Curio Batch 1

Postby Guest » Sat Jun 14, 2014 10:36 pm

Egg #1 is a pair of lime green eggs that emit a putrid sulfur smell. I was reluctant to even put this egg up for adoption.. Almost smashed it, but it moved in protest. Made me feel bad, so here it is.

If you want to win this one, you'll need to write a short story about where it was found.
    Ends June 20th.

Egg #2 is a weirdly mutated egg in the shape of a heart. It's covered in hard, iridescent blue scales, and lopsidedly rolls away when anyone gets near it.

If you want this egg, you'll have to offer C$. Highest amount offered by June 16th wins.

    Owned by Commander Shepard.

Egg #3 was found under a purple tree with black bark. I wasn't sure what to make of that, and likewise, I'm not sure what to make of this egg. It gives off a calming aura, though I advise you to be weary. It's always the worst monsters that make you calm.

If you want this egg, you'll have to offer pets. Highest offer by June 17th wins.
    Owned by Wind Song.

Current highest offer for Egg #2: 58C$

Egg #1
The following is a journal recovered from the ashes of the house of one of the, as we call, "Jingle investigators".  This was a secret group of people who looked into the man who went under the alias, "Nick Jingle" under the eyes of the government.  The public was never informed about this until the recovery of the journal.  Large portions couldn't be recovered because of the fire and three years of hard work lead to the translation of this.

"Prologue
Found on the cover of the first page.

You don't know who I am; you don't need to.  Just know that I'm a victim of the Jingle project.  No, not a part of it; a victim.  I never wanted this burden.  I never wanted this.  I wanted kids; I wanted a family.  God I was so stupid; I shouldn't have gone down there. I shouldn't have gone in Jingle's lab.  Why did I do this?  Why.  Why.  This is my fault.  Why.  Why... Why..  The page from that point is only covered with the word "why" over and over again.

Day 1

Hello to whichever superior of mine receives this journal.  I'm honored that you selected me to lead this team.  I know, I know I shouldn't be sucking up; my apologies.  We start investigations on Project Jingle officially tomorrow.  We made a major breakthrough; we found what we believe to be the entrance to Jingle's lab... We don't know what we're going to find; I know this man was infatuated with experimenting with animals but that's all.  His lab appears to be a complex maze of sewer pipes and it smells heavy of sulfur, of all things.  What could sulfur be linked to?  There's a lot of nuclear waste down there too so we have to wear heavy equipment.  Gas masks and all.  Some of us are too nervous to sleep, I can hear restless shifting in cots.  How can you blame them?  Who knows what this man hid down there.

Day 2

It was dark down there...  Well, the luminous nuclear waste did help with the lighting but it was still dark enough to feel unsettling.

There was a putrid stench down there too; even though my gas mask filtered most of the fatal gasses such as carbon monoxide, I could still smell it.  The strongest of them all; sulfur.  What was this idiot doing with so much sulfur around?  You could see it too; large or small, yellow chunks of it were strewn about at random.

That was as far as we could get, when my crew and I finally reached what appeared to be the lab; we hit a road block.  There was some huge chunk of a strange mineral blocking the path.  It was very dark so we couldn't see what the substance was; nor could we touch it in fear it'd burn right through our protective gear.  So with that; we packed up and headed out.  It was odd through; as we were leaving I had the odd feeling that something was down there... watching... mocking us...

Day 5

There's definitely something down there... I don't know; we're yet to figure it out but I'm not the only one that's been hearing things.  There's rumor around the workers that it's Nick Jingle's ghost but that can't be true, we all know he survived his lab explosion.  What did such a strange man leave behind?  It's all a blur, some of us are even too scared to go back down to investigate other entrances into the lab until the demolition team gets on the site.  To be honest; I don't feel threatened by this unknown creature, hell, for all I know the whole team is just trying to scare me.  I've never seen it, none of us have.  The real creepy thing is the blocked off entrance to the lab...  Nothing works down there; there's absolutely no light source that we can bring in, the darkness seems to consume everything.  Nothing can break through it.  We can't even tell what's blocking the lab.

Day 7

We heard from one of our leaders that the demolition team is supposed to arrive tomorrow morning, but that's not why I'm writing.  There's without a doubt something unnatural about the lighting down by the lab.  We brought some of our more advanced equipment down to see if there was any detectable traces of nuclear radiation and sure enough, we found that the whole area was covered in toxic waste.  There was so much that we were skeptic to belief that we hadn't had any casualties yet.  The strangest part about this was that the waste should have been glowing but... there was no signs of light anywhere.  There's... something going on here but I can't put my finger on it.  Maybe when we delve into the lab we'll get some questions answered... but what's bugging me the most is that this doesn't seem to be bothering anyone and no one else is complaining about similar experiences.  They all looked at me like I was crazy when I ordered that we investigate the darkness as if it was completely normal for an area with radioactive materials was pitch black.

Day 8

Finally; the demolition team arrived this morning.  They wasted no time getting set up down in down in the slums, that's we workers have come to call the entrance to the lab.  Remember how I said there was something unusual about the unnatural lighting?  Yeah; that lead to the demise of one of our workers.  Some idiot wasn't paying attention and got in the blast radius of the explosives.  We couldn't find any trace of him; no blood, no bones, nothing.  It was like he just vanished.  No one knew the worker's name or anything, he's just... gone.  That's all I can describe it as.

Anyway; it took three tries but the demolition team finally broke through and made an entrance to the actual lab.  Believe it or not;  there was nothing there.  Just some rubble and traces of equipment and lots of sulfur everywhere.  I'm dissappointed, there has to be some trace of Jingle.  The team and I searched the area for two hours with no luck but I can't surpress the feeling that something is down there.  Whether it's alive or not; something is in that lab overviewing our progress.  The team is packing up and we're leaving in a week but I'm going to get to the bottom of it; whether I'm alone or not.

Day 10

Wow.  I knew there was something down there.  Do I have quite the story... where do I even start off?  OK, so first off, you know how I said the "lab" was blocked off by an unknown mass?  Well that mass isn't as unknown anymore, the crew and I decided to take a risk and bring a chunk of it to a well lit area and you won't believe what it was.  Sulfur.  A whole chunk of sulfur.  A whole chunk of sulfur deterred our mission for a solid eight days.

After the crew all went to sleep, I had this strange urge...  I needed to go back down. I needed to explore the lab again.  It was as if it was dragging me back down to it... As if something wanted me there.  I complied with the strange force and I was drawn into the lab. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. The whole lab was enormous and incredily advanced. There was equipment in there that I had never even heard of before. I'm not going to lie, I felt like a child in a toy store, searching around and experimenting with unknown toys. That is until I stumbled upon the beast's layer. This thing was
---

The rest of the journal was too far charred for our investigators to recover. The only left over evidence from the Jingle Project was the egg of the said "beast". Egg has been properly placed in a foster home waiting an adopter.

Hey guys. I really want to post another batch to run while I'm on vacation [leaving on the 22nd], so I'm going to go ahead and end the two for currency.
The writing one will continue to go until it's original end date, the 20th. (:
Sorry, I thought we were leaving a lot later [the 26th] so I thought I'd have more time to run everything. Turns out I definitely don't, haha.

Uneasily you touch your egg for the first time, and whisper what you wish to tell it.

"Well... I have to admit, I don't really know what to expect of you. But I mean... you look like a heart, I'm sure... even if you're scary looking, you spit poison or fire or what have you... I like to think you'll be a good soul, over all-- not even exactly gentle, but merciful over wrath, you know? And you'll have to tell me when we meet-- I wouldn't feel right calling you a girl or boy or whatever else without knowing how you feel about it! I'm sure we'll get along great though, and perhaps I'll have to have you meet some of my other companions, I'd love it if you could befriend even one of them! I'm curious to see what you do, too... will you be magical? Or just a wonder of the natural world... I'll love it either way, though, I can promise you that!"

It twitches in response, having heard you and felt you.

... here's hoping I did that right |D
