With the ponies, it might not be rarity so much as theme that makes them hard to get. Artist confirmed they're based off of Sonic the Hedgehog characters, with the black/red one being the favorite anti-hero, Shadow. So...might be why that little guy's a bit hard to get, along with perceived rarity. ^.^

True dat. Though...I wonder how many people got their love of black/red from Shadow, considering a lot of people on this site seem to be the right age for Shadow to be from their childhood... >_>
