Silvermist shrugged. "I stand by my decision." She said firmly, unsheathing her claws. "I was the one who first scented it, but does it mean it was me? You all know perfectly well that I slept in my nest, so I'm off the list." She eyed the other cats suspiciously with a slight scowl.

[Brûlée]

"You're the only one of us eligible to be deputy!! The only other person with a motive would be Shadefeather, but I doubt it. And if you can use sleeping as an excuse, goodness knows I can!" She scoffed at the warrior. "Haven't you heard of the phrase 'respect your elders'?"

[gallifrey falls.]

Jadefeather quietly said, "I believe someone of lower rank may have been able to do such a thing. If Cinderstar wasn't expecting it, they may have been able to overpower her. I vote Larkpaw." At Silvermist's hostility, she lay her tail on the she-cats shoulder. "Peace, Silvermist. Growning angry will help no cat."
At Icesplash's words, Jadefeather spoke to her next. "I do not think Silvermist meant any disrespect with her words. This is a troubled time for the whole Clan."

Silvermist scowled. "How am I supposed to respect you if you're the murderer? Do you want me to bring fresh bedding and prey to the killer of our leader?! Besides, have I ever seemed ambitious to you? Have I ever dreamed about becoming leader someday when I brought you fresh kill as an apprentice? Besides, if I were the murderer, then I would probably kill Shadefeather instead." She curled her lip into a snarl, calming down slightly as Jadefeather laid her tail on her shoulder.

Troutkit's eyes betrayed his sadness. "Aw, ok then. I'll be sure to make her proud if she's watching me." he smiled. "Silvermist is b-being really mean, and I don't want mean cats i-in the clan. M-mean cats do mean things, and murdering Cinderstar was a mean thing, so that means that Silvermist d-did it." Troutkit announced. He huddled up to Icesplash and whispered, "D-don't worry. I'll protect you because it's not a mean th-thing, and Cinderstar would be sad if I did a mean thing. But, does that mean she's s-sad at Silvermist then?" he asked Icesplash quietly.

Silvermist shrugged, drawing back. "Sure! Vote for me- you'll take it back when you chase an innocent cat out of your clan and your left with the real murderer. I'm trying to tell you guys that I'm innocent, but will you listen? No." She said rather calmly.
