesting that the person to distract Vivianne from her book this morning was none other than the contestant she had been assigned to: Nathan Deeran. She did not know very much about him, only that he was a seventh year in Ravenclaw and quite awkward despite his intelligence. But, then again, most of the Ravenclaw's were awkward around other people, being so immersed in books that social interaction came second to knowledge.

She smiled warmly at him. "No, it's fine, really, I was finished reading up on kelpies anyway," Vivianne said, flashing him a smile that showed off her incredibly white teeth. She could tell he was trying to strike up a conversation and didn't want to put him off right away - she was, after all, his companion, and they would have to work together if Nathan had any chance of winning. Not that he necessarily needed her help, but two Ravenclaw brains were always better than just one.

"I'm looking forward to them, but I'm kind of worried that they'll be dangerous," she continued. "I mean, looking back at the last Triwizard Cup, which is really the most similar thing there is to this House Tournament, a lot of things went wrong. Beasts were set loose, people died. Who knows what will happen this time?" It was only after these words were out of her mouth that Vivianne realized this was probably not the best thing to be telling Nathan, who was competing in this year's tournament. He looked very uncomfortable listening to her talk.

Vivianne scrunched up her nose, cursing her bluntness. "I'm sorry, I don't mean to scare you. I'm just... A realist, I suppose. Very blunt about these things. But, I'm sure you'll make it through. Once we know what the first task is, we can begin strategizing immediately?" She looked at the Ravenclaw boy hopefully, wondering if he would take her up on the offer. The red-head really hoped that they would be able to forge a bond between contestant and companion that would help Nathan feel more confident about participating in the Tournament and, potentially, winning it.

To Nathan's surprise, his contestant did not wave at him to go away. When she smiled, he couldn't help observing how white her teeth were. Nathan enjoyed studying people's appearances and habits, even though he preferred to be on the sidelines. "Kelpies, yeah," he muttered, casting her another look. He really hoped he hadn't bothered her, but she seemed to be fine. He reached out and grabbed a glass of Pumpkin Juice, while he continued to listen to her.

To his dismay, though, she began to list all of the things that had gone wrong during the last tournament. At her mention of loose beats, he couldn't help the image of a dragon cross his mind. There wouldn't be any of those, right? However, he tried to keep calm, and said distractedly,"Yeah, a bunch of stuff, uh, went wrong. I'm sure they'll have them all fixed up this year though. I mean, they need to put some graduated Ravenclaw's in charge! Then they wouldn't mess up so badly!" He smiled, hoping that he didn't seem as startled and upset as he had looked a few minutes ago. He had never wanted to even be chosen, yet here he was. He wished with all of his heart that he and his new red-headed companion could win the gold and the "Eternal Glory." He'd never be able to forgive himself if he was to fail. Like many other Ravenclaw students, he had a No-Failing Policy.

She did seem eager to help and strategize, a Ravenclaw's true love. Endlessly pouring over books, thinking, and strategizing. Although Natahn was a bright boy, he sometimes wished that he had been born with a different brain and personality. Then, maybe he could have become a Gryffindor. They were so brave, strong, and full of fun! Even the Hufflepuffs were pretty lively, not at all earning their bad reputation. The Slytherins made their dreams happen, even though all of their ways weren't the best. All of the houses had great, exciting, and interesting traits! Except for the studious and antisocial Ravenclaw lot, which he had been placed in.

"Nah, it's alright," he said, waving her apology off. "It's always better to be a realist. There's no disappointment set in store for you then," he said with a smile, surprised at how naturally it came. At her somewhat supportive comments, he let out another smile. Although she was like an average Ravenclaw, introverted and studious, she still was nice and helpful. "Yeah, I'd be happy for the help. I mean, I probably can't do it all on my own!" Without even thinking about it, he let his negative and insecure side show. "After all, I doubt I'll get through the first task alive. The cup was mad to choose me, there are so many better students." He blushed, not even thinking about what he said until it came out of his mouth. He was trying to stop being so insecure, especially around others. It showed his weakness. Still, he couldn't take back what he said. "Forget that, I was being stupid," he said with a sheepish grin.

A blonde girl was bent over the Hufflepuff table, scratching away with a quill on a old, yellowed piece of parchment. the muscles on her face were intent and tightened, and her eyes were baggy. Even though she was almost finished with her task, Genevieve paused for a moment. She picked up her small, compact mirror with her right hand, and started to apply concealer under her eyes with her other hand. Genevieve was a born and raised pureblood; however, this did not stop her from using Muggle tools. In her first year, she was introduced to makeup by a few Muggleborns. Now, she couldn't go a day without wearing it. After applying her concealer, she gave the rest of her face a quick check. She could do with some more eyeliner, but her finishing her homework was more important. With a sigh, she stretched her cramped hands, and then picked up her quill. It was a good fifteen minutes later until her Potions essay was finished. Sure, she had gotten a little redundant in the last paragraph, and might have made a couple things up, but it was still done. Her grade in potions was dismal, and there wouldn't be any point in trying to bring it up so late in their first semester. "I can settle with an A," she sighed, stuffing her essay into her bag.

Soon, other students began to file into the Great Hall. Genevieve stood up and sprang up onto her toes, trying to catch sight of any of the new contestants. She had been so excited for the Triwizard Cup and it's following celebrations that she had shoved her assignments to the side. It was a valid reason, right? Besides, the last Cup had been held twenty years ago, and before that one hundred years ago. "Might as well seize the moment" was her slogan for anything, especially when it dealt with pushing other things back. Still, she couldn't see any students that were chosen through the midst. "Probably still sleeping from the party," she said to herself with a smile, remembering the great celebration the members of her house had the night before. There was defiantly a benefit to having your Common Room near the kitchens. House elves were dying to give food away to them.

As she waited for other students, she began to reflect on the Tournament. It was so dangerous, that subsequently only students who were seventeen could enter. But, how dangerous could it really be? It seemed ludicrous to her that they would be putting underage students in these supposedly dangerous tasks. I'm sure there's no real danger, she thought to herself. They probably are going to look and feel dangerous, when it's really not. After all, they must have fixed the system after the death of Cedric Diggory twenty years prior. Some students in her house were still grieving for him, which left her quite sad. There could never be any danger, especially after the defeat of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, right?

Finally, Genevieve saw some contestants from her house. One, Roderick, was talking to another student, which made Genevieve stop from saying hello. However, the other, Lyssa, was just sitting by herself. She knew that Lyssa was quite shy, and maybe even lonely. Genevieve knew that she hated being alone herself, so why should Lyssa be alone? Slowly, she approached her, not wanting to startle the shy girl. "Hey," she said with a smile. "Excited for the tournament? I was so thrilled I could barely sleep! And well, the party didn't help either," she added with a laugh. "I hope we didn't keep you up," she said, while pulling up a chair. Genevieve could talk the hind leg off a mule, with her chattiness and outgoing personality. "What kind of tasks do you think there'll be?" she mused. "I'm sure they won't be too dangerous!" she added. "They couldn't be..." Her innocence caused her to be blind to the cruelties of the world and the dark hearts of others. She quickly realized she had never introduced herself, and said,"Oh, and I'm Genevieve, Genevieve Hawkins. I already know your name, obviously. Everyone does now!" she added with a beam.

Hunter had left his hand on top of his book after he'd closed it. He was always very possessive with his books; he'd seen slacker students run around with ink bottles and destroying books before. It'd happened to him once, in his third year, actually. Hunter had used a spell he'd just read about to tie the guy's shoelaces together, and needless to say, the student never did it again after he got a broken nose falling flat on his face.

So when the book shot out from under his hand, Hunter immediately grabbed his wand, only to turn to see a smirking boy with the book harmlessly in hand. It took Hunter a moment to place the guy as he set his wand down; he knew that he was in his year, since he'd had classes with him before, but he- Roderick, Hunter recalled -was one of those students who was good at what he did but sort of melted into the background. Of course, Hunter had never really been able to melt into the shadows with as involved in things as he was, but he wasn't really Mr. Popular either.
"No need for the directions; you're looking at a proud Hufflepuff, here. But since you seem to hold some sort of interest in my book-" he glanced at Roderick's hand, "-maybe you should go there yourself." Hunter smiled back before the guy could assume he was being mean, dropping his fork and offering his hand. "I'm Hunter West, by the way, but after last night you probably already know my name. You're Roderick, right?" he asked, even though he knew that the answer would be yes.

Hunter had been about to just go back to his food and wait for the guy to get bored and give him his book back before he'd introduced himself and offered his hand and everything, but then it occurred to him that that might be the reason why he was so terrible at actually making friends. It wasn't like people didn't try; he just never tried back... and since he had been named a contestant in the Tournament, he figured he should probably get to know at least the other students who were going to be involved.

VALKYRIE NOX
ᴛʜᴇ ʀᴇsᴏᴜʀᴄᴇғᴜʟ ʀᴀᴠᴇɴᴄʟᴀᴡ
━━━━━━━━━━━━
17 female contestant
great hall, slytherin table xander, aj, slytherins
━━━━━━━━━━━━

Valkyrie had, at this point, finished eating her food. Funny though, her plate still seemed to be piled high with the stuff. The young woman never seemed to eat much, picking at her food and garnering her the nickname of 'birdie' by her younger siblings. She smiled fondly, closing her dark doe-like eyes as she thought back to her family home and younger brothers. It had been a while since she'd seen them, and though she'd love if they could have the same experiences as she, she was afraid that they would also be bullied as she had. Being a muggle-born witch wasn't easy, and now that she'd been announced a contestant? Lordy, she could just imagine the sneering and glares she would garner. Funnily enough, she wasn't at all worried about Hunter, the elder of the twin boys. He was a spitfire and had always been there to protect little Brycen. But the younger, well, Brycen much preferred his books and trinkets, and the young boy was thin and wiry, much like herself. She could just picture him getting shoved around by others simply for being born a muggle, and the thought of it made her stomach clench painfully.

Squaring her shoulders and shaking the dark thoughts from her mind, Kyrie took the moment to glance up, her eyes landing directly upon the face of the companion that had been assigned to her. Ashton Jake Rowan. God, why did it have to be him? Sure, if she'd had to pick anyone to be the Ravenclaw competitor, it would have been Ashton. The boy was disliked by many of their house-mates, and she often wondered why he wasn't thrown into Slytherin instead. Lord knew he was as cliche as the rest of them. Even though he too was muggle-born, AJ was easily accepted into the Slytherin group. He'd been siting with the house since the first day after being sorted into their houses. The sorting hat had taken a full five minutes to place the guy, and it'd come as a shock to see him sitting with the bloody Slytherthin table the next night.

"Darned dezertor; of course I had to be paired with 'em." The roman's accent had made a spot-light appearance with her words, something that only seemed to happen now-a-days when she was extremely irritated. She would have gone to the wizarding school in her home country, but her parents had moved to Europe for her tată's work, and Valkyrie'd had no other choice than to travel with them. Of course, by the time they'd been settled in their new home for six months, Kyrie had turned eleven and learned of her magical abilities. Since they now lived in Europe, she'd been granted admission to Hogwarts, and had been there ever since. Glowering as she pushed her hair over her shoulder and stood, the girl couldn't help but feel the hair on the back of her neck stand up. Eventually, she would have to have contact with AJ, and since they were in the same room now she figured she'd better quit with the musing and daydreaming, and get it on with.

"I just know I'll regret it, though." She murmured as she made her way to the Slytherin table. Ah, yes, and there came the regret. The sound of Xander's voice sent chills down her back. "So, who's your contestant?" His words were nice enough, but she had a feeling they'd turn different when he knew that it was she. The muggle-born Ravenclaw with the brains, but so very little brawn. Or so they thought. Kyrie didn't generally use her magic outside of the class-room, and she fully believed it should be used only when necessary. Therefor, no one had ever really seen what she could do. She didn't like to brag on herself, but she had to admit she was a resourceful girl. Her reaction time was quick and she excelled in her Defense Against the Dark Arts class.

Moving closer she could already see the looks of contempt she was gaining from most of the first-year group of Slytherins. Rolling those dark eyes, framed elegantly by thick, black lashes that matched her flowed down in waves to her slim, pale shoulders, she figured she might as well be the one to answer the boy. "That," she muttered, mustering up as much confidence as she possibly could, "would be me."

[translations; dezertor - deserter, traitor. tată - father]

BECKETT DRAKE
ᴛʜᴇ ᴄᴜɴɴɪɴɢ sʟʏᴛʜᴇʀɪɴ
━━━━━━━━━━━━
17 male companion
great hall, slytherin table aj, xander, valkyrie, slytherins
━━━━━━━━━━━━

Beckett Drake was yawning as he sauntered into the Great Hall, black school-robes draped over the crook of his elbow. Currently the five foot eleven pureblood was sporting a pinstripe white button up shirt, along with comfortable black slacks and a matching tie. It was his usual attire, and he had to admit that he pulled it off well. That 'I don't give a damn about you or your rules' look the bad-boy generally sported. He rarely wore his robes to classes, but kept them with him just in case a professor were to get onto him about it. Running a hand through his boyishly tousled copper-brown hair, he meandered over to the Slytherin table only to pause momentarily as he witnessed his best friend sizing up little miss Phoenix Brookstone. Rolling his light green eyes at his best friends attentions, the Slytherin companion plopped himself down at his usual seat along the Slytherin table and on the right side of Xander.

He and Xander had been friends for a long while, and though Beckett held a lot of prejudice against those that weren't purebloods, he had to admit that Xander made up for it with his skills and prowess. When his friend had been chosen as a contestant, Beckett had honestly been ecstatic. When he himself had been chosen as a companion, the boy had figured he'd be paired with his best friend, but that hadn't been the case. And that, he had to admit, was something that made him grind his teeth in frustration. They made an excellent team, and he was sure they would have dominated the tournament if they'd been together. Still, it seemed that the theme of things was to pair opposite genders together.

Scooping food into his mouth, Beckett had just opened his mouth to make small talk with his friend when he was interrupted. Green eyes narrowing in anger, they locked onto the newcomers face. Ahh, the girl was yet another Ravenclaw. Already they had AJ sitting with them, and while Beckett had gotten used to the guy, and even considered him a friend of sorts, he didn't think he could deal with a chick and especially not one as pathetically useless as Valkyrie Nox. The girl was from Romania, of all places, and muggle-born. Now, while AJ too was muggle-born, Beck had no real problem with him, for he acted like a straight-up Slytherin and that was something Beckett Drake had come to respect. But Valkyrie Nox? Well, the girl wasn't someone he wanted to mingle with, and so instead of cutting the girl off for so rudely interrupting what he'd been about to say, the seventeen year old turned back to his food in silence.

She had just taken a bite of the apple she had been eyeing when Tyler had come up.
The other contestant of Gryffindor had hugged her in a friendly way and asked her
how she was. She swallowed the juicy bite of apple before answering; "Good, the
competition should be great."
She smiled, they were team mates in a way, if she
didn't win she would like him to. She had a lot of confidence in her skills and wouldn't
have been surprised if she won. She focused for a second and turned back to her usual
golden haired, brown eyed girl she usually was.

Chelsea, the proud girl had been chosen as a companion, as Tyler's companion. She
smiled at the girl when she approached but didn't go any further than a simple, "Okay,
there is a lot of people talking about the competition and us and it should be good."

She moved over so that there was room for Chelsea to sit next to her with Tyler on her
other side she decided to keep an eye out for her companion, Noah.

He laughed when Phoenix told Xander that he smelt like wet dog. "And what do I smell like?"
He asked winking at her and wasn't surprised when she however ignored him and pushed in
between himself and Xander. There was a few Slytherins' other than first years that didn't
accept him sitting on there table, Miss Phoenix Brookstone was one of them. Xander stood up,
moved over and sat next to him again and asked who his contestant was. He opened his
mouth to answer when a voice cut through, Valkyrie Nox 'his contestant'. Beckett, another
Slytherin walked over and sat on the other side of Xander, they accepted each other and at
most could consider each other friends but only because of Xander.

He stood up and put his arm around Valkyrie's shoulder seeing that daggers in many Slytherins'
eyes shot at her. "Sorry boys, Brookstone, team meeting." He turned around leading
Valkyrie back to the Ravenclaw table. Looking over her shoulder so she couldn't see he
mouthed I'll be back to Xander.
