She slowed when she felt yet another buzz, but kept glancing up at Jake as she texted: Oh, yea, it's my favorite. Sure. What were you thinking of doing? Her message was serious and bland, as usual. She continued to run toward Jake, catching up and jutting her foot out to get the ball. Or trip him. Whichever.

Raven picked up her phone. This texting business was hard. There's a circus in town. We'll go to that. Do you have a car? She pushed her hair away from her eyes, blinking down at her phone as the wind blew hard. She was about to put her phone back when she heard the bell ring from inside the school. She walked back to the locker room, changing out of her slightly sweaty clothes. She bit her tongue, annoyed at all of the other girls yapping and giggling, pushing her way out the door and to science.
