~Caroline~

Caroline half woke up when Hawke left the room, as mentioned before, her senses were so keen that she woke up from everything. She fell asleep briefly, until a blanket had been laid on her. She smiled, as she slowly was warmed up form it, and her eye lids fluttered open a bit. She found Hawke not to far from her, asleep. His breathing was deep, but quiet. He looked so much more peaceful while he was asleep. Caroline kept smiling at him until she fell into a deep sleep once again. Caroline didn't normally dream, since she slept so lightly, but it had been so long since she had a nice sleep, that she slept as deeply as possible. She had many dreams that night, most nightmares, but the others were good dreams, that she couldn't remember.

HAWKE

Hawke's sleep was dreamless, but restful. When the first rays of dawn fell upon the small house, Hawke was awake. He slowly shifted around so that he would be sitting upright. His eyes quickly adjusted to the dimly lit room. He stood up, running a hand through his messy hair. He walked away into the master bedroom to get dressed and ready for the day.
He walked out with damp hair, a fresh grey shirt, and jeans. He wore socks on his feet because he didn't feel it entirely necessary to wear shoes. Hawke wandered his way into the kitchen, aimlessly. Slowly he pulled a glass from the cupboard, one of two. He swung open the fridge door and pulled out a carton of iced coffee. It wasn't exactly gourmet, but it did taste good. He added a cube of ice from the icebox and took a sip. Coffee was a part of his daily ritual. He pulled out a Pink Lady apple from the crisper, rinsed it under a thin stream of cool water, and then took a bite.

~Caroline~

Caroline woke only seconds after Hawke had, but kept her eyes closed, trying to fall back asleep. She wanted to be like Sleeping Beauty, just sleep for 100 years. She decided that for now it was impossible for her to fall back into her deep sleep. She slowly sat up, rubbed her eyes, and yawned. She stood up, smoothing her hair down a bit, and walked into the kitchen, next to Hawke. "Thanks for covering me up last night." She said, quietly. She was glad that Hawke did that for her, because she was getting a bit cold.

HAWKE

Hawke shrugged. "Sure." He said, taking another couple bites of the bittersweet apple in his hand, which he quickly finished off. "Want to go to Abbi's?" He asked slowly. "They have decent breakfasts, good crepes, and amazing pies. Not too far away, either." Abbi's was like a local Marie Calendar's, it specialized in breakfast and pie. It also served decent lunches. It was in a quaint little place that reminded him of a log cabin, nestled within tall, healthy pine trees. Hawke, although not poor since he'd had several jobs here and there, did not have a proper 'home' so he was often moving around. This meant he couldn't afford any furniture, since he pretty much needed to be able to carry any belongings he had with him from place to place. This meant he didn't have any pans to cook with. Therefore, restaurants and fast food became his only real option. "Oh, and Caroline? If you go into the closest of the master bedroom... do me a favor and not open it? It's... just don't open it."

Caroline nodded. "That sounds good," She stood there, about to ask another question, but she was stopped when Hawke told her not to go in the closet. She nodded again. "Um, do you have any clothes I could maybe change into? I mean, I know it is ridiculous, since you are a guy, and I am a girl, but I thought maybe..." She trailed off, making a bunch of hand motions as she talked. Her hands fell to her sides, as she trailed off, and looked at Hawke hopefully. Maybe she could have worn some old clothes of his, that didn't fit him anymore. But Hawke was so much bigger than Caroline, so she doubted that he would have anything for her.

HAWKE

Hawke paused.. clothes? "Umm... I'll look." He walked out of the kitchen and then strode into the master bedroom, rummaging through the closest. Like his hoodie had, he was sure most of his clothes would fit too loosely on her, although lucky for her, a lot of his shirts were much tighter than his sweatshirt. He looked through his belongings, giving special attention to the shirts had shrunken after he tried to clean them. He picked up a thin maroon shirt that was way too tight for him to wear. It was a short sleeve v-neck, although the neckline was pretty high.. it might work. He walked back to Caroline, shirt in hand. "I don't have any pants for you, but here's a shirt I found.."He handed it to her, hoping it would fit.

~Caroline~

Caroline smiled, and took the shirt gently. "Thanks much! I have a pair of shorts on, so it will be okay. I am going to go change in the bathroom, if that's okay." Caroline looked around, thinking it would be weird if she changed in his room, that is why she asked. But what was so important that she not go in the closet? Was there something other than clothes in there that she should not see? Was it such a big mess that he was embarrassed to show? Caroline really wanted to know, but she would never find out, because she wouldn't invade his privacy like that. Or anyone's, on that note.

HAWKE

Hawke nodded in consent. Hawke really didn't care where she changed. It wasn't like this was his house, anyway. He waited patiently where he stood for Caroline to be done changing. It was odd, in a nice way, to have a guest. Of course Caroline wasn't a true guest. She was more of a roommate. But, guest or roommate, either was company - and company was not something that Hawke was used to. Ever. The most interactions he'd had prior to Caroline was when he tolerated the presence of others, but he had never actually invited someone to accompany him.

Caroline quietly waded to the half bathroom. When she got in, she locked the door, and took off Hawke's sweatshirt. She felt so cold with it off, but she neatly folded it up, and set it on a little shelf in the bathroom. She washed herself off with some soap and water, scrubbing it on her body with her hands. She saw a small rag on the shelf, wet it, and wiped her body off. She quickly dried, then took off her original shirt, and slipped on the v-neck that Hawke had given to her. It fit her well, yet was still a bit large. It hung about an inch past her waist, and the sleeves were loose on her frail arms. But, it was still tight enough to be able to see her wings a bit. She came out holding her shirt in one hand, and Hawke's sweatshirt in the other. She walked back to where Hawke was standing in the kitchen, and held out his sweatshirt to him. "Sorry I had this for so long... You should have it back now."

HAWKE

Hawke paused, leaning against the countertop as he he saw Caroline walk out in his red V-neck. He smiled. "You look nice." He took back his sweatshirt and then his smile faltered for a second. His eyes had wondered down her shoulder blades and stopped on the almost unnoticeable bulge under the maroon fabric. He tossed Caroline the hoodie. "Nah, keep it... you need it more than I do. I am not letting you walk out of here wearing that without anything to cover your wings, anyway." He tossed his apple core into a makeshift trashbag.
Later that day she'd be helping him pack his few belongings and move into a different house. Hopefully soon he could afford a legitimate residence, he was close to having enough anyway.... but it was that little gap between almost and enough that kept him in a house that the owner intended on renting, and had no idea that he was in.
