The year is 2018, exactly twenty years after the Second Wizarding War, also known as the Battle of Hogwarts. The last reconstructions and renovations have just been completed at Hogwarts and the administration has decided that it is the perfect time to celebrate both the twenty year victory and the building's completion. In light of this, they have planned a different kind of House Cup this year - not based on points, but rather on skills. A mash up of the regular House Cup and the Triwizard Tournament, if you will.

The House Tournament will consist of three main tasks for which points will be awarded. Each house will participate with two contestants - one male and female - who will at times be required to work together and other times against each other. They will also be paired with another student from their house, who will help them throughout the tournament with brainstorming, strategizing and a sort of mentorship or friendship. The House Tournament will also force competitors from different houses to work together.

This is where the tournament will get interesting. Though the four Hogwarts houses have become closer since the end of the Battle of Hogwarts, some prejudices and walls still remain. Some of these tasks are dangerous - both physically and mentally. Will these students be willing to put them aside in order to help each other survive and for a chance to win the House Cup? Or will they cling to their old mindsets and refuse to work together?

• Tess' rules always apply - please read them here if you are not familiar with them.
• Also, please make sure to respect all of the roleplayers here.

literacy & activity
• This is a high semi-literate roleplay. I expect at least two paragraphs of about 6 - 10 lines each or anything equivalent to that. Writer's block is understandable, but there should still be between 4 - 8 lines in your two paragraphs. Anything posted out of character should be in some form of brackets: {{ [[ (( )) ]] }}. If possible, please refrain from using these and use the discussion thread instead.
• Please be active at least 2 - 3 times a week. I find it important to keep the roleplay going in order to keep people interested.

characters
• All reservations and forms should be PMed to me before being posted on this page. If you do not do so it will be evident that you did not read the rules and I will not accept you into the roleplay.
• Players are required to roleplay two characters. You may not, however, play 1) two tournament contestants or, 2) two characters in the same house or, 3) two characters of the same gender. Your characters also cannot have crushes on each other or be in a relationship. They may, however, be siblings (which is rare, as most siblings are placed in the same house).
• This leads me to character creation. Please make sure your characters are not mary-sues or gary-sues, but at the same time do not make them perfect. Every witch or wizard is flawed, whether they be muggle-born, a half-blood or a pure-blood. It also keeps the roleplay interesting! What I have written about the characters stays, but everything else is up to you. All characters should be original characters. Character pictures should also be realistic; no anime please.
• I will not be providing forms, as I believe in creativity. There are some things that I would like included on forms: name, gender, age, blood status, house, appearance, personality, wand (length, rigidity, wood, core) and 1-2 subjects (preferably one core and one elective) your character excels at. Please do not include a patronus, as one of the tasks pertains to them.
• I also request that you send me a link to any character pictures so I may put them next to the banners on the character posts

roleplay posts
• There will be absolutely no power-playing or god-modding. Also, please refrain from swearing.
• Characters can interact with both player characters and non-player characters. A list of NPC's can be found in the characters post - these characters are mainly teachers.
• I request that signatures be removed when posting - it keeps the thread looking cleaner. Also, please make your posts slightly pretty, even if it's just changing the text to your characters' house colours.
• The only way you may bump this thread is through the button at the bottom of the page.




school rules
• All students must be in uniform during classes. Uniform violations are subject to whatever punishment the Professor sees fit.

• No magic will be allowed in the corridors or in the library.

• Students must be in their common rooms by 9 P.M. every night, and must remain there until sunrise.

• The Forbidden Forest is strictly off limits to all students.

• Students are not allowed in the Restricted Section of the library without a written and signed permission slip from a Professor.

• First year students are not allowed to possess their own brooms. School brooms are provided for flying lessons and Quidditch.

• Any fighting or bullying will be strictly punished with detention or expulsion, depending on the severity.

• Love potions are not allowed at Hogwarts at any time.

All wands have four main attributes to them: the wood it is made of, the core within it, the rigidity and the length. Different woods and cores have different properties which, when receiving a wand, tend to match up with one's personality. Rigidity and length often reflect this too.
