I don't have much experience with goldfish (they disgust me a bit) but you shouldn't put her in with Kappa. Since goldfish will eat anything that can fit in their mouth, meaning Kappa could eat Karpa. However on a better note you can buy feeding blocks that will feed fish when your away. I have feeding blocks that work for Lily, and even though their betta blocks they work fine for my tetras and cory.
Anyhow, Penny the cory is very happy in his tank. Second day home

above_all_else wrote:I'm freaking out. I have to go down to my grandmother's house tonight, and I won't be back home until Wednesday afternoon. I hate leaving for so long when Karpa (Girly Fishie) is so new in her QT! I've only had her for two days! Thankfully her salt is at the right level, .3%, and her filter should be cycled in a few days, as I jump started it(I knew I'd have to go, just not so soon). None of my fish will be able to get fed again until Monday afternoon when my siblings are brought home. I, however, have to stay and work!!! I wouldn't go down, but it's my big bro's graduation party tomorrow and then I have to work, and my parents are also leaving tomorrow for my great grandmother's funeral. So, I'm strapped for options. What can I do to keep her from DYING while I'm away? I'm not even sure she has enough surface disturbance to live safely. Would it be better if I just... Put her in with Kappa? I really don't want to. She's too small and probably pretty sick. I'm really freaking out. What can I do?
Please help ASAP. Need to leave in ~2 hours
EDIT- Karpa is a tiny calico fantail goldfish I purchased from a terrible source. She is no more than 1" long. Kappa is my other gf, who resides in a 29g tank. Karpa is currently in a 10g qt tub with a small filter and a bubbler.
I would give her a feeding block and do a water change, goldfish are tough lil buggers.

Yeah, I didn't end up putting Karpa and Kappa together, not just because he could eat her, but because she might make him sick as well. I didn't have any cubes(I've already left), but I fed them plenty of pellets and my father will feed them algae wafers tomorrow morning and Sunday evening. Mon, Tues my brother should be able to feed them. I'm only really worried about the water changes.
Do you enjoy having cories, BluHeart? I have three of them, and I can't imagine my tank without them.
@McGyver- I have a betta that looks like that! His name is Pascal.

That's him in his side of the 10g.
@herpluvin I did a wc this morning of ~60% and she will be well fed. I'm... less freaking out now. I've kinda accepted that what's gonna happen is gonna happen... And I'm almost positive that they'll be fine.

here are some pictures of my two bettas right now. Please excuse the tiny tank but it is the only tank that is cat proof and not full of small cichlids and mosquito fish(not good for a bettas health). I plan to move them into a divided 15-20 gallon when I get the room and such. They are just fine for the week or so they have to live in the tank. The male I found at a pet store while buying some feeder fish for our Oscar. The poor guy was in a 2 inch Goldfish bowl looking thingy...he was literally curled into a ball and stuck there, they gave him to me half price because he was not eating(and I wonder why), anyways I got him home, put him in a larger tank, and dumped a ton of food in there(he was skin and bones so he needed some food). After a week he was not only fat and healthy, but flaring at the other female and male bettas with great vigor(I later bred him but lost the clutch to leech looking worms...)

And my older female, she is a purple copper crowntail(a stunning find from a petsmart)

My boy is a goof ball and I managed to get this great picture of him lol.

I feel your pain! A few weeks ago I FINALLY found another HM that looked nearly identical to my favorite boy who'd passed away some years back. But I had nowhere to put him. DX
This was Count ManzeppiI stopped by two pet stores before finally giving up and buying DHG at petsmart. Nobody else had dhg, microswords, or anything I was interested in. So, hopefully the grass does okay. Dang, that stuff is hard to plant - even in sand!

I saw this plated tank in a pet store that had a planted tank with about six dwarf gouramis and a HUGE black dragon scale plakat betta. To show for size the biggest gourami was four inches long, the betta was about half an inch long...I would have bought him but he was reserved already.
Black dragon scale bettas(black bettas with white dragon scale) are my all time favorite but I can never find a cheap enough one at the right time lol.

@MacGyver - I also got my DHG from petsmart and I'm glad its not just me that found it hard to plant. Its a thick block almost, but it floats, so its almost impossible to anchor it. But as of right now its green and seems to be flourishing, so time will tell. Ill post pictures in a few days as I'm on mobile right now.

We can keep each other updated on our DHG's progress. >u< I seperated mine into clumps, but I'm debating whether or not it would grow and carpet better if I planted sprigs of about a half a dozen each, maybe an inch apart from each other...
