I think the artists do it in a way so that you can see what they based it off of, but not enough for it to be horribly obvious and trouble-worthy. They have based pets off other fandoms and such without getting in trouble before.

*sigh* I definitely have to agree with all the good comments on this pet, it's gorgeous.
But I couldn't help but laugh a little the first time I really gave it a good look. My first thoughts were "Pika Pika" ('cause, you know, the cheeks..) and "Rudolph"
So tempted to keep all 3 of mine for a while.

You're a little late to the party, Lillian's already confirmed that they're Sonic based/inspired! ^^ Though we're all waiting on that last newborn to see who it is.
