To explain my probably not very well explained post:

It's generally a rule that a warrior has to have had an apprentice before they could be made deputy. Unfortunately, most all of the cats currently in the RP either don't have an apprentice as part of their history or are currently training one. Spirit pointed out that some of the older cats might have trained the younger ones, so I threw together a quick post showing who could have potentially mentored who if that was the case.

I sometimes forget to explain how the conclusion I reached in my post came to be, or how it was relevant in the first place. A character flaw not helped by my innate ability to be easily sidetracked.

Erm, question:

Was Sunstrike not supposed to die in the battle with the fox? It doesn't seem that anyone felt comfortable posting for a cat not their own, and he was overlooked.

Shh... Someone can realize he's missing afterwards? Or while Martenfur and Sparrowstorm bury the fox they'll find his body nearby?

Oh, I thought he was going to die in the flood, and he was just going to be... you know... gone, without anyone having to role play another cat.

I don't see where he had time to die during that attack, but Sparrow and Marten could find him if that's what we're going with.

Ah, that might actually make more sense, Kitty. I think that was more just me assuming he was going to die sooner rather than later, but it might actually be better if he died during the flood. I don't know, not really my decision.

I'm going to go sit in my corner and be quiet now...

I think it makes sense that he'd die sooner, since bubbline left a couple of days ago, and it could actually benefit the role play by moving it along to the time the cats receive the prophecy. I think we established that the cats will realize it's after sunhigh when they get back to camp and Kage is taken care of; then, there could be a brief pause of speculation as the cats wonder who Icestar will pick as deputy in the short time he has, and after the new deputy is chosen, everyone can go to sleep...
and the giving of the prophecy will happen.

So actually, I think that's probably the way to go, Black Kitsune.
