What is wrong? Help? I do water changes like a should and there is no sharp anything in his tank. Just some silk plants.

Is he a dragon scale betta? I know that sometimes their scales will grow over thier eyes causing blindness. Pics would be a big help.

Pictures of Dragon Scale Bettas? I don't believe so. Also he's having trouble eating, I've tried about 10 different fish foods (from blood worms to sinking pellets, flakes, everything that they have) and he isn't taking interest in any of it, so he's also a bit skinny. D: I don't over feed him or anything either

A topic for aquarium people - yay! :D Glad I found you.

I've had a fish tank for a little over two months. It's about 10 gallons, cycled, well planted with an all natural look. It has an Eheim AquaBall filter and an air stone that's mostly on during hotter weather.

Who lives there? The very first guy to move in was a purple apple snail, who by now has grown almost to the size of a ping-pong ball! Then there are five male guppies: red-blue (Aramis), black (Athos), blue (Captain de Treville), green based snakeskin (D'Artagnan), plus the newest gupster I got today (so far nameless). I had a gorgeous yellow guppy (Porthos), who unfortunately committed suicide by jumping out of the tank during the night :( This happened before I got my new hood finished - he found a small gap between the wall and lid and went for it...

And yes, all my fished are named after The Three Musketeers characters :)

It sounds like he had Swim Bladder Disease. I'm so, so, sorry for your loss.

When he goes up for a breath, he hits the surface really hard, like he can't tell where it is. He seems to be eating okay and everything, but his eye seems to have glazed over with a milky white pupal. His right eye isn't as milky, but it is still a little glazed over. What do you guys think? Does it sound like he might be blind in one eye?

he is at least blind in one eye, if not both. don't worry about this just keep him away from other fish and avoid rough or sharp object as he may run into it. I have owned many blind or eyeless fish before so I know from experience.

@Check the PO Box
he may have bloat. I forget how to get rid of it...I think the inside of a pea or something like that XD.

For the bloat, yeah, that's what I've always heard was the best way to treat bloat. Get a frozen pea, boil it, and then remove the shell, cut it in half. Just give him a bit. It's probably best to skip a day of feeding, too. I've read in many fish forums to skip feeding one day a week to help the bettas stay regular.

Also, I saw the prettiest veiltail at work yesterday. He's white with a pink hue to his body (kind of pearlescent) and then his fins are tinged pink and I swear, if I didn't already have my gorgeous boy at home, or had a second tank set up, I'd most definitely have gotten him.

my current male is like that but he is more pink in the body and have green and red fins. I will post a picture of him later XD

@Herp, I want to see too! Sounds beautiful <3

Shrewfrost wrote:Do it! I really want to post up anther picture of my betta that I rescued back in March. His body has darkened up a tiny bit since I first got him. He might have just been pale though because of stress and injury though. Maybe once he's finally moved over to the ten gallon tank and all settled in, I will.

That reminds me, I'm considering live plants for his tank, rather than the fake plants (I've ensured that they aren't going to damage my fish's fins) and I'm wondering which would be easiest to maintain, while also being a kind that betta fish like. It'd be for his ten gallon tank.

Peach (my first betta and the one I mentioned) Apologies for pic size ouo"

Easy plants (my betta have no preference for plant types, but Peach enjoyed lying on the leaves of my dwarf anubias from time to time):
Anubias
Dwarf Anubias
Java fern
Water wisteria
Anacharis (narrow-leaf anacharis grows better for me)
Java moss
Caroliniana bacopa (there are some varieties that need higher lighting *I think* - but most bacopa are easy growers)
Amazon Sword (are pretty easy, but they're heavy root feeders, meaning you'll need to provide it with root tabs or, if you're up for it, do over your tank as a natural planted tank. [I used the Walstad method].)

Those are some plants I've had experience with, but I know there are tons more out there. What sort of lighting (kelvin #? Wattage?) and substrate do you have?

I'm freaking out. I have to go down to my grandmother's house tonight, and I won't be back home until Wednesday afternoon. I hate leaving for so long when Karpa (Girly Fishie) is so new in her QT! I've only had her for two days! Thankfully her salt is at the right level, .3%, and her filter should be cycled in a few days, as I jump started it(I knew I'd have to go, just not so soon). None of my fish will be able to get fed again until Monday afternoon when my siblings are brought home. I, however, have to stay and work!!! I wouldn't go down, but it's my big bro's graduation party tomorrow and then I have to work, and my parents are also leaving tomorrow for my great grandmother's funeral. So, I'm strapped for options. What can I do to keep her from DYING while I'm away? I'm not even sure she has enough surface disturbance to live safely. Would it be better if I just... Put her in with Kappa? I really don't want to. She's too small and probably pretty sick. I'm really freaking out. What can I do?

Please help ASAP. Need to leave in ~2 hours

EDIT- Karpa is a tiny calico fantail goldfish I purchased from a terrible source. She is no more than 1" long. Kappa is my other gf, who resides in a 29g tank. Karpa is currently in a 10g qt tub with a small filter and a bubbler.
