Personal warnings should generally be saved for when your actions are actually doing something to hurt someone else.
We weren't at all.
So yeah, everything would have been fine if the mods had left our thread alone.
We wouldn't have had to go and spam the Things That Annoy You thread with rants.
It would have saved me from getting two board warnings.
If they left our thread alone, that wouldn't have happened.

Exactly, I don't actually think we're spamming the Things that Annoy you thread, but that brings me to one thing I have been ranting about too much now. There is so much spam on that thread, but is any action being taken, apart from the fact that only staff members can remake it? No. I have reported so much on that thread, but it's not making any difference. I hate that our thread was locked, the thread that makes us happy was locked for spam, but this other thread doesn't get so much as a warning. I don't know if any private board warnings were sent, but I looked through the thread and found nothing.

This is just unfair.
Isn't spam that canned meat ham thingy anyway?

Going to have to pop in here.

While I never posted on THIS specific amusement thread, I did check in on it.
And I think that there was spam that wasn't very relevant.
I understand why it was locked, considering that the fourth rule was no spam, and that posting "got kicked off the xat" or "im going to watch attack on titan" or etc is spam because it has nothing to do with the main point of the thread. Posting a funny cleverbot chat or a cat gif or a funny video is, while just chatting isnt. while you guys may have found it amusing, the mods and everyone who was not part of your group may not have found it as such and probably got more annoyed than amused.

I made a suggestion on Tumblr about how if you all added each other on skype (or another messanger) and made a big group chat, then everyone would be happy and then no warnings would be given out since you guys wouldn't have any rules to follow. You can also send files on there. \o/

Yes, but one great part of the thread was that new people kept coming in and making friends. On Skype or similar messengers, we'd add people, they can't just come in...

I agree with Shanoo.
Things That Amuse You may not have had a specific chat topic, but it was for talking about amusing things, so it was by no means a random chat thread.
We can't have been classified as spammers when we were simply, well, just talking about amusing stuff.
If the mods don't bring the thread back soon, I may actually leave this site, because ever since that thread was locked, CS just doesn't seem fun anymore. That was the main place for a lot of us to hang out. There is nowhere now to post amusing stuff that we want to share with the Cs community. Sure, we made a Xat chat group to try and stop the spamming, but as far as I know, you can't actually post pictures on there. Some people may not even be able to use it. And it's not like we can find another chat room easily, since the internet is so vast.
I understand why people disagree, but I think the TTAmY thread should be unlocked, as the locking of the thread has actually affected my mood a lot. I don't feel as happy as I was before it was locked. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels like this.
Also, why lock the thread when we were only having innocent fun? That's all we were doing, until the mods decided to stick their noses into the thread and accuse several people of spamming. Seriously. You wouldn't like it if we ruined your innocent fun, so why do it to us.
CS is supposed to be a fun and friendly community. You know what you've done by taking away the thread? You've made the site less fun. Is that what you really want?

This i literally exactly how I feel. I was considering quitting CS due to the new strict rules, excessive amount of mods and rude people, but then found the TTAmY thread, had a ton of fun with the people there (which I consider my friends) and even learned new things and got into new fandoms (Lavender Town Obsession = Caused by that thread.)
I think the things that annoy you thread should be locked. So much rule breaking, spam, and random noobs posting "hi trde m3 plox thnx kk buy nooubs " on there and yet TTAmY gets locked?
I was offline while all the "spammy" stuff was happening, but I went back to see what was considered spam there.
I can see where people started to get pretty spammy, but then everyone calmed down and stopped spamming before it was locked, yet mods still locked it.

Just dropping in to add my own input here.

Firstly, while I understand that you are upset that TTAmY is locked - I am also disappointed, as that thread was a favorite of mine - there were a few users posting things that were truly starting to cross the border between 'amusement' and 'spam'. Many users were posting things such as 'I joined/left the Xat thread!' and related things when such announcements were not all that necessary.

Claiming that Verdana was being rude is, in my opinion, not entirely justified. She was just doing her job, and the mods that had been reminding the users of TTAmY to follow the spam rules were, for the most part, ignored. If a thread is breaking the site's rules, it will be locked until further notice. If the mods didn't lock rule-breaking threads, my heart fails me to think where this site would be right now.

Personal warnings are required to be given to users if they happen to break multiple/important rules. I personally had been given a warning when I was a newer user because I had freely given out my age on a public thread, which is a personal internet safety hazard. Warnings can be daunting, but they also help you; it's kind of like when you get scolded in real life for breaking a plate or something, because you'll know to be more careful in the future. A warning can help you become a better user.

Getting back on topic, I do agree, however grudgingly, that the mods did the right thing with locking TTAmY. Who knows? it could get started back up one day as a cleaner thread where we can still have fun.

Alright, I understand that a couple of the things we said were spam, but things had calmed down and we were getting back to normal. My huge problem is that a thread which breaks the rules much more than TTAmY, TTAnY doesn't seem to have any trouble, even though it has so much spam! I reported at least five posts just yesterday on that one thread. It's not that I see myself as a spam police or anything or I'm so mad, but I have been annoyed because TTAmY isn't there to make me happier, so I've been hanging around on TTAnY. That thread has so much spam and in my opinion, should be locked, not TTAmY.

I mean, it's the Things that amuse YOU Thread, not "Things that amuse OTHER people"...

You can consider anything as amusing. if they were amused by something like " i left the xat", than alright.
They weren't hurting anyone, people could still post other things. It was never clearly stated what the mods see as off-topic.
Sure, some things could have been talked to via pm, and they could have been a bit more wary after the first warning.

I liked the thread as well, but for its sole purpose of posting something you found funny or entertaining not to reply to others posts with chatter. I mean its ok to give a short reply to them with these () but while also putting something you found amusing afterwards. I don't like that they locked it, but I understand why they had to shut it down.

Here is the difference between things that Annoy thread and things that amuse you thread.

Really? I remember seeing a few posts in the TTAnY thread that were more amusing and one person even stated that they'd post it in the TTAmY thread. There is something called editing. However, there is clearly a rule saying not to reply, that is broken a lot. I look through the TTAnY thread a lot, because there are a lot of things that annoy me and I see lots more spamming. It is probably the most spammy thread I've seen, and I look at that thread several times a day. It grows even more than the TTAmY thread did.
