I ate the food happily, full and content. "Well, what do I do now?" I asked Duke, not sure what to do.
"Well, it is a nice day, and tour of the town wouldn't hurt." Duke answered, letting his brown eyes peer outside. The cost came in and he paid for it. "Ready?"
"Ready as I'll ever be..." I answered, standing up and starting to walk towards the door.
Duke stayed and talked a bit to a friend and came out after me, hoping in the truck and starting the car. "So, wanna drive or ride horse back?" He asked me, hoping for a good answer.
"Horseback. These truck seats hurts compared to the saddle." I sighed, rolling my eyes a bit.
We got back to the station and another radio call came in.
"Dad? Ya there? Got some questions for you. Meet ya at the back stables. Over and Out." I looked at the radio. That didn't sound like a registered cop. More like a kid, maybe a teen just like me. Then again, radios did mess up how you talk sometimes.
"Well, let's not keep him waiting." Mr. Dartsity said, unlocking the doors and getting out.
I followed along, off to the back with him.
"Stay here, I'm call you over when you're needed." Duke nodded.
I nodded back and watched. Duke and another person talked in the barn. I could hear a faint voice and then saw Duke motioning me over. I quickly picked up a jog, then slowed down to walk into a the barn. I was shocked by what, or should I say, who, I saw. A teen. A boy teen. I looked on, my mind a little blank.
"Hi, I'm Ryce." He smiled, shaking my hand. "Not the food. I spell it with a y." He smiled at me. He was charming I must admit, but I highly doubted he was single. Besides, the guys had Holly, and I didn't want to loose her. Alaya would be so upset.
"I'm Teresa, but I go by Tess." I smiled back at him. How exciting. New friends. I looked on a little, mainly waiting for Duke. I never spoke to people unless I had to, so I didn't have many friends.
"Ryce, why don't ya take our guest here on a tour of the town? It'll be good for her. Let her get familiar with it." The sherrif smiled at his son before turning around. "I got to get going, so enjoy yourselves. Avoid trouble!" He called the last part back at us as he went to the front of the station again.
I watched him leave when Ryce spoke up. "Hey, why don't I show you around in the barn first? You'll like it, I'm sure." He said.
I followed him, down the aisle and into the hayloft. "Most of our hay and feed is up here. Occasionally, a stray at comes up here and we give them some food sometimes." As he spoke, a sweet little black kitten came out of behind some hay, purring. I petted the kitten, happy to do so. I followed Ryce back down, out of the loft.
"Here are some of the horses; Gypsy, Indian, Shadow, Rodeo, Ginger, Cocoa, and Anaconda..." Ryce paused, looking at Cole and Snowflake. "Those are new..." He said.
"They are mine." I smiled softly. I looked at each horse he mentioned. Gypsy was a wonderful flaxen chestnut morgan mare with two back stockings that went right up under her hocks and stopped. She also had an irregular blaze you could call it. Oddly enough, she was walled eyes. A right blue eyes with a left brown eye. I went to the next horse. Indian. He was a wonderful looking golden palomino morgan gelding. For some reason, he looked like Gypsy a little bit, just by how he had that same spark of fun in his eyes. He also had two white front pasterns with a stripe. Shadow was most likely the easiest to describe; a solid black thoroughbred stallion. Rodeo was also a flaxen chestnut, but she had two back stockings, a front right pastern, and a stripe on her face, too. The Polish Arabian mare had to be over 25. A much younger horse was next to her. A bay overo paint mare was contently standing and munching, it had to be Ginger. Cocoa was a leopard chestnut appaloosa gelding, and young by the looks of it. Finally, there was Anaconda. He was a black few spot leopard stallion. The young thoroughbred looked to be the youngest.
As I marveled on, I missed the question Ryce asked. "What?" I zoned back into reality. "What are your horses named?" He asked me.
"Oh. The white mare is Snowflake, and the black stallion is Cole. Both are thoroughbreds." I said to him.
"Why don't we get some horses to ride with around the town? It's allowed, ya know." He smiled softly at me. I couldn't deny this. It wouldn't be nice.

Our baby is here now, so I am super busy and occupied
by his shenanigans <3 Wouldn’t trade any of it.
Unfortunately, that does mean I am at a standstill on
