That akward moment when you give your friend a fish saying its a guppy, and it turns out to be a completely different kind of fish. :/ Sorry about that, True! Keep in mind Musquito fish CAN and USUALLY WILL crossbreed with guppies. If you get others, dont be suprised if they dont stop chasing each other around the tank, it is their way to enforce dominence. You can care for them almost the same as guppies, because I have gotten away with that. Best of luck!

XxStarDaGalxX: Actually, it looks like his fins are regrowing. It is hard to tell from the pic, though. Keep a close eye on him. If his fins do begin to receed, however, treat him with clean water and a little aquarium salt. :)
I'll fix this later.

If you're going through a tough time, I want you to know that you can always PM me. Even if you just want to rant to me, I'm here.

It's fine, wolfy. Just need to do a little research is all. XD It's fine. I'll be getting them a nice big tank soon enough. He is for the most part leaving Violet and Angie (the two girls with him) alone, so... Yeah. She be fine. I'll be sure to do my best. Thank you!

What kind of fish is this? My dumb brother went to the fair and ignored my warning and instead deliberately got a fish. This was 2 months ago. Then, the fish was about a inch long. Now it's much bigger! Almost 2 1/2 inches! I don't know what kind of fish it is, and if it is going to out grow my tank I need to take it somewhere that would be more ideal for it to live. I'm frankly surprised it is alive still, most Carni fish don't live very long. xP

-This is NOT my image but FOR SURE the kind of fish I have. Same colour and everything

PRETTY dang sure that's a goldfish. xD
Looks like a goldfish.
And most fair fish are goldfish.
You might want to find someone with a pond to give him to... or invest in a 30+ gallon tank(I believe that's the right size, someone correct me if I'm wrong).
Common goldfish grow to be larger than 8 inches unless they are stunted(which is a slow, painful death).

But if you aren't sure what kind of fish it is, you should probably post a picture of your actual fish. ^^

The only gold fish I've seen are like round and plump. xD So I didn't think it was a gold fish.
And that is the kind of fish it is, I don't have a camera or any way to get a photo of my fish in real life though or else I would have ;n;

it is a plain old common goldfish(often sold as "feeder" goldfish.

What kind of fish is this little one? His name is Carmel:
https://scontent-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos ... 3537_n.jpg

Once again, sorry for the quality. My camera hates me. We will be fixing the better one soon.

Carmel is an adult male Mosquito fish. He is a nice sized boy too :D. If you don't have any female mosquito fish(its hard to tell them apart from dull female guppies) he will be fine with other guppies, just make sure you don't keep him with fish with excessively long fins like some bettas and guppies, normal guppies should be able to handle a single male Mosquito fish(female guppies can be mean lil buggers when it comes to that lol).

Alright, thank you so much. He is about an inch long. Yeah, he is the only one I have. XD I have fancy guppies. Can I keep him with some girls? Yes they can, lol.

as long as he is not trying to eat them they should be fine. my grandma had a tank with five guppies(one male and four females) and a pair of mosquito fish(the male was a rare "Dalmatian" mosquito fish, meaning he was black and white) and they left each other alone. when the female died of old age she got a new one that killed all of her guppies in about 24 hours...they can be touch and go kinds of fish.

The one in the picture is a comet goldfish. They look similar to commons but have longer tails.
I would do what Dia said and donate him to a pond because they are pond fish. They can eaisly reach a foot long and need 55 gallons for ONE.
If you do decide to get a 55 gal you need a filter that is double the tank size(so a filter rated for a 110 gallon) and with a GPH of 10x the size of the tank(so a GPH of 550).

How many gallons do you have him in now?

Thanks for correcting what I said. xD I was hoping you'd come in here and take over lol

My albino cory is just fine. ^^ I know I posted a while back saying he was hanging out upside down and not looking too hot. I fed them, gave some peas, and did a water change and he got back to normal. :3
The betta in that tank is fat and lazy, but I can't starve the cories... xD
My betta in the five gallon is doing very well. His fins are getting longer and he's still a cool dark green color.
